[News] Eisenberg: Could Ozzie Newsome Be Hall Of Fame Double Inductee?

17 posts in this topic

That's Bull and they know it. At the pace Ozzie is going, he should be able to make it again. It would be under a different category. One for player and one for GM. I don't understand why Thats not possible?

If Ozzie wins one more Super Bowl it's a rap! He can look down at every single one of them HOFers and know he should have the hall named after him.

If this was world football (soccer) Ozzie would be called Sir Ozzie Newsome by his peers and the media. Just sayin ;)

Simple answer why not and that is because its the Ravens. I guarantee if it were still the Browns it would be possible. Modell may never make it in and that is a real shame.

I kinda thought you could go twice. I guess it makes sense that if you're in you're already in. What is amazing is that he keeps us in the mix year in and year out. He uses everyone for their talents and develops talent on and off the field. Employees are always leaving the Ravens for more money and larger jobs. It's a testament to him and a well built organization.

Ozzie should publicly announce that he refuses to go into the Hall as a GM until those deadbeat writers from Cleveland stop blackballing Art Modell's well overdue induction.

You can.  George Halas is in THREE times: as a player, as a coach, and as a "contributor."  Eisenberg and the HoF guy don't know what they're talking about.

Go, Ozzie, Go! Well deserving and hope he gets the recognition. BTW.... did anyone notice that former R's speedster Deonte T. caught a 51 yd TD pass last night. Speaking of speedsters,(of which the R's are in short supply)what's the latest on Perriman? The longer he's out and the longer they're quiet about it the worse it's looking.

To me it's a no brainer. I've always expected Ozzie to get the nod when it's all said and done. Never even thought about the double inductee "problem". He absolutely ought to be recognized for his work as GM and that should be separate from his playing contribution. I guess if you can't go in twice then Ozzie will be the only one in that "elite among the elites" club.

Halas has only been inducted once (1963) as a founder, coach, owner but not as a player....

If it's anyone, it should be Ozzie. I just don't believe in inducting someone into a Hall of Fame more than once. He's already inducted. Maybe a football lifetime acheivement award.

I agree that there should be some kind of awards given out to these people that were very successful in football after their playing days are over, after all his achievement he has done for the Ravens, he deserves to be honored as well as many more of the successful GM of other teams, he did this at the young age of 59 which is a little shocking to me. The Raven Nation should all be proud of him as our GM, you won't find another one like him. I feel that the NFL should have a seperate HOF for Players,Manager,Head Coach,General Managers,Owners, etc, etc, etc

I thought the the hall of fame honored individuals for their accomplishments in whatever capacity, just so happens Newsome has been "Great" in more then one,and here is something else to consider... I doubt the league would let anyone from Baltimore, bee the first at anything, regardless of their credentials; and without a doubt he has the creds!. I've asked that question long ago,if he would go in as an administrator hall of famer, and this guy throwing cold water on the idea should be fired, because he surely doesn't have any idea what Newsome has accomplished up to this point, and as was pointed out can anyone think of another candidate, and just for the record I spell hall of fame,in 'lower case' letters,as long as ART MODELL is kept out,it doesn't deserve the honor of a proper name, because for that omission, the hall has lost it's meaning!!

@Crabcakes&Football you don't think what he has accomplish deserves hall consideration, when others have for doing the same thing, and yes a lifetime achievement award would also be appropriate, because the honor of such accomplishments would be the achievement of a lifetime!!
