[News] John Harbaugh: Terrell Suggs Character Questions 'Crossed The Line'

48 posts in this topic

I've been saying this for a few years now, I don't think It's a good Idea to scrimmage with a team that you are going to play in the preseason games, other than the players having grudges, the Eagles had us all figured out by the time game time came around especially when we practice with them for 3 days

Oh come on, Kelly! I read that there was an option a couple plays before, so Suggs was valid to evaluate it as option and you do run it! Jason Peters, I think if you get burnt on the left side, you should keep your mouth shut and not attract attention. If it was Sizzle getting to your QB, it's on you! At least kudos to Jason Kelce, who stayed classy.

A Philly DB said that if he was not wearing an Eagles' uniform, he would have done the same thing as Suggs. Kelce, the Eagles' center, called it a clean play. Generally, though, teams will respond to plays like that in a way that supports their own player. That is why Blandino and the NFL, as independent arbitrators, get involved and settle the dispute. The NFL said it was legal. Opinions now don't matter. Case closed. Those who hate the Ravens/Suggs will continue to hate. Bring on the haters. Go Ravens!

If a QB has an option to keep it without even establishing himself as a passer, he will be treated as a runner. A good defense will always attempt to stop a play like that by sending a defender straight after the QB, whether he keeps it or not. A great defender like Suggs is not going to slow down to see who actually ends up with the ball; neither should he be expected to slow down.

I seem to recall a very similar play where Andy Dalton kept the ball on the read, and burned Suggs for a touchdown, after Suggs went for the running back in 2013.

Really a non-issue rules clearly state Suggs legal, and so was the hit....And Chip denying it was a run option play is bogus, as that is what he was famous for running at Oregon....Suggs played to his responsibility on the play...And if Suggs wanted to cheap shot Bradford, he would have lit him up a lot harder than he did....

Really cannot believe Chip would fan the flames on this. Very inappropriate for him to do so, and it will not endear him to his coaching brethren. Pretty sure this spells the end of joint practices with the Eagles, along with any feel-good history Harbaugh had with the old guard in Philly.

Have to throw this out there too.....  How is a defender supposed to know whether they are simply running a "run play" or a "run-option play"?  There is no time for that, especially when you're running a no huddle.  These teams that are running the read-option cannot have it both ways.

Merrill Reese, Eagles Play by Play guy on Philly sports talk radio this morning....."I Looked At Who The Ravens Have On Their Roster And They Are Really Not That Good". Can't wait for this season to shut him up. Also noticed the Eagles visit Baltimore next season.

First of all, Suggs' "Hit" wasn't even a hit! He went low as to wrap up, and that's exactly what he did. He didn't pop him with a helmet, or even a shoulder pad. He didn't hold Bradford's legs and roll. He got Bradford's feet out from under him and used his arms to do it. In my opinion the tackle couldn't have been much softer. As for how low he went, if he had aimed for Bradford's shoulder area, he may have missed when Bradford juked backwards. In my opinion Mike Preston is a bit off base calling it a cheap shot! Preseason or not. Let's get back to playing some ugly ball. NFL is getting a little too soft...!

Reese and any Philly reporter talking trash about Suggs or Ravens can take a flying hike. Since NFL/AFL playoff/league merger in 1966, Eagles played in 2 Super Bowls in 48 years (Lost both). The Ravens are already two times Super Bowl champs. The Eagles does not even come close to the Ravens in past 8 years. The Eagles are one of nine teams tied for worse and longest winless Super Bowl drought at 48 years. In a couple years, we can send the Eagles a plaque with fake gold to congrats them on a Golden 50 years anniversary without a Super Bowl win.

I find most of Mike Preston's opinions are not worth repeating or noting anyway.
