What is it, that the Ravens are always accused of playing dirty?

Just watched Monday Night Countdown. Every one of them supported Suggs. They also appeared to not think too highly of Chip Kelly.

Defense job just gets harder every year.   Meanwhile Sam 'the bust' Bradford can relish his preseason victory with Chip.   That team isn't going to go too far.

other fans will obviously ignore these facts and supporters for the rest of sizzles career and continue to use this to bash him.

He's the best complete OLB in the game and has been for a long time, and he has a large personality, on a team that upsets the golden geese year in and year out... People LOVE LOVE LOVE to hate Suggs, fan bases absolutely despise him, no amount of truth, fact, or Logic will make these armchair qb idiots ease up and say "maybe I'm wrong and I'm just supporting the softening of football", nope they would prefer to blindly bash a possible future HOFer on a SB contending team

Most of what I heard by TV types is that there was no issue with the play. The Eagles are just coming off as soft, Bradford has already earned that rep.

I kinda like being the heel in the nfl. maybe thats why when I watched WWE I was an Undertaker and Brood Fan,  but Embracing it totally is not a bad thing on the field just do not let it go off the field .  Watch I say that Suggs next film will be a Horror  or  Suspense ....... he will tell me thats his other field ......

Patriots fan here...Suggs hit was clean. I love Suggs. He's the type of player every team should want playing for them. JH on the other hand needs to stop talking about everything all the time and just coach. Good coach bad talker.

Eric Edholm wrote an article for Yahoo sports about the Eagles claiming Suggs is a dirty player for his hit on Bradford. I thought most NFL fans would side with Suggs after his explanation, because I thought fans were becoming sick and tired of quarterbacks being so untouchable but 95% of the comments were about how dirty Suggs and the Ravens are. How did the Ravens get such a bad reputation? I have never seen a Ravens player do what Albert Haynesworth did Andre Gurode (dirtiest play I have ever seen) or Suh stomping Evan Dietrich-Smith, but reading the comments to any Ravens article and you would think that we were the most dirty team in the world. I imagine it was because for many years, no one was able to push our defense around. If you google "dirtiest NFL players," eventually you get to a few Ravens players outside the top ten but Pittsburgh has just as many or more on the list. It just seems like NFL fans, in general, dislike our organization to the point that we constantly being accused of playing dirty. I know the truth, which is that we are a classy organization, but I admit it does bother me that outside of our fan-base others constantly call our players "thugs" and "dirty." IMHO, it is a reputation we DO NOT deserve.

It's a tough game and you need to walk a fine line on D if your team is to be any good. Few teams/players are mentally strong enough to keep their foot on the line. Every player has crossed the line at one time (most unintentionally). You're going to be called filthy. It goes with the territory.

Balfan23 nailed it.  There's always gotta be a bad guy, somebody riding the black horse, wearing the black hat, looking to ruin the day for the white hats.  Look around the NFL...who is that team?  It's not the Raiders any more - it's us.  Heck Steeler fans have made it part of their religion.  Might as well embrace it.  It has its advantages.

Ravens at Patriots fans in agreement. Kumbaya my brothers. :)

john harbaugh is one of the friendliest, most reputable coaches in the NFL. And I'd rather my coach be a man and stick up for my players unlike the coward of the media and cheater up in NE.

Thanks MOD 3. I must just contact 105.7 so thanks for the link. I listen to that station every time when I am driving and I have never been provoked before. Couldn't believe my ears. Rob even commented to Vinnie that "I know you just hate Suggs", which Vinnie denied. Right. Both Vinnie and Rob were over the top.

Sounds like 2 of our local commentators are doing all they can to make sure that they are reinforcing the notion that of at least 1 of the Ravens is a dirty player. Likewise it damages the team image to the Baltimore community and the whole nation since the Ravens coaches also supported the execution of that "dirty" play. Rob and Vinnie's comments went out across the airways to thousands of listeners. Sportscaster comments like this go a long way in publically projecting a bad image of the Ravens.

Haven't sent my e mail yet but I will. Still thinking about my approach to 105.7 and I am still annoyed. I don't know how long these conversations went on but I caught a good bit while I was driving to PA. I just want to make sure that Ravens website fans are aware that their local radio sports station is doing their part to fuel the negative "dirty", even headhunting, persona of the Ravens. I am fine with the tough, physical bully image. I am not Ok with wrongly perpetuating a dirty players/team image.

The DJ's have email addresses as well, if you click on their show link....  I went directly to them...  Should be interesting if I get a response as well.

Please look at the comments section in tonight's Suggs/ villain article about  the 105.7 Vinny and Rob show yesterday where they accused Suggs of being a dirty player and his absolute intent to injure Bradford. I have written e mails to CBS/105.7 (Dave Labrozzi) and cc'd both Vinny and Rob. I have directed all 3 of the 105.7 folks to go to the article on Suggs in the Villain role so it is likely they will read or hear about your comments if you chose to post your views. Read my initial comment at the beginning of the comment section (reposted by Mom Gene) to get the overview of the attacks upon Suggs and negative reflection upon the Ravens organization that resulted. The show was way out of line and over the top in the worst possible way.

Aiken gets pile driven to the ground by a seriously dirty play and the headlines on Yahoo Sports are about how the Ravens were involved in a brawl, no footage of Aiken getting pile drived but the article talks about SSS's ejection and Harbaugh getting into an argument with Gruden. So again all the comments are about how classless our team is. Whatever - the heck with the rest, I am proud of SSS for sticking up for his teammate....Go Ravens!!!!!!!

I was reading a different article I guess..... This was in a Yahoo article...  Maybe there is a separate one.

"Tempers flared late in the first quarter after Washington's Keenan Robinson slammed receiver Kamar Aiken to the turf, headfirst, following a 13-yard completion. Several players began shoving each other, most notably Ravens receiver Steve Smith and Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver, both of whom were ejected.

Baltimore coach John Harbaugh ran across the field toward the scrum, and before turning back he yelled at Redskins coach Jay Gruden.

After reaching the Baltimore sideline, Smith bowed in the direction of the officiating crew. The 36-year-old is retiring after this season, and he might not have been so cordial had this been a regular-season game. In this case, however, Smith had no problem walking away after catching four passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.

That was an unbelievably blatant dirty play by Robinson.  That move could literally kill someone.

I gotta say the Eagles and Redskins are many leagues above us in dirty play.

I was very worried about Joe  after the Redskins pile drive (one of the dirtiest plays ive ever seen)

and ensuing fight . I didn't want to see him get hurt.
