[News] Late For Work 8/20: Steve Smith Grumpy After Missing Wife's Birthday, Schools Eagles Rookie

It's nice to hear Flacco state that he's already taken a big pay day, and that it no longer matters as much. The reality is that he knows the Ravens will offer him a generous extension, and he's probably not going to break the bank. He'll still be up there with the top 5 or so in average salary, but the cap hits will likely be a bit more friendly. With the rising cap -- Joe, the Ravens, and us fans should be in a great position for the next 5-7 years.

Perriman's knee struggles with Osgood-Schlatter seem to have had more of an impact than I knew about throughout his career. The fact that his father had it also but had a 10 year NFL career is good news though. The condition zeros in primarily on adolescents so I hope that Perriman is outgrowing the worst phase of it. No wonder the medical team is being ultra conservative. Hoping Perriman can persevere and overcome the disease and have a successful career like his father.

I just love what Campanaro is doing. I could tell from the get go that this kid has enormous talent. He was an absolute steal in the seventh round. Just, Please, Camp, take care of the one and Only question mark; you're ability to stay on the field. Develop durability, and you will be a star in this league. He belongs in the slot, though, not outside, even though he Can play from there. And about Joe's money. Man, just how many millions are enough, for Pete's sake?!? I really hope that Joe, our already millionaire QB, thinks more about helping his team stay together than just exactly where he stands in regards to which QB makes the most millions. It sounds like maybe he will from the way he's talking, but one never knows. You know doggone well that his agent is going to push him to squeeze as much as he can out of the Ravens. Be your own man, Joe. Think of the team and Super Bowl prospects. You ain't hurting financially. I mean, you can pay your bills, can't you? You know that you can already afford to buy Anything you or your family wants. Remember who you are. Remember that you celebrated your last mega-contract at McDonalds. Stay who you are, Joe. No ego stuff, huh? Help your team. Wouldn't it be nice to give Ozzie, at least, the Chance to decide to spend enough on the guard position to keep you protected by Both Yanda and KO? Maybe you should talk to Ozzie and work out a deal with him. You'll be reasonable IF he agrees to use saved money to do everything he can to keep the best guard twosome in the league protecting you. Just sayin'.

Lets just go 4 wide against Denver...All game...ha ha ha.... :)

Right about now I'm not so sure we've got four healthy wide receivers that were real good bets to make the final 53. Perriman's out. Brown's out. I guess we could send TEs out wide, but it would be real nice to get all our receivers on the field so that bright roster battle could proceed in force.

I am a pediatrician. I have treated Osgood-Schlatter's Disease frequently over the years. It is a child and adolescent disease that gets better when bones stop growing. Some adults will have easy bone bruising over that area even though the process has stopped. However, it is more of an issue with pain at the site than it is with impairment of movement. Thus there is no structural damage to the area. It is actually not in the knee but in the prominent portion of the tibia just below the knee.

Does anyone know what the heck was Harbaugh jabbering on about?? He looked like a crazy person. And I'm not sure that in a good way either.

I'll assume that the Raven's knew about this condition before the draft, and got the OK from their medical staff (let's hope they knew about it!). So where do we go from here with Perriman?

I think it would be safe to presume that the Ravens scouts, Ozzie and medical team had to be fully aware that Perriman had Osgood-Schlatter disease. I simply can't imagine otherwise, like it was some big secret nobody knew about until now. My assumption is that the Ravens must have felt confident enough in Perriman's abilty to work with or overcome this disease to use a first round draft pick.

I don't know who evaluates the Steelers wide recievers but Bisciotti should just offer that guy a million dollar salary. They're on a run of Hines Ward, Plaxico Buress, Santonio Holmes, Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Emanuel Sanders, and I'm sure either Wheaton or Bryant will end up being amazing. Our drafted receiver list reads like an obituary column. Frankly I'm amazed that a franchise that seemingly does everything well can consistently fail in this one specific area.

I hope Joe is mature enough to realize that he had his pig payday and is set for life (100 million!!!) and that he should give the "hometown discount" for everything else moving forward so he can have a stronger team around him and make it a lock for the HoF in 20 years by having 5 super bowls under his belt. :)

Well Mr. Smith, if you and your wife can't celebrate her birthday 4 days later, you both need some growing-up to do. That kind of whining is something you expect from a child, and most certainly not Raven-like. Now play ball and cash that check.

Godfather, thanks for providing your medical explanation of Osgood-Schlatter disease in clear layman terms. I feel more confident in Perriman to work through this painful condition. A big sigh of relief from me to know that there is not structural damage as a result.

The medical staff is just being cautious with Perriman's knee injury, why would they rush with the 1st round draft pick, still got 24 days to go before the season starts. Plenty of time still IF they even let him start. Not like we don't have enough receivers with talent. Sure his speed would be a bonus, but the Ravens would still should be a dangerous team this year without him. My opinion only. GO RAVENS!

marlon brown has been a disappointment since his rookie season. he needs to wake up from his coma once he is cleared to practice again. hope camponaro can stay healthy. he has the wes welker factor that could kill defenses but he just seems fragile imo.

So we waste a #1 pick on a lame receiver.....nothing new with this team....just chuck the pick out the door and next time do a tiny bit more research into who we are picking up!!! Oh wait....nope still not practicing!!....On the upside Camp is really stepping up and staying healthy which is a good thing but the is NO excuse for this Mispick!!! SMH

For those panicking about Perriman's adolescent knee condition, please refer to the orthopedic doctor's tweet who unequivocally states that that particular condition has no bearing on the current situation with Perriman. So, let's be positive and not negative Nancys' about our star prospect!

That would be Mike Tomlin (seriously, look it up), so kind of a conflict of interest.

Every post you have always have 5+, thumbs down or more and for good reason. Perriman isnt a bust just because he has a strain. Get off his back. All your post are filled with negativr garbage that isnt remotely true.

Wish Ravens could pick fans. Some might be a mispick lol. Perriman will be fine. Why take a chance on more injury for pre season football. I am sure he will be ready when the time comes.
