Authentic Nfl Jerseys From Ebay

78 posts in this topic

I am curious if anyone has purchased a authentic jersey off of e-bay, and was it legit? I know some can be, but some of these go for way below MSRP ($280 according to NFL Shop). I own 3 and have purchased all 3 from the nfl.com store. The descriptions of sellers on e-bay for the merchandise isn't enough to sell me on how authentic it really is, and the pictures are from a far out shot that you can't tell.

Thanks.

Yea they are legit, just bought a replica Ray Lewis jersey for $20.00 but it came from Hong Kong and shipping was $15.

All letterers even the 2 borders are sewn on and all patches/name is sewn too. I have a e-mail if you wish to contact the seller yourself.

Just because the names and numbers are sewn on doesn't make it legit. Yours isn't as Reebok's NFL Shop gear is made in the Republic of Korea - not Hong Kong.

The VAST, VAST majority of jerseys on E-bay are not truly authentic.

Having said that, provided you get a decent one it's very hard to tell apart from the genuine thing. I've bought three on E-bay, and for a saving of around $200, would say it's pretty good value.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. I may take a risk, however.

I have been looking all day when I have had. I want a Authentic Reed jersey black size 48 and have called ALL over town and no one has one. NFL Shop doesn't have my size, and pretty much no sites I have checked have size 48 in stock.

I found a few sites but question their legitimacy.

fullaccess.com
www.jerseyquest.com
www.worldsportjersey.com

It's really frustrating. I told my fiancee I would get a Reed jersey if we won against Miami, she had no issues with it. I would have bought it sooner had I known how hard it would be to get one.

I brought one for like 45 dollars last year. There are no glaring defects or anything like that. Its a little bigger then I think it should be but its a really good price, even for a fake jersey, if it is fake.

I love my ED Reed Authentic gotten from e-bay for 20 bucks! It came with an Eagles tag on it. What I was told is Reebok buys x amount of tags/licenses from the NFL, if it gets put on the wrong team jersey its cheaper to get rid of the tag and jersey then it is to buy a second tag and re tag the jersey. Some of the jerseys are miss- sized but if you are happy with it who cares?

Hmmm, I wonder if that is the guy I know that bought a bunch from Hong Kong or some place. He only paid $30 a piece for them.

Oh well if it is LOL it does the job.. Haha but now y'all got me wondering I had to go look. I bought one off nflshop.com and it's not the same as the one youth jersey I bought ( what can I say I'm a tiny girl ) so I assume the other may be fake but I don't care. As expensive as these jerseys can get I'll settle for something that's fake.. Looks real, but hey it only cost me $15. As for the others (the one from mdcharms I'm not sure it's in NC with my little bro) the Samari Rolle jersey we got for my bf is real.. Another eBay purchase. I could feed myself and my bf for almost a week for the price u Could pay for a real jersey. ;)

Basically, eBay is a crap shoot when it comes to authentic jerseys. You basically have to have an eye for these things in order to point out defects.

The most glaring defect is usually the font on the names -- most authentic jerseys have them too small, or they're stylized differently; you should use a replica jersey or gameday pictures online as reference. This is most glaring with the McNair jerseys (the little 'C' is raised on his jersey) and the McGahee jerseys (the little 'C' is lowered). Also, the numbers, particularly the 0's, are sometimes made too skinny/narrow on the fakes (look at an Ed Reed jersey, you'll see what I mean eventually). The NFL jocktag on the bottom of the jersey is important, as is the NFL Equipment shield on the collar. Another minor touch is the color of the sleeves, particularly the black jerseys where the cuffs aren't purple like they're supposed to be.

Basically, having owned a real authentic jersey and a fake one, as well as replicas and the premier jerseys (stitched numbers and names, but ironed-on sleeves), I've acquired somewhat of an eye for these things. lol.

Yes, when buying Authentic Jerseys from Ebay, the luck of finding a genuine one is pretty slim. I've bought a Lewis jersey knowing it was fake, but it saved me a TON of money and people who don't know about jerseys wont tell a difference. So thats my stance on them.

