[News] News And Notes 8/19: Intensity Ramps Up, But Doesn't Cross Line

I hope you all put some of Steve Smith's post-practice presser up later where he commented on Chip Kelly's "tough" practices...

"There's no chatter about how his practices are. Have you heard about our practices? Exactly. We're three hours. This 2:15 man, this is like apple juice. It's great."

Harbs was probably like " just because they finish early doesn't mean we do, just means more time in the film room"......Coach never stops coaching, and will take the CBA rules to the limit to get the most out of the players.....

"There was reportedly a scuffle on another field between backups before Eagles quarterback Tim Tebow stepped in to help break it up." Why am I not surprised lol.

Campanaro must do and will do big things this year because he will be the man next year after SSS retires. Just keep building confidence.

"Perriman did watch some of practice from the sidelines, which he usually doesn't do in Baltimore."                                                                                                                                                                                                                          He hasn't been watching the team practice until now? Perriman's learning curve is going to be awfully steep as it is when(ever) he gets back. Going to practices and observing how things work in the NFL would definitely help him get a feel for how the team does things. IDK- to me it's pretty discouraging to read that, until now, he hasn't even been on the sidelines to watch the team practice. But to end on a positive note- I'm very glad Campanaro is doing great things and I think Carl Davis is going to be a beast. Go Ravens!

To be fair to Perriman, when they are home, he was probably spending his time in the training room trying to get his knee straight, also we don't know if he was watching from inside....I seriously doubt from what he did at OTA's that he is going to slack off now, and i bet there is no one more disappointed than him...He came in with that #1 pick tag, and being a WR in this organization, which we have been kind of snake bitten on, so i'm pretty sure he was coming in wanting to change that trend....

would you like to try bringing the weight room outside for him so he can rehab it with proper equipment? Would you like to study the playbook with him on the sideline in a hectic camp environment?

We were all excited to see Elam try to prove himself this year but I hope he doesn't try to have a superhero come back, just sit the year out and try again next year, no need to risk re-tearing it in a come back. The biggest concern about Camp is still on the table, the injury issues, we've all known from the get go that he could be special...but he needs to be on the field to do it, we'll see if he can stay healthy.

i hate these combined team drills... its higher intensity and greater likelihood of injury.. vets like steve smith should be able to sit out and rest for preseason/regular season

Maybe Perriman is inside watching film or going over the playbook I am pretty sure he just isn't sitting around doing nothing. Just because he isn't watching practice doesn't mean he isn't being productive. He maybe receiving treatment to help his knee heal faster. People are always so quick to assume the worst.

Panthers Wr Benjamin tore his ACL today. I am 27 and only have been watching pro football very close the past 10 years and it seem that there are so many guys that go down with very serious injuries left and right now a days. For my fans that have been watching football a lot longer than I have, were there so many injuries back in the 80s and 90s as it is in the league today because this is just getting ridiculous guys are dropping left and right.

The injuries were worse back in the day, and a ACL used to be a career ending injury.....And the rules weren't as sticted as they are now...You could pile drive QB's, go head hunting on WR's on crossing routes...And the equipment wasn't nearly as good...

So it's actually better now wow that's amazing because its like people are dropping with season ending injuries every day.

a lot more non contact injuries....Lots of ACL injuries occur from just making a cut and their knee gives out...And players are bigger and faster, back when i started watching, O-Linemen were considered big at 285, now they all are pretty much 300 plus...

I have often wondered what the effect of the playing suface has on these type of injuries.  I know there are pros and cons to both, artificial turf vs. grass, but it would be interesting to find several independent studies discussing the subject. I am going to have to research that one day when I have a spare moment, lol.

Love the new t-shirt Harbs~

I hope Rick Wagner is going to be okay!

If Hurst can play left, he can play right. His biggest downgrade at RT over Wagner would be his run blocking ability, especially one-on-one (rarer in a zone blocking scheme, thank goodness, but still happens on outside runs and short yardage).

Lardarius Webb and Jah Reid,... out to nagging injuries? Who'da thunk, huh?

By the end of these practices, the Ravens will continue to have energy and pop, while the Eagles will be gassed. So much for fast paced practices of the Eagles. One observation that I heard was the Ravens practiced much better towards the end of practice and won most battles because the Eagles seem tired. That should tell you once and for all whose camps are more brutal and help with conditioning! I don't want to hear another word about how fast the Eagles run their practices. To quote an ex-NFL player - child please...

I love what I saw from Campanaro last Thursday, and what I just read about him having such a good day at practice. This is Exactly what he needed to do; stack good performances on top of each other Without getting any more dings or injuries. Reading that he was Consistently finding open spots in the field is not at all surprising since that has Always been one of skills or abilities. He has many others, so I'm hoping he just keeps doing what he's been doing. I really want this kid to make the team because I think he's got loads of talent, and some of his particular skills I'm not seeing a lot of from other receivers. If he can just stay healthy, this kid is really going to add something to this team, a top notch and dangerous slot receiver. Keep it up, Camp!

I will second this. Hearing the term "mismatch problem" is exactly what we wanted from Camp.

The fact of playing shifty routes with strong hands is a huge bonus for us in the slot. Even in Thursday's game his YAC was great to see.

As much as we like to go size over quality or, the most mentioned name when we hear WR, but Campanaro is consistently proving that he deserves to be in this starting WR lineup. If players truly earn their positions based on their gameplay then campanaro has earned a spot.

no one has proven they deserve anything except a little more consideration after one good preseason game and a couple nice practices

Our WR's are giving their best stuff. Trestman has everyone involved. I'm waiting to see if the Eagles are as good a host to the Ravens as the Ravens were to the 49er's last year. Good practice competition.
