[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Eagles

58 posts in this topic

Five thoughts:

1) What the heck? just happened?!!?

2) Jesus that was depressing!

3) Where was the run defense?

4) I knew I should have tempered my expectations after the season opener against the lowly Saints. The winner from that division emerged last year with a 7-9 record.

5) Holy crap we are in deep trouble!

I know this is preseason and there is no game planning, but I have a feeling this is the year that half way down the season there is gonna be a coordinator that is going to be fired ala Cam Cameron. Mr Pees I'm talking about you brother. Harbaugh already hinted after the first preseason game that he is sick and tired of this bend don't brake nonsense! Is it me or this defense hasn't had any pop, hasn't instiled any fear in a couple of years now?

I want to see Tom Nelson get some first team reps, he kind of remind me of Owen Daniels at WR as far as a reliable catcher.

What happened? Our kick returner is not on the team at this time. Have to wait for cuts. So much for our quality depth. I don't care if is preseason that was embarrassing. They certainly smoked us. Why do we have so many injuries when we are supposed to be so well conditioned? All that talk about Ravens practices versus the Eagles practices. They certainly showed us tonight. All those glowing reports I read all week was a bunch of hooey. I'm blaming coaches for this one because it was a total team failure in every aspect of the game. On the other hand first cuts are coming in 10 days and even I can pick them out.

Cant wait for the new Vegas odds to come out. Baltimore Ravens go from 6-1 to 75-1. Maybe thats what we need to get serious again. Oh and perhaps hire a DC that has cojones not pees! lol

Indy got spanked 36-10 vs. PHI ... lost tonight 23-11 vs. CHI. I wonder if the fans in Indy have lit their hair on fire and are running around screaming? I wonder if their odds have gone from 5-1 to 60-1?

Yes, it was hard to watch, but gotta keep perspective. There are undoubtedly some concerns, but I don't think we need to be writing off the season.

Good, Bad, UGLY!

Good= Thank God its preseason and it doesnt count.

Darren Waller WR is locking up a spot on this Ravens roster after a 4 catch(1removed by penalty) and a TD day, after following a solid 1st preseason game when he caught passes and drew multiple penalties on defenders etc., and hes doing what Harbaugh loves playing well in practice.

Secondary,Cassius Vaugn stripped/picked off a pass that was called for penalty fallaciously. He was physical at the point of attack as was most of our guys, I was pleased mostly with Melvin, T. Walker, and even got a Jimmy Smith siting.

TEs were beasts as usual

Players of note..Magee in the 4th was running like a mad man, and had a TD stripped

Tom Nelson, very interesting WR caught two, very shifty, fast and quick..reminds me alot of a Welker/Campanaro type..in fact they even brought it up in the booth

Art Brown and Z. Smith both had sacks

Bad

First String offense and defense.

200 plus rushing yrds for Eagles

Brandon Williams and Jernigan getting pushed around like they dont exist

Injuries(Talliaferro,Monroe,Hurst)

UGLY

40-17

Biggest concerns ... injuries ... to be specific:

yes, it has been agonized over for weeks now, but we absolutely need Perriman on the field. We all want to back our guys - Aiken and Brown are nice, but neither are the kind of guy we need on the outside to stretch the field. Our run game was solid and play action was ours for the taking. When we took it - Aiken had no ability to separate.

Webb ... it is starting to get harder to believe that he can be healthy for an extended stretch when here we are in another preseason where he's not on the field.

Camp - the hammy is starting to feel like a permanent issue. He's no Julio Jones, but he could be a spark-plug for us and it just feels like he can't get on and stay on the field.

The O line ... here, I'm just not so sure how serious these injuries are, but by sheer volume, they are a bit of a concern.

Like I said a couple days ago this so called " chip kelly " offense will benefit our Defense big time! Please don't mess this up this Offense should AVG 40pts a game! Let's do this no more EXCUSES!

Maybe they sabotaged our communications? We need to prepare better in the future for the cheaters. There had to be other issues going on that we will never know about.

Dean Pees must go. His philosophy of 'react' instead of 'attack' sucks. He had an excuse last year to be conservative because of the injuries to the secondary. There's too much talent on this defense to be conservative and NOT be aggressive. I'm not worried about the offense. The Oline is a little beat up and Joe had a couple of bad series but no worries. We're going to score points but can we stop anybody? That's the million dollar question.

