[News] CB Rashaan Melvin ‘Hungry’ For Starting Job

41 posts in this topic

I don't think Webb was ever going to be a starting corner this year. Vaughn will probably start or possibly Melvin. Personally I THINK THIS IS WEBB'S LAST YEAR IN THE NFL AND HE MAY NOT EVEN MAKE THE WHOLE YEAR. Either Melvin or Vaughn will be ok as long as Smith Arrington Lewis and Hill are on the field with him.

Already. Webb is "sidelined" with an injury. Yet, here are the Ravens, drafting a wide receiver they don't need, while ignoring the gaping hole in their defensive secodary. I said it before the draft and I'll say it again, their ridiculous obsession with wide receivers have cost the Ravens agian this year. Perriman was a ball dropper in college. Now he will be a ball dropper in the NFL, at least for a while. What a stupid number one pick. Meanwhile, the defense is once again vulnerable on the corners.

Hey Atleast Webb will be solid depth backing up Melvin. I want the guy on the feild who can actually tackle and doesn't get burnt every other play. Right now that seems to be Melvin. And hey that actually gives more incentive for us to have him returning kicks. We were kind of torn about having him returning kicks before bc we didn't want our starting corner getting injured, but having him as the backup makes it a little less risky and worth the dice roll.

It wasn't a secret that the team liked Marcus Peters ( I also liked him)  at CB, but after he and Kevin Johnson were both drafted before our pick, I'm not sure what CB you were hoping for us to draft.   ( I was big on Eric Rowe if we traded back into Early 2nd Round because of his versatility play CB or S ).  Other than him, Byron Jones I guess the combine made him a late first pick, Jalen Collins fringe first rounder as well.

What did you want the team to do, trade up secure a CB or trade back and get one?

I'd think we would all be thrilled to see any guy in that secondary can be relied upon each week. Arrington can play inside and at this point is probably the guy to step in if Webb cant go week 1.

everybody and their mama was complaining all offseason saying how Ozzie was scared to draft a receiver in the first round and how badly they wanted a number 1 receiver and this and that. Ozzie goes out and gets one and then everybody starts walking it back saying it was a bad move. Not his fault the guy is injured. A first round cornerback could have gotten injured and lost for the year just as easily. You just can't win with some people. Ozzie knows what he's doin. That's why we end up in the thick of the playoffs nearly every single year since 2008.

I think Melvin Should keep that #2 spot. Why?Because he is on the field playing his butt off! Webb? Injured again, its time to give somebody else a chance to prove that they can be relied on for the whole season.I love Webb but he is getting millions for being injured, that bothers me,Melvin wants it you can see it when he was out there on the field.Take it Melvin, take the job that Webb is letting slip through his fingers.I know its not Webbs fault for getting hurt,i'm saying its hurting the team.
