Next Up Preseason Game 3: Washington Redskins

95 posts in this topic

I agree we will make rg3 look like himself.

Which is a chicken with his head cut off running around trying to avoid getting hit, throwing interceptions, and getting the living crap knocked out of him. I will be surprised if he lasts the whole half, and def won't be suprised if afterwards cousins or McCoy ends up the permanent starter. You just sound foolish. Cmonnnn Mannnn.

RGIII was such a product of his running ability in his rookie season. I said it so often that if he were forced to be a pocket passer, he'd fail. What's happening? He's failing because he has to stay in the pocket. Imagine that.

Remember all that hype about running QBs are here to stay and will be the future? Good times.......

I really hope this is the game where we see Aiken run away with the #2 WR job. Not saying he has to play well, but I'd just like to see him show that he earned his spot early on. It's the Pre-Season so it's not like it matters but I'd still like to see something big from the first team offense. It would be nice to watch Aiken shine early on.

I'm surprised RG3 was cleared to play ... and I'd be even more surprised if they put him out there against our starters. That offensive line was so bad in their last game, Suggs and the boys may just end RG3's season.

Hmmmm. Our starting dline and two stud pass rushers in the front 7 vs a terrible offensive line with a qb who's a horrible pocket passer.

I like our odds.

And Joe Flacco vs a crappy defense?

I think we can win...

RG3 is playing for his job.  If he looks anything like he did in the previous two games you can bet the McCoy or Cousins era will start.

If we allow the Redskins offense with their pitter pat, ball patting, zero pocket presence jerk of a quarterback to score more than once and to move the ball in general against our first team I will be concerned going forward. That guy has no business looking good against a Ravens defense.

No Trent williams

Well having your best O lineman out does pose a problem for RG3.

I really want to see our DL go after it tomorrow.  Not wishing injury on anyone though.

I'm sorry. I was saying that he didn't play the previous week. I'm assuming he will be out there tomorrow but haven't heard.

I understood what you were saying.  Meaning Trent Williams didn't play vs the Lions when RG3 was destroyed.

I think Williams is still a no go vs us tomorrow.  I think they're sitting him until game 1.

A couple guys who I will be looking closely at tomorrow and how they play:

1.) Darren Waller- With Perriman and Campanaro both not playing this week, I hope to see Waller run with the first team quite often.

2.) Arthur Brown- He should have opportunities this week to make plays and show the coaches he can be reliable on special teams.  I still think we only keep 4 ILB's this year due to other needs so Brown is clearly on the bubble.

3.) Rashaan Melvin- Returning to practice yesterday puts him on track to play, although he may not play a lot.  I want to see how well he performs starting opposite of Smith.  We could see that lineup week 1 in Denver.

4.) James Hurst- With Monroe out Hurst has a chance to play a ton at Left Tackle.  With Monroe struggling and dealing with injuries last year and this preseason, it is not out of the question to think Hurst could be a LT option next year.

5,) Kapron Lewis-Moore- Terrible luck with injuries the past two years, but this is it in regards to him either making our team or being cut/PS.  If he shows well tomorrow and moves around well I think the coaches could opt to keep him over someone like Tyson, if not then he is probably destined for the practice squad.

Who does everyone else want to see tomorrow?

And that was with Ngata on the bench!

Yeah, I can't blame RGIII too much. He was blitzed at times and needed to change the play but he literally and I mean--LITERALLY had no time to drop back. It was as if he would take a step and get dropped.

Yeah everybody started sayin this was the biggest game of his career and all of a sudden he's not playing? Must have thought better of facing a ravens defense ready to take his head off.

Honestly that's good news for the Ravens. I think Cousins will give them a more realistic test as a pocket passer. Cousin isn't a good QB bit he reads the defense beyter and gets rid of the ball quicker. RG3 missing reqds and holding the ball wouldn't test the defense at all.

Also Jay Gruden calls a much different game for RG3, so again the defense will be tested more because Gurden opens the offense up more for Cousins imo. Wasn't excited for the first 2 preseason games but the season must be close because I'm very excited about this game.

I'm very excited to watch this game.  The Redskins were about 20th in total defense last year and rank 2nd in Preseason this year.

Campanaro and Perriman won't be playing, so we'll see S.Smith, Waller, Brown, Aiken, Nelson, Other Brown and Carter.

