LOL terry ford talked about ravens for a solid 2 hours tonight haha. hilarious

They should be.

By the way, for those who say vinnie and rob don't talk enough football, I heard what is on the docket for today and it is wall to wall football. High school football.

Okay folks, a couple things. 105.7 The Fan is WJZ-FM, not WFAN. Secondly, anyone who thinks they don't talk football is high. They have a freaking Monday Morning Quarterback show, first of all. I work in sales for the station and can tell you that even though we are the flagship of the Orioles, the ratings skyrocket during football season. To say they lack in Ravens coverage during football season is ignorant. Of course they are Orioles focused when the Orioles are in a playoff race in mid August (although out of it now). How long do you expect them to go on about Breshad Perriman's knee? There's really only so much you can say about that. Yes, I work there so I am biased, but I work there only because I was a fan of their 24/7 sports coverage long before I was employed by CBS. There's a reason it's the #1 ranked station in the market for men. Comparing it to WNST is absolutely laughable... WNST doesn't even show up on Nielsen ratings lol... And you really think 105.7 gives a damn about hockey? Really? No. They might mention the Caps as a side note for like 2 seconds, and that's it.

dude, nobody wants to listen to them talk about preseason games. thats just fact. they will talk ravens when regular season starts.

and dont use the "i dont have time to listen" excuse. that doesnt work.

ok, today i tuned in for a half hour on 3 seperate occasions. the orioles season is DONE, there is a .001% chance they find a way into the playoffs, they look like hot garbage and they are just short of being mathematically eliminated...

in 90 minutes of listening, they talked about how disappointing the orioles season was and venting about it, and they spent about 20 minutes talking about dunbar high school football.

any mentions of the ravens? in 90 minutes of MY listening, not a SINGLE mention of the ravens, meanwhile justin, scott, and spiegel spent my entire morning commute talking about the ravens. you say nobody wants to talk about preseason games, well how about discussing the upcoming season, rather than dwelling on the orioles offseason mistakes.

stop going as far out of your way as possible just to be the opposition here. 105.7 is sickeningly favored towards the orioles, hell just 2 years ago i loved the station, both teams were winning and both teams got solid and knowledgeable coverage, it is not like that anymore, not by a long shot, why do you seem to be the only person who thinks otherwise?

my point exactly. to say "they talked about football" is sort of a duh statement, its football season, they should talk football, but the fact that the season starts in a little over a week, and we are surprised when they talk about football.. well that is saying something, especially when you consider that the ravens fanbase far outweighs the orioles fanbase in this town.

Stanley Cup playoffs got more coverage than the ravens draft, fact.

another fact, talking about the stanley cup playoffs spurred either vinnie or rob(cant remember) into a half hour discussion about kids hockey, also more coverage than the ravens draft.

in the entire 3 hours per day i listened to the show during the draft, they had one segment about the draft, a guy called in at the end and spent about 20 minutes on the phone saying breshad perriman is a torrey smith clone. aside from that? the only draft coverage was "now we have college playbook comin up after the break where were gonna discuss jameis winston" or melvin gordon, or kevin white, marcus mariota, or leonard williams, guys we had no shot of getting and guys we wouldve had no desire to get even if they were in our range.

you must be biased, because i have been there through it, i have heard it, it is painful. i just find it hard to believe i spend over a hour a day listening to this station and i miss these multi-hour football segments every single day.

There's so much more that they can talk about besides Perriman's knee. For example, this is the last week of pre-season, did they discuss the games and performances of those that played? Did they talk about who should be on the team? Do they interview analysts, allow fans to call in and discuss the Ravens, etc... I find it funny that you're saying there's not much Ravens news to talk about before the season starts, when the Ravens news section on this site puts out at least 3-4 new articles a day. Maybe it's just me, but there's a TON of things to discuss regarding the Ravens before the season starts.

What station are they on?  B/C I'm currently listening to 105.7 (first time listening) and in the 1.5 hrs that I've listened, they haven't mentioned the Ravens once. The ONLY mention of the Ravens was during the commercial break and the news update mentioned Pitta was placed on PUP.

Please stop stating everything is an opinion and everything you type is fact. Again, it doesnt work.

For example, its an oriole flagship station and you complain about baseball talk during baseball season. You got a guy that works for 105.7 telling you they cover ravens during the regular season and youre stating that’s his opinion, and they should abruptly discuss ravens football during summer months … are you seeing the pattern here?