My 5 thoughts

1) havent seen that many penalties in one half in a lonnnng time. Very sloppy. Very frustrating.

2) rynner did a good job again. Pretty impressed with the kid.

3) looks like Waller has earned a spot on the roster. If he plays well next week it's pretty safe to say he will make the 53. As far as the wide receivers as a whole , starting to be a little more concerned. A few ppl on here have told everybody to pump the breaks on all the excitement bc we don't have many experienced receivers ( I was Also on the hype train for a while) . And it's starting to show. Marlon brown made one nice catch, but I'm losing a lot of faith in him. I'm hoping he's just flying under the radar and busts it open once the season starts, but I'm not so sure. Aiken hasn't shown much seperation. It's very early on so a lot if this is premature , but will definitely help when we get perriman in the feild.

4) very concerned about the KR position. Another shaky performance from carter- who's only hope making the roster was through the return position, and he most likely won't be making the the team now. I have zero confidence in him or Asa Jackson at this point as our return men.

5) I know we didn't game plan for this game at all, but I'm steadily losing faith in dean pees at a rapid pace.

1. I give Flacco a pass tonight. great defensive play and one poorly thrown ball does not erased what we've seen all offseason. 2.) Defense looks bad in both games. They struggle with hurry up offense and speedy receiver. That's basically the Steelers and Bengals. It must improve 3.) Injuries, Injuires, and more injuries. Usually 3rd game teams play up to the first drive in the 3rd quarter. With all the road games coming up, Ravens may want to rest guys. 4) Some guys cut themselves. Carter cut himself tonight. 2 weeks of muffing kicks, not soundly catching the football, Jensen too many penalties, backup Oline killed any attempts to sustain offense. Why keep Asa (can't cover, can't stay healthy, average returner at best. Don't let a good player go to keep him, Did Butler even play tonight. he has not shown anything special during games 5) Keep Magee, solid one cut runner (Hope LT is OK), and get a returner even if you trade.

After the saints game we were going to the Super Bowl now were not gonna make the playoffs. That's the way fans are in preseason.

I'm sorry Jeremy Butler, but we don't need two Kamar Aiken's on our roster. Something has gotta give, and we need the skillset Waller offers more than the depth Butler provides.

Sizzle had a momentary lapse of leadership in the first drive there. Ok great, the refs screwed up the hit on Bradford and gave them an extra 15 yards. That's on them. But a guy like Sizz needs to have enough composure not to come back the next play and vent his frustration by blatantly clotheslining a receiver on his route, handing away even more yardage.

That's not cool.

We were running a lot if basic schemes. I'm not really concerned at all, we just need to work on communicating better when defending those fast paced offenses. Thought tray walker had a pretty good game.

My two thoughts after just getting back from that beatdown. NOBODY came ready to play. We got taken to the woodshed for a whipping. OUCH!!!

I am actually glad we got stomped the way we did. We have became overly confident and it really showed today. So thank you Eagles for pointing out our major weaknesses and giving us time to fix the problems before the real season starts. Remember fellow Die Hard Raven fans its only preseason.

I'm not even mad all at this game. Honesty it's just preseason guys. That's what it's for to see were we at as a team. We just need to fix the corrections and mistakes we had today and go on to next week. We will play better. l hoping to see Perriman in action next week. :)

1. First of all these games happen stuff happens, we have seen this before. They show up lay an egg come back and do better the next week. These are professionals on a good team that knows how to come back from this. We lacked in discipline and communication, like most losses this team has put together they lacked in those two things. Its that simple burn the tape nothing to see here. Plus its preseason who gives a hoot.

2.This is a superbowl ready squad. Yep I said it we have one of the deepest rosters in the league and the most talented. We are going to hoist the trophy at the end of the year mark my words. We have a superbowl QB at the peak of his prime. We got the best o line best d line, one of the best line backing corps, best running game. Believe it or not we have a solid receiving corps. The secondary will be very solid this year. Despite injuries which I will get to. We have one of the top three rosters in the league and I stick by that despite that performance as explained in point # 1.

3. Injuries aren't that concerning really, every game like this has people go down and we think its the end of the world. In reality most will be back and kicking by week 1 in time for the season that counts. About half will be back next week to play in preseason week 3 which has the starters playing the longest. Even perriman's injury isn't that big a deal, yeah it might take a little while longer to get him into the system but the second he steps on the field opposing defenses have to respect him. We are fine.