I expect to see Gilmore, Williams and Boyle.  That is a big hard nosed crew of tight ends.  Pitta was a lithe sort of tight end. Very nimble and athletic with quick sure hands.  Our trio are not like him, but they will do.

For our young receivers I have some advice... It is your ball.

When you see it in the air or even before its airborne, you are the one that determines its route. You know where the defender is. You know your path. You have the initial advantage and position to influence the ball into your possession. During moments the position and advantage can be altered, but the ball always belongs to you and never the man attempting to deny it to you.

If the Ravens would have blown out the Eagles and looked amazing, all the sudden we are going 19-0 and winning the Super Bowl. But since we got our butts kicked, and it's the preseason, it doesn't matter and we weren't trying.

Some people on here just make me laugh.

The coaches want to win preseason games, but not at all costs.  Let's see how we look.

The Redskins have a legit running game and their WRs are proven veterans. Their defense is improving but still not great. They'll be a good test.

Agree the Skins should not be underestimated.  Cousins can get freakish accurate. It will be a test for our secondary with Webb and Melvin out.

I really want to see a few guys run with the first team against the Redskins. They Are

1. Darren Waller:  Campanaro probably wont play so more opportunities should be there for Waller to show his stuff with Flacco and the first team.

2. Rashaan Melvin:  Webb will most likely be held out so Melvin should get the first crack at outside CB opposite of Smith

3. Z'darius Smith: Suggs is the last guy on the team that needs to play in this game.  I would like to see Smith get snaps in Suggs place behind the first team defensive line.

4. Tray Walker: Smith should not have to play that much in this game (maybe 1 quarter), I would like to see Walker take his spot opposite of Melvin for a few snaps.

5. Nick Boyle/Maxx Williams:  Both of these guys should see a lot of snaps with Flacco against the Redskins and I think they will perform well.

6. Arthur Brown:  I know everyone will blast me for this one, but I really want to see what Brown can do with a fair amount of snaps with the first team.  Daryl Smith does not need to play to much in this game so Brown should be able to see a lot of snaps next to Mosley.  We have to find out what he has

I want to see Arthur Brown.  Let's see what he has in this game.

book this. This is the game we make Rg 0 look like RG3. We will lose..trend on twitter again and go down all the power rankings

suits me.

I don't like our D. I think our O will come along.

The D worries me..esp down the depth chart.

We'll lets see here. We didn't look very good vs Philly and expect the D to rise here.

I'm surprised RG3 was cleared to play ... and I'd be even more surprised if they put him out there against our starters. That offensive line was so bad in their last game, Suggs and the boys may just end RG3's season.

Yeah, RG3 is a no go again.  You look back at the year he excelled and it was all about his ability to run and run well. Then Haloti Ngata body whipped his knee and that part of RG3's game looks gone. RG3 played in a brace after that until his leg hyperextended in the playoffs. (We lost that game Ngata nailed him by the way.) Now RG3 holds in the pocket and gets pummeled.  I haven't seen any sign RG3 can return to a viable QB unless he can take off and run. His career looks short whichever option is chosen.

Bob3 saw this pic just before he spoke with the neurologist.

Please put Darren Waller with the 1st team offense.

Flacco to Waller will be like Stafford to Megatron!

Add Nelson and Daniel Brown to that mix as well. They have shown good potential and I believe if they have a strong enough showing, Aiken or even Marlon Browns position on the team may be up in the air.

lol riiiiight. Sorry bro but Aikens spot is definitely not up in the air , if anything he has almost got the # 2 role locked down. Now marlon seems to have fallen down the depth chart a bit , but he's still pretty much a lock seein as he's the only receiver besides SSS who has legitimate experience being a starter. Still think these next two preseason games could alter the formula.

Once you get past S.Smith and the rookies, we sure seem to have a bunch of guys that have a history of unsoundness:

Aiken

M. Brown

Butler

Aiken and Brown each had about 250 yards last year. Marlon came on in the playoff game, but just don't see anything engraved in stone.

What they ought to do is play all three of them hard this game and maybe the decision will be made for the F.O.

What's working against Nelson is his age and position switch, but he looks good and has produced in his limited opportunities. He and Waller are riding the same "know what defenders do" advantage.

I don't think RG actually had a concussion. They just wanted to make it easier for him to avoid more scrutiny. I would caution everyone calling their line complete garbage here. I'm not sure if Trent Williams is playing this game but that's a top LT. They also have two young guys getting their welcome to the NFL moment. They could easily turn things around. They're talented guys.