An easy way to tell whether its genuine is too look at the bottom right tag which lists the size of the jersey. Look at the "nfl players" logo, if the stitching is all red then its fake. If the Reebok lettering is not lettered "Reebok" but rather "Rbk" , then its fake. Look at the collars for the neck and arm, if it feels light and slim like silk then its fake. If the stitching around the numbers are thick then its fake. Look at the NFL patch on the neck, if it isnt a clean stitch, then again its fake.

Basically do a Youtube search for Fake jerseys, and youll find videos that compare real jerseys to fake ones. :D

Either way, im happy that i purchased a "fake jersey" since its almost identical in material and color, and looks like what everyone else has or even better. It all comes down to enthusiasts and such that whine over it.

I'm an enthusiast. And yes, I whine over it.

I mean, granted, we all can't afford to buy $300 jerseys every season. But, when my budget allows me to buy one (I'm a college student, after all, lol...and my parents bought me both of mine for Christmas), I'd like to pay for quality and the "feel" of having a real jersey, especially in supporting my favorite player(s).

Either way, I can't knock people for going on eBay; I've already looked for some this year, but none that were convincing enough or cheap enough to warrant a purchase.

I didnt mean anything negative with that statement, just saying. Have nothing against enthusiasts or the average consumer.

Yea im a college student too, and i decided to buy it for a Christmas present for my cousin. But i prefer paying for the real jerseys too when i have the cash (Urlacher jersey), otherwise id rather investment the money into something more useful; alcohol <_< .

Take this from someone who knows...

Your best bet at getting a true legitimate "Authentic" jersey on eBay is to buy from a small time individual seller.

The under priced "All sewn" jerseys from sellers doing scads of business selling jerseys are counterfeit!

Sure, some of them are half way decent...A great deal of them are just plain awful! Sub standard materials, backed by shoddy workmanship!

If you wish to know if the cheap jersey you just got is legit, or a counterfeit, simply turn it in side out. If the numbers on the front and back of the jersey are sewn on with more than one row of stitching...its bogus. The real ones are stitched together as a unit and then applied. They are not sewn to the jersey individually. If there is brown paper on the inside where the numbers are sewn on...its a fake. All of the applied patches are sewn onto a real jersey neatly and flawlessly. The cheap counterfeits are sloppily applied, at best.

Bottom line...Only counterfeit jerseys come from China. No legitimate jerseys come from there. Period.

I might as well admit it, I do have a fake one when it comes to my Flacco "Authentic" jersey, however, I have to admit it's a pretty well made fake. Someone finally wised up to some of the details and made sure to say it was made in Korea and used the correct font style for Flacco's name and number. The tipoff that it's a fake is the embroidered "Ravens" on the front and the NFL shield, they're not quite perfect, plus the side patches are not quite big enough.

Still, unless you look closely, it looks real enough to most folks, especially in an office full of Redskins fans ;-)

I actually just bought a Scott jersey for 55bucks,.. its authentic. the seller had a 98% rating for 160 votes.. I think it will be legit. I also but a Reed Replica jersey for 40 some... Both black... The Reed I know was legit, the guy had a 20k voter rating. I am worried about this Scott.

When you get it, turn it inside out and look for what I posted earlier...

There is no mistaking a counterfeit when you look closely.

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy...

Well on the back of my authentic Flacco jersey, the number has brownish carboard type looking material. You can see the stiches, and there is more than one line... I guess its a fake.. still looks kinda nice.

Uhhhh...that's not an authentic, at least in terms of jersey vernacular (replica = ironed-on; premier = partially-sewn; authentic = fully-sewn like game-worn jerseys) . Note that they said "sewn-in TAGS"...probably referring to the jocktag at the bottom of the jersey. The numbers aren't sewn-in -- they're screen-printed, as the person indicated. Notice how the crease on the sleeve that was folded in half is sharp -- that patch, if it were an authentic jersey, wouldn't fold like that. And if you look closely at the bottom of the picture where the cuff is just out-of-view, you can tell it's screen-printed.

Their wording was tricky. So, if you were looking for a fully-sewn (i.e. authentic) jersey, then you got ripped off.
