32 posts in this topic

I'll take Pitta at midseason. Thats a Bonus. Perriman MRI reveals nothing wrong, good. So he should be back soon.

Sounds like Perriman will be out until mid-season at this rate

Today, I was at the training camp faculty. It was an great experience. I give you some pointers what I saw. Darren Waller is a huge dude in person. This guy could be become a monster and be a big weapon for Joe. Marlon Brown and Terrance Brooks returns to practice still no Perriman. I didn't get to see Maxx Williams I don't know he had a day off or what so is Pitta. John Harbaugh is short compare to this guys. I saw Marc Trestman calling the plays as well. Steve Smith (with those cool visors on), Campanaro, DeAndre Carter, and Justin Forsett is so short compare on TV. Carl Davis is a huge dude in person as well and will be a great piece on the d-line. Joe looks good in practice and he is a huge guy. Bad news is that Justin Tucker miss two field goals one like a 47 yarder and the other one 60 field goal :( but he made the rest. I saw Suggs, Dumervil, CJ Mosley, and the rest of the crew as well. It was a great experience and I enjoy myself. I'm glad Dennis Pitta could return by week 7 and hopes he returns back to form. :)

Pitta comes back at mid season. By then, Williams, Boyle and Gilmore will have nearly half a season under their belts barring any injuries. These three guys will be playing, hopefully like a well oiled machine. How does Pitta fit into the scheme of things. Dennis should be with his family. Playing the game wasn't all that good and it could get worse if he decides to play again.

@Jim Giampaoli, I try to be objective on this so here is what I'll say. Ravens Perspective: We Just drafted 3 TEs in last 2 Years, after our Pro bowl caliber TE suffered hip injuries 2x and we feel great with this young group of deep talented TEs going forward.

Pitta Perspective: The fire burning desire, competative relentless nature of a athlete who just wants to play, who believes he owes it to himself, the franchise for believing in him.

My Perspective: Pitta at 60% is at worst the second best TE on our team, or dead even with Maxx Williams. Pitta at 80-100% is by far the best TE on the team receiving wise a true deep middle TE. What is the worst thst can happen? He reinjures his hip, on the bright side and Im sure Pitta feels the same... He has his BRAIN!! This isnt will all love and respect Junior Seau CTE etc, its a hip, if Pitta wants to return to field let him.. The worst outcome is the hip pops out and he'll have to recover, but Iwill never hold a man back from his dreams aslong as he can think for himself and believe in himself. And Pitta doesnt CTE or Brain issues... So let him comeback midseason

I'm good with him coming back mid season if he wants to play, he can mentor the young guys and when he comes back can be the #1 or 2 TE, we will have awesome rotation to keep our boys fresh during games.

If he decides he's not healthy enough and wants to retire I'm good with that too. Man has a ring and a family but he also has heart and pride so we shall see. All and all I hope the best for Dennis Pitta and his family.

Btw if he does come back I can't wait for his first TD so I can say "The white tight end. He's American Express. He's everywhere you want to be. Don't leave home without him" In my T-sizzle voice!

I don't usually comment on these articles, but as much as I would miss Pitta on the field, it's probably best for him not to come back if he doesn't want to. Health, longevity and family should be his priority right now.

"And what is being cleared to play entail in terms of liability and things like that?"

If I had to guess, I would say that unfortunately we have seen the last of Pitta in a Ravens game. If the Ravens organization is concerned about liability, I would have to say they do not think that he will be able to play without injuring the hip again. It was always exciting watching Dennis and Joe work together. I think those days are gone. Dennis will continue to use the facilities to rehab. When he has rehabbed as much as he ever will, then he should retire. But keep in mind that he has a contract with guaranteed money. I am not sure how that will effect his decisions on rehab and retiring. It will be interesting to follow for the next few months to see where this all goes.

pitta is a good guy but maybe he should move on. two broken hips may be a sign that his body may not be able to handle the brutality of of the sport. maybe pitta should get his agent could get him a job in broadcasting. after all, if theismann can do it he should have no problem.

More crap about Pitta. He is becoming the Brian Roberts of the Ravens. He "may" be ready by midseason. So what? What good is that? It is about time the Ravens made the tough call and told him to retire. One hip injury ok, but after a second one, when no one touched him, should be enough to tell anyone with a lick of common sense that he should not be on the football field. Getting ridiculous.

the way i see it is if gilmore williams and boyle are healthy and getting it done and flacco has a rhythm with these guys than there is no reason to activate pitta even for the playoffs. why disrupt the flow of the offense. now on the other hand if it looks as if the te position is hurting and pitta has been cleared to play than he will be activated and hopefully stays healthy

Have the Drs even cleared him to play yet? He may not get cleared by then, so the point may be moot. Also, with the other TEs building chemistry with Joe and the offense throughout camp and the first half of the year, would it really be beneficial to bring Pitta back in cold, just because he is able? He and Joe haven't connected on a play in almost a year, and he barely got to play last year, so his "connection" with Joe has almost been non-existent for 2 years now. So, even if he is able mid-year to come back, I don't think the front office should throw him in just because he can.

Don't get me wrong; I love Dennis and what he has done for the Ravens. It would be a great personal triumph to come back and get on the playing field. I just don't think it would be in the team's best interest at that point of the season.

The Ravens should not count on Pitta. Every day Perriman misses is a day he gets closer to being a BUST.

Thou shall not speak the truth hear Grasshopper, now drink the Kool-aid and sit down. We must build them up so they fall harder.

The way his contract is structured, there is no benefit to either Dennis or the team for him to retire this year. Our best financial option is to IR him if he can't play.

When someone posts "BUST" when referring to a rookie in mid-August, it is not surprising that those among us who are not eternal pessimists will disagree.

If not being a chronic naysayer means you are a Kool-aid drinker (and there is nothing in between), then count me among the latter.

At that rate, I guess if something showed on the MRI, his career would be over.

The same people that call rookies busts before the end of preseason are likely the same ones that did the same to Torrey just to turn around and sing his praises in week 3 and week 11 against Pittsburgh of his rookie season.

Anybody calling a player a bust for a non IR related injury in his rookie season is ridiculous to me.  Odell Beckham Jr. missed all of his rookie preseason didn't he?  What a bust.

More than likely Pitta only will return midseason if one of our tight ends gets injured or isnt performing up to par.

Now that Pitta is out for the first 6 weeks, unless Gillmore, Williams and Boyle can't pick up the slack (which I seriously doubt), I cannot realistically think that Pitta will be activated at the cost of cutting a position especially when he hasn't had any practice time with Joe. Why fix it if it ain't broke? That is what the front office will be thinking come time to activate Pitta. So, I wish Pitta the best, but health should be his main priority.