i listen to the station everyday. the guy who works at 105.7 has already admitted that he is biased. and you are the only person opposing here besides him, do YOU notice a pattern? i dont need you to tell me im wrong, i listen to the station, have for years, and i have noticed a drastic change in discussion topics, a change so drastic it makes it hard to keep listening, but i still tune in hoping to catch whatever small bits of coverage they MAY offer that day. you telling me that im wrong doesnt mean its actually wrong. the orioles are essentially eliminated from the playoffs after a horrible 2nd half of the season, and the ravens are making roster cuts and about to start the season, and are actually playing televised games(even if its exhibition), but they would prefer to discuss the glory days of last years orioles team and whine and moan about how they didnt resign cruz and miller, instead of talk about this perennial juggernaut that actually cares about winning. wanting a respectable amount of ravens coverage this time of year, considering the circumstances, is not an unreasonable expectation, and thats not asking to cover the ravens in the summertime during baseball season like you claim, that is asking local media to give us some insight on our team who is 3/4 of the way through preseason and is a little over a week away from taking another legit shot at a ring.

im done arguing with the only person on this page who wants to purposely go against the grain just because. tune in and listen for yourself.

he mentioned he may be biased because he's rational and understands that his employment could make people like you react the way you are. but acting like you know more about the station then he does is just bad judgement.

theres also many other rational people in this thread that know how business works, it's baseball season, they are a oriole flagship station and they will talk Ravens when the regular season starts. it isnt rocket science.

The Redskins have what I wish we had in terms of radio/television coverage.

980 am spends a ton of time on their local team. Not just discussing them generally either. They break down offensive line play, defensive play calls, broadcast directly from training camp and basically talk football in a very relaxed way.

They also have a half hour televised program that airs 365.

I agree, plus Cooley is very good, Doc is excellent among others.   The DC market is one of the largest in the nation, thus they get excellent ratings.  Vinny is a dope, I mean look at what he did when he was with the Redskins.  He totally dismantled them, traded their draft picks for old players, gave Haynesworth a 100m contract, hired Jim Zorn.  Almost traded 2 first round picks for Chad Johnson when he was in the final couple years in the league (2008) to be exact.

There aren't any talk radio hosts in the Baltimore area who can intelligently discuss Ravens football, so don't bother looking for any.

End thread.

Makes the whole "the NFL is out to get him" theory kind of silly when you think about it...

105.7 The Fan. 98 Rock some. Good luck. Lots of idiots call in.

Dave in Salisbury on 105.7 makes me want to drive my car into oncoming traffic. Everything that comes out of that guys mouth makes me question if he even watches sports.

105.7 the fan has been talking Ravens all day. Tuned in this morning and they were talking ravens. Tuned back in at 5pm and listened for a good hour, the entire time Bob and Terry Ford were talking nothing but Ravens.. preseason, how/if their ready for regular season, airing joe flacco interview snippets talking about week 1 preparation, the harbs mouthing off situation, etc. Everything Ravens. Oh, and during the game they talked about Ravens. Still talking about Ravens right this second. lol.

OK for 2 hrs yesterday morning I didn't hear anything Ravens. They discussed the Brady ruling and local HS Football.

It is shocking how little play the Ravens get on local radio. Especially when compared to other markets where football and the local team is discussed routinely and in great detail

There used to be a weekly Ravens show on Saturday on 1090. Last I checked it has been replaced by a show about wine.

The vinnie and rob show on 105.7 is abysmal unless you enjoy two unfunny guys cackling over themselves. That station tends to talk only in a very general sense about the Ravens ...and almost as an afterthought.

Will someone on this board start a podcast? Please.

105.7 is the only constantly running sports channel but it is atrocious! Very little Ravens football and really loud and obnoxious hosts with little substance. Man, it is time for us fans to have a full time radio show dedicated to the Ravens! I miss it badly.

It is bad. From the lame morning show to the station's GM who knows nothing about Baltimore sports. He's a Pittsburgh guy.

i dont know what youre talking about. i dont have all day to listen, i get about 2 hours of listening per day, but i could tune in in december while the ravens are pushing their way into the playoffs, and they would be discussing orioles free agency strategies almost 100% of the time, maybe im at work when they decide to talk ravens, but they are so heavily favored for the orioles its ridiculous. vinnie and rob, jesus, let vinnie mention a player the orioles let go or overpaid, and rob will passionately rant about that one thing for 10 minutes, while taking 10 second intervals of silence in between each sentence

"you cant depend on so-and-so with .XXX batting average for this much money(10 second pause) ya just cant(10 second pause) ya cant do it vinnie, when im coaching my sons little league team we do blablabla(10 second pause) and even these kids wouldnt blablabla(10 second pause) ya just cant do it, and the orioles need to go after so and so to fix this etc. etc. (corny endorsement with vinnie obviously lying about personally using a product or service)"

the typical vinnie and rob conversation during football season.

LOL...this is ridiculously on point. I live in California now and still listen to the station because...well it's all I have now. But even when I moved around MD/VA I listened to it and this is SPOT ON!

Why would you listen today? I'm sure there's a lot of Tyrod talk.

Not much at all.  Mostly folks talking about lack of production from WRs.  But their talking points are horrible.

Who are you talking about by the station's GM? Dave Labrozzi, the Programming Director? What relevance does it have that he's from Pittsburgh. He doesn't come up with the material for the talent to talk about. They do that on their own.
