Preseason 2 - Baltimore Ravens at Philadelphia Eagles

I did too. I think that shoulder injury hurt him I just don't know if the arm strength is there.  I agree he is a smart quarterback who doesn't make a lot of mental mistakes, but as I said earlier him against elite defenses I just don't see it being a good match at this point. Especially if Perriman begins developing into the weapon we hope you need a guy behind Flacco who can take advantage of that speed

Arm strength is the biggest downfall.  Put him against some above average DBs and they are making breaks on these balls that these 3rd and 4th stringers can't.  I actually really like Renner, but I don't think the QB qualities you look for are there outside of the mentality.

I just don't know what can be assessed after that mess. Run game looked good early. Lack of ability to stretch the field and a poor game by our QBs got the ball rolling down hill fast.

Defense was poor, but Eagles aided BIG TIME with some seriously damaging bogus calls. Particularly 2 personal fouls and a couple drive extending illegal contact plays.

Numerous illegal contact and some of the replays indicated DBs barely touching the receiver. I can only hope that this will be like last year, where the preseason was marred by close officiating, only to be loosened back up come regular season. When refs take over the game like that, it is a travesty.

Combination of bad things.

1. Flacco started slowly

2. Suggs was flagged for a fair hit on Bradford and from that point on it was Flags for the Ravens.

3. Injuries...the Offensive Line was tattered. Schaub is too immobile to not have an adequate Line.

4. Campanaro's absence was very troubling

5. Our Defensive Line wasn't good. Hopefully that is not a harbinger.

The good.

Arthur Brown played pretty well.

Not really sure there was that much more good.

Point taken about Perriman and the speed downfield, but I still like his football IQ, leadership and his cool head in 2 min drills.

I say we hand out lifetime bans for people who post the first post without a pool picture.

I guess the football gods didn't like that we screwed up the pool pic this week. Nevermore!

Can't disagree with either of those posts.

How do you explain tonight's beat down?

I think the game got away from them early with the turnovers and their TD on Special Teams and the penalties really hurt us tonight. I am worried about some of the injuries, especially to the o-line.

Flacco didn't start at all really.

DL is a worry. OL too.

What was streak we had going with that pool post? Was it a long run?

The starters will probably play a lot longer next week because the last pre-season game is only 5 days after Redskins game. I don't think the best players will even suit up in Atlanta.

They won't.  The last preseason game is historically handled by the lowest men on the totem pole.

Zeus, we started the game with 4 out of 5 of our starting Oline'smen on the bench with ouchies...

Ok, and that explains Flacco performance how?

I can certainly agree with you there, he looks like with more time he makes the right reads and generally is in position to make something happen

This...  by Grapple Raven:

Just a little perspective...

After listening to Harbs, Sizzle, and a few of the other players in their locker room interviews, it appears that we were without communication all of the first half of the game.  Harbs said we didn't have it for most of the first half at all, and when it did start to come back it was very crackly and the guys could get or understand the calls.

Harbs seemed to indicate that it was preseason and they didn't do any game planning as they are still evaluating players and looking for players at certain positions, which is normal for us at this point in preseason.  Sizzle said they didn't game plan and they definitely didn't see any of that in practice. Sizzle also alluded to the fact that generally no one is familiar with Chip's style of offense except those that probably see it most within the division.

Would seem that ole' Chip kind of gave us a shot to the bough by game planning a bit more than we were expecting, lol.  It would make sense as he has a lot to prove to validate all his offseason changes.  Granted we did have a lackluster performance by the ones at points, but it does put some things in perspective!  It is kind of hard to perform in an away stadium with little to no communication on a preseason game plan when your opponents have both.

> Mom  I cannot accept the excuse that the game wasn't planned and the radio was down.  That smells of unprepared (your choice of words) .  We looked calous, lost and ready for a slaughter. What makes this worse is the fact we schrimmaged against them.

I know....  sounded like "excuses" to me too, but we have typically been torched in preseason by someone, usually.  Last year, not so much, but yeah, I get it.

This pool pic described what happened to us in Philly

I had a much better one...  just didn't know how to post it.  I don't have a photo-sharing account.   I PM'd it to one of the regulars.  I'm sure we'll see it at some point.  I'll let you know when we do.
