[News] Joe Flacco Takes Ownership Of 'Terrible' Throw

42 posts in this topic

Joe owed up to his part.  After this game, the media stated the end zone pass with two defenders was not his fault due to the tip drill. Double coverage will surely be in favor of the secondary and Joe knows this. Some mic jock said he is not elite. That whole subject is stale in my book and I am confident Joe will respond to this game.  The Ravens were riding on their 014 status before the kick off and the Eagles simply out played us. At least Joe did not use a feeble excuse.

Just a few years ago Deteoit went 4-0 in the preseason and 0-16 in the regular season. I think a team learns a lot more from an ugly preseason loss than a win. Lots of teaching points for this week and the players should be better focused.

exactly.

The best part about this game is that it exposed flaws. You want your flaws exposed in pre-season. Because there's time to fix them before they cost you. I think a lot of the issue was sloppy play - mistakes and penalties. Two things the Harbaugh administration are very good at fixing.

The Ravens played awful on both sides of the ball and for some that feel preseason doesn't matter....I beg to disagree. Hence, if it doesn't matter then training camp prep doesn't matter either. We looked pretty bad..period!!

I have always felt preseason meant very little to the regular season.  In preseason, you are looking at your draft picks and the undrafted to get an idea as to where they fit in and how good your depth will be at various positions.  You are looking to fill roster spots, and "training" those college guys about what to expect in the NFL.    I never gauged it in the view that "this is what our season is going to look like".  It just doesn't work that way.

You can't Turn it Over in your initial 2 Drives and then go on to commit 17 Penalties for another free 139 Yards. Not to mention....when and where the Penalties occurred.

No need to hit the Panic Button. A sloppy Pre-Season outing is what it was. Get the O-Line healed up , correct the Defensive Penalties and misreads and lets see what happens in the Dress Rehearsal ,next Weekend.

Well what I noticed was that the tip ball was on the money the guy just made a play. If joe had 4 more inches of height on the ball the guy can't reach it and it lands right on the receiver's hands for a touchdown. Small criticism for such a long throw. On the pass too brown that was behind and picked , did everyone forget brown has missed alot of practice so joe was off on his timing. Brown got out of his break faster then joe thought he would if joe was a half second faster or brown slower he is hit at his break for a nice catch and run. I'm more worried about the o lines health than I am about joe being a little off.

Owning your mistakes is an essential part of leadership, and of gaining the respect of those around you. Wouldn't trade our Joe for anybody.
