[News] Ravens Injuries Mount In Loss To Eagles

20 posts in this topic

I refuse to believe that the way our team played earlier is a representation of who they are. Last night was bs, I just believe that our guys were too comfortable/lackadaisical after practicing with the eagles for those few days.

Wins and losses in the preseason are pretty much irrelevant but the losses to injuries are the real barometer on how the season will go. Camp already injured is no big surprise but the OL is of concern. The WR position is of major concern esp. if Perriman's knee is worse than the R's are letting on. They need a speedy wide out to make the opponents D keep from stacking the line. If they have to rely mainly on the run game and the dink and dunk passes it might be a long season. Carter has the speed but he certainly doesn't look like he's ready for prime time. However, there were a few bright spots with Z Smith's performance (expected) and the DB Cassius Vaughn's (unexpected). It's far to early to panic but the D has not looked good at all with the pass rush looking almost non-existent.

I believe we'll be just fine! I agree with Ravensfansince03, that they were a little to laid back. Plus, what was with all the flags?? Looked like we were targeted/ nitpicked to death.

What a stinking officiating crew was that? It appeared that they were overly critical and flagging any and all infractions no matter the severity. That crew was an embarrassment to their trade. They should be fired or sent back for more training as a crew. God help the games that this bunch gest scheduled for.

Its quite obvious that the Eagles game planned and wanted to show off. It was what it was. Time to move on. Injuries are creeping up on us. Hope to field a healthy team by the first regular season game. Go Ravens.

The refs in the game were rookies learning how to do their job, as mentioned by the announcers. In a way it was a practice game for them too. When any new person starts officiating at any sort of situation the tendency is to see fouls everywhere. The more mature seasoned official makes far fewer calls. This is true in many fields. As an example any new medical student diagnoses himself with having half the known medical diseases by the time he graduates. Of course he has none of these. Same goes for lawyers. They see a case in every possible instance. More seasoned lawyers realize that a true winnable case is far rarer than his greener colleague does.

this headline is a bit misleading. Most of the injuries are minor and won't affect week 1 availability. Other guys were held out as a precautionary measure.

No way the Ravens will be able to compete with anyone based on the status of what I just saw. They should be very , very concerned. We have way to any injuries and the first and second year players need to step up big time. Do you really think we can beat the Steelers? Or Cincy?? We are in big time trouble and you can see that on Harbaugh's face.

Even though the injuries are minor, it's still a concern. Bumps and bruises and tweaks can linger all season. Without a healthy O-line, this team will be in trouble.

I place little value on wins, losses...or scores during preseason.....I also understand starters not playing at top intensity, particularly on offense.....what I continue to not understand is why Webb continues to have a spot on the Ravens roster. Yes Webby had a good season a few years ago.......since then we have gotten a great deal of empty bravado from him....(I believe a couple of weeks ago he once again said he is ready to deal with the job...then bang injured again) and constant injuries.....said it last year and say it this year......let youth move into starting roles....Webb's day is gone. Maybe his value this year is to teach the youth......but never as a starting corner. This loss only serves as data for the coaches.....no biggy. Next week.....I believe you will see a different level of play....as we close in on our opener and cut some drift wood off the roster....its preseason relax.

Go Ravens....

My true concern is over Perriman. He has a knee injury that is exacerbated by a condition that is causing a slow heal, which limits his running, lifting and ability to get stronger and back into football shape. Isn't that a conundrum? It was quite evident that the Ravens are missing a deep threat, maybe Ozzie is just waiting for first cuts to pick up a receiver with some speed. We certainly have more than adequate possession receivers on the roster. May not be panic time yet, but we're getting pretty close to it. Hope Taliaferro is okay, but Magee acquitted himself well.

Does anyone else wish we only had two preseason games? Every year teams go through this gauntlet and pick up injuries before the actual season even starts.. I definitely see the value in some pre season games, but 4?

We're not the only team losing key players in the pre season. Green Bay just lost Jordy Nelson for the whole season. The Steelers lost Pouncey to a broken ankle and will probably miss quite a bit of time. Injuires are a part of the game and let's just be thankful that these injuries for the most part have been more of the "nicks and bangs" than of the IR type. It is worrisome for sure, but these guys need some reps to knock off the off season rust and get used to game speed again. I think 4 pre season games is just right. You have to remember that you have a roster of about 90 guys that trims down to 75, and then down to your final 53. Practice only tells you so much. There have been guys the Ravens are jazzing about in practice but I have yet to seen show up in any game time. This is a time for those guys that normally wouldn't get the reps to get them, get a chance to make the team, and then get a chance to make a living. I just don't see how they get that opportunity in only two games.

Pittsburgh and cinci haven't looked very well so far either buddy incase you haven't noticed. freaking Tampa bay just whooped up on the bengals the other night , and the score wasn't even as bad as it looked. I wouldn't put too much stock into the preseason. It's hardly an indicator for what's to come. Harbaughs face looks like a guy who knows his team is about to win the afc north to me.
