[News] Joe Flacco Takes Ownership Of 'Terrible' Throw

42 posts in this topic

Yes Joe you need to own this, you can't have these type of games, that Texans game last year was in the direction you were going last night...But it was good to see Marlon get so open, and make that difficult back shoulder grab, yep still rooting for Marlon...:)

Plenty of ups and downs from good teams across the league. Ravens aren't the only team to have laid some pre-season eggs, then go on to have successful, even dominant seasons. Make the corrections, keep grinding. By the start of the regular season, if we can get players back on the field healthy, and stay relatively healthy, I am confident the Ravens will make the needed adjustments and put together an outstanding year. Only thing which will freak me out is a rash of major injuries, so the loss itself just indicates what to work on. A humiliating loss is can be a valuable wake up call.

Its okay Joe they were fluke interceptions anyways. Just improve what you learn from your mistakes and play better next week. :-)

Now do we miss Torrey Smith? I predict the receivers we have will not be as good as advertised- we should've tried better to keep Torrey around. He behaved and played like a "Raven" but didn't get a "Raven" contract. Good luck to Marshall Yanda and Tucker in getting fair contracts. I think Ozzie messed up by giving Eugene Monroe all that money that he didn't deserve either- would've had more cap for Osmele and Yanda and perhaps Torrey. Steve Smith was on his way out, and then we won't have a proven receiver after this year- the rookie we drafted can't even get on the field.

@salamander exactly that why I not made at all at this game. Good teams lose in the preseason wins in regular season. Bad teams wins in the preseason loses in the regular season.

Yeah, we did have a bad game and they do happen to the best of us in the NFL, but lets not go into the regular season playing like this, for whatever could happen to us yesterday did happen to us yesterday, but lets make the next time around look like this!!!

No I would say we do not miss Torrey ... Too early to tell we havent played a full game yet with 1st String...

Way to early to say if i miss T.Smith, seeing he has had 0 catches in his first pre-season game ,and targeted once....Miss him as a person being in the community...Also Aiken did get behind the DB's, pass was just under thrown...

Just a few years ago Deteoit went 4-0 in the preseason and 0-16 in the regular season. I think a team learns a lot more from an ugly preseason loss than a win. Lots of teaching points for this week and the players should be better focused.

I agree... the only thing i would say about Aiken is that he should have maybe played back to the ball which then he may or may not have gotten the catch but probably would have drawn a Defensive PI

This is the time of the year / season you want these things to happen because the team has plenty of time to fix the situation before the regular season even starts.

Yeah, bad pass Big Joe, hope that is the bad for the year from everyone. BTW, speaking of injuries the Steelers just toted Pouncey of the field on a stretcher. So yes we have injuries but not too serious to starters ....so far. Let's stay healthy out there! GO RAVENS!

Tom Brady threw 2 ints on the fist two drives of his second preseason game during his record breaking 2007 season. That's what I keep telling myself to keep from over reacting to the way Joe and the defense played last night because that game looked kind of 2013ish.

i hate everything! except for jimmy smith and tray walker I hate our corners, I already don't like kyle arrington he looked terrible last night, even worse then he did in a patriots jersey. Just some things we learned from last night Number 1. we might miss haloti naghta this season judging from how easy the eagles running backs ran up the middle. Number 2. we need perriman in the worst way. 3 kendrick lewis isn't the player I thought he was, he was out of place on every play, missed tackles and just looked sloppy. I'm disgusted at everything really

I just rechecked and those ints weren't thrown on the first two drives consecutively, but the first half of Brady's second preseason game during his 2007 season still looked ugly. That offense was a well oiled machine come reg season time though.I'm hoping the same happens for us.

Of course Lewis was out of position ... most of the defense was out of position due tto the fact they were running base packages and were having radio troubles.

On the first interception the safety came over for double coverage . Joe should not have thrown that pass . We were moving the ball with runs and short passes , there was no need to go over the top .

Especially with SSS running free across the middle. Joe has a great arm, but hits stats go way down on the long balls. I recall a few where the receiver was hit in stride, but mostly I remember the balls either over-thrown or under-thrown and contested. Torrey probably drew as many penalties as catches on the deep balls from Joe.

Relax.  Take some Prozac.  The sun is still coming up.  The earth is still spinning on its axis.  Sure it looked ugly.  We've looked ugly before and endured.  Let's see what next week brings.  The team and coaches seem to be reacting well.  They're not sugar coating it but they're also not letting it get them down.  We should do the same.

This is so true for all of us.  How rarely we learn when things go well and how much we learn when we fail.

James Hurst has a concussion in camp and now he gets one the first time he plays in a pre season game...that's not looking good. Joe was really off. The first INT he threw was a deep pass try to Kamar Aiken who really didn't play the ball, one DB tipped it and there was a second DB back there to catch it. Stuff happens. The second INT was all on Joe. Wide open guy and he just threw it to some point on the field where nobody but an Eagles player was. Whatever the reason for that play, this is the time to make those mistakes and clean them up. Flacco has a track record and you can count on him for the regular season. Schaub has a track record too, but because of his most recent history you like to see him performing better. He was great in the first game, not so much this time around...but I don't really blame him for all of that. Patchwork O-line and receivers with questionable hands. One things I am seeing is that our special teams right now looks absolutely terrible on both sides. Nothing in the return game and our coverage units are shaky. Now, that might clear up a little bit once you get some bubble players off the roster and get your better talent on the coverage units...but I think we need to look for at least a back up returner to Asa Jackson. Between Campanaro and Carter I just don't think that #2 returner is on our team...and Asa may not even be a good #1 option.

The Ravens played awful on both sides of the ball and for some that feel preseason doesn't matter....I beg to disagree. Hence, if it doesn't matter then training camp prep doesn't matter either. We looked pretty bad..period!!
