[News] News And Notes 8/17: Terrell Suggs Challenges Offense

Obviously Perriman's injury is more serious than missing a few days as they stated 2 weeks ago, if he doesn't get on the field for the last pre-season game, he could hit the PUP list....That's obviously worst case scenario....at this point at least....JMO.....

I wonder, like everyone else, about the seriousness of Perriman's injury. Seems strange that they are not really proving much information about it. We will see.

Next man up..it's been the philosophy of the Ravens since the Brian Billick days! Brian Billick was on the NFL network speaking about his playoff experiences with the Ravens..it was weird because one of his co-anchors made a statement about how the Steelers eliminated the Ravens twice in Billicks time with the Ravens, and Billick smiled and said that is correct...I thought the Steelers only eliminated Baltimore once in Billicks time in Baltimore....

I think the Perriman ordeal is being blown up. He's our star 1st Rd wr and we don't want him being a little banged up going into the regular season. I think they are being extra cautious with him cause we invested a lot in him. After the full contact training camp days are over and they get back into regular week preperation they will ease him back in. As long as he can run full speed in a straight line he will help us a lot during the season.

Of a few things I'm certain. One of them is that Garret Downing is wasting his time trying to evaluate the roster.

Each day Perriman misses practice I get more and more worried

Well, I don't think there's a legit cause for worry - it's gonna heal.

The question is when the day comes when missing any more practices puts him in danger of not enough time to be ready for Week#1.

... and all this from an injury that was first labeled two weeks ago "nothing"...

He's not eligible for the PUP list since he participated in training camp. Granted, it was only one day, but he participated nonetheless.

Even if Perriman gets healthy , he has missed enough practice to fall behind. More than any other receiver , Flacco needs to get the timing down with him. He needs to work on his routes and hands. There is a lot of talent in the receiving corp and once Perriman get's involved and up to speed, he will add to what Ravens have. We could use him out the gate since the first 6 games are crucial.

Suggs is our defensive general and a very vocal leader. He deserves many more rings. Super Bowl and ring of honor. Anyone else see him on HBO Ballers Sunday. Vintage Suggs

Butler is still the star of practice but we need to see that translate to gameday this saturday. No doubt in my mind he can do it, he's got the tools he just needs to get over those gameday jitters.

Idk why Hensley was complaining about Suggs giving Schaub a hard time, hes being himself and also being a leader and holding the guys accountable I love it

Agreed...However, 12 no practice sessions indicate he is worse than reported and with that absense will not start come September. No PUP list announcement yet... I hope he can get involved

A friend who is employed at the Wells Fargo Bank where Perriman does his banking in Owings Mills, said on yesterday his knee is still wrapped. We all know they will never say the full extent of his injury. So, we wait.       :bowdownsmiley:

SUGGS monster is in the HOUSE! Keep beating them Suggs until morale improves! "football by beating left tackle Eugene Monroe" Man that's not good. Kansas City has some beast that will do the same. I'll be looking thru my fingers during that game.

"Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. and cornerback Rashaan Melvin got into a little shoving match after a drill. They each had a hold of each other%u2019s jerseys and then exchanged shoves before Hill stepped in between them and the team moved onto another drill. Smith and Melvin matched up against each other again several times later in the day, and there were no other issues between them" EXCELLENT. Steve toughing him up and Hill showing leadership! Hear that Geno?

Although usually I am a fan of Terrell Suggs shenanigans - I wouldn't be shocked if he has been grating on his teammates nerves throughout training camp. It's one thing to be exhorting your teammates and motivating them when you yourself are displaying the same energy and passion. However, he showed up to training camp not in excellent football shape and doesn't seem to be displaying the same passion that tells his teammates to have. I understand that he might be "saving himself" for when the real season starts but I feel like if someone like Steve Smith (or Ray Lewis if he were still playing) were saying it it would be much more motivating. They are the epitomy of toughness and heart.

I don't think they put him on the IR. All indications are that the injury isn't major, but it is taking longer than expected to heal. He is expected to be back sometime in camp, and even if he were forced to miss the first regular season game, they'll probably keep him on the active roster (if he goes on the IR-DR, he would have to sit out the first 6 games).

Harbaugh is working the system to the max. He doesn't care about preseason except to get through it with the fewest injuries possible. They already know who will make the team and be important components of a deep playoff run. Holding important players out for "injuries" is one of his methods for dealing with a preseason that is too long and potentially harmful to the team's success. Best example of this so far is the Steelers losing Suisham, the most accurate kicker in their history. Given the massive importance of a reliable kicker this year, this loss was devastating. Imagine if we lost Tucker. A great kicker is worth 3 wins a year and this year maybe more. The Steelers will be lucky to go 8-8 without Suisham.

So holding out players is Harbaughs goal. Perriman's "injury" will miraculously heal prior to the opening game in Denver. At that time we will still not know exactly what it was. Go ask a doctor.....LOL.
