[News] Darren Waller, Nick Boyle Impressing In Philly

42 posts in this topic

I like what I am seeing out of T. Nelson as well.  Harbs was very complimentary of Nelson in his presser yesterday when asked about Nelson saying that he (Nelson) is a very good route runner, good feel for getting in zones, getting open, very good hands and has put himself in the conversation.

Imho, I think Nelson could be a good backup to Campanero if God forbid he were to get another injury.

Peeriman Knees are fine; they're probably training him without letting us know and going to unleash him during the season!

Ozzie is a genius

Ravens fifth-round TE Nick Boyle has made "far more plays" at training camp than second-rounder Maxx Williams. Boyle also appeared to play ahead of Williams in Baltimore's preseason opener. The college-to-pro transition for tight ends is as difficult as any position, and all signs point to Williams coming along slowly. He remains a worthwhile Dynasty hold, but we can't expect a year-one impact from Williams at this stage. Related: Nick Boyle Source: Baltimore Sun Aug 21 - 2:31 PM

He's our 2nd choice and you can expect that our Three Amigos will all make plays.

Yeah...Not sure what to do with him. Practice Squad I hope.

Waller does two things Marlon can't: Jumps aggressively at highest point and outruns DBs on fades because of speed

One more thing as well.

I can believe Nick Boyle is making an impression,... the TE depth is not like the Receivers and there is no definitive incumbent to unseat; no offense to Crockett Gilmore who "made his bones" last year!   ^_^

I seriously hope, in Darren Waller's case, you're right, Ryan Mink. It was the media who gave us all these glowing reports of the prowess of Tandon Doss, Deonte Thompson, Yamon Figurs , Laquan Williams and David Reed and where are they now?   :34853_shakehead:

Sometimes we need you all in the media to be a bit more objective!   :oldwiseman:

We have three TE's. 4 with Pitta on PUP.  We're keeping the three. This is gonna get good.

Waller is ahead of the game from where they probably thought he'd be when they drafted him. He's getting a lot of pub, so he has to make the 53 this year. He's grown so much in this short time...I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is his floor...who knows how high his ceiling is.

He's learning and he has a lot going for him.

I'd love to see this translate into a superb "Find" for us, but our prowess picking WR's leaves much to be desired!

On the other hand, we're about due and Perriman's seemingly not burning up the turf at the Ravens' Complex!

Perriman and Waller along with S Smith and Camp will be our effective rotation as the season evolves.

Looks like a Perriman replacement. Would be nice if the Ravens could trade Perriman for top AFC corner and I would bet big money on the Ravens in a  Superbowl this year.

Give Perriman a chance to heal.  If he stays sound, this will be one of the top receiver drafts in NFL lore.

I think that Waller and Boyle will both make the 53 man roster and as the season progresses contribute more and more. Although they will both have their opportunities early (Boyle with Pitta being on the PUP list for 6 weeks) and Waller with Perriman (missing most of camp... it may take Perriman some time to get up to speed - where Waller could step in and do some damage right away!_)

agree, but want Perriman back soon.

Perriman at 6'2 who runs a 4.2 is just as freaky as Waller at 6'6 running a 4.40...Both are keepers, and both will shine in this offense....Anyone putting Perriman down because he has missed practice due to injury is crazy....In OTA's he was abusing all the DB's, give the guy a break...

Hes a freak

I'm teling you guys Darren Waller need to start with Joe in this preason. Something is special about this kid and I got a good feeling he a Calvin type player only he's bigger and faster. Perriman is going to beast too once it said in done. His speed is scary.

Waller is bigger but not faster than Calvin Johnson.  Maybe now he is, but not when Calvin came into the league. Calvin was a freak

I'll say it again. If the last WR spot comes down to a choice between Waller or Brown, it's Waller all the way. He's bigger, faster, and has better hands. And he's going to get better. Marlon has regressed.

Let Waller and Butler start next games. There is no reason to risk Smith Sr, Aiken, or Campanero. Games to should be backups and bubble players. Give them every opportunity to prove themselves.

Thats not a bad idea. Dont forget about that converted safety too, forgot his name, he looks to have some good route understanding for defensive guy.

Also seems to draw more penalties, gets open better, and blocks well. I like M Brown but I love the potential Waller brings to the table

Ah, yeah, that guy.

Looked very good in what little playing time he got last week, and you know Harbs just loves guys who can play more than one position. Can't wait to see what he does tonight.

I know the Eagles game was a bust but I did see some more improvement by Waller, Daniel Brown making a point to stay on and butler and carter kinda drop in production. I would really like to see Waller and Brown on the outside next game with Butler, or maybe even Nelson in the slot and see how that works out. Both Brown and Waller are big guys who can carry defenders and to be honest I think Flacco would do well with two big targets to throw to along side Gilmore and Williams. Good Redzone Guys too.
