[News] Ravens Preseason Stock Watch

40 posts in this topic

Remember, that was the second and third team they were playing against. If anything, it means we are not very deep and the backups need valuable playing time to improve.

Was I the only one that was surprised to see Cooks(the Saints player that caught their first touchdown) still in the game? Last preseason there was a lot of hype around Cooks and I figured, part of the reason they were okay with trading Stills to the Dolphins is they figured Cooks would help pick up the load he left behind.

Butler definitely needs to string together a few good games if he wants to make the roster. Harbaugh clearly stressed how players need to not only perform well in practice but it needs to show up on the feild during game time. It was only 1 game , but IMO his similaritys w/ Aiken will make it more difficult for him to make the 53. He's been lights out in practice, but if it doesn't translate to games then that doesn't mean much. I'm also thrilled for campanaro. Him and Schaub really needed that for morale. I've always thought his spot was safe as long as he was healthy - and he just re-iterated why.

Pretty sure we will keep 6 Wrs.

I didn't get to watch the game, but I keep reading how Taliaferro made a clear case for the #2 spot, but it doesn't seem like Buck Allen was any worse and in fact had more explosive runs based on average or am I missing something

Campanaro is a very smart football player. He understands this offense and his role in it, and he knows how to react to what the defense gives him and be on the same page as his QB. He will be a great asset to this offense if he can get over the injury bug that's plagued him to this point in his career.

Jeremy Butler didn't impress me, and in the same way I often criticized Torrey Smith for screwing up his routes and not fighting for the ball leading to interceptions, I have to criticize him for Schaub's interception for the same reasons.

Maxx was awesome after he dropped that one pass. That was a bad play, but you have to love his response. He was more mad at himself for that drop than anyone, and he made good on redeeming himself for it. That 4th-and-20 play was amazing! This kid has a lot of heart and toughness. I think he will be a great player some day, hopefully not too long in development before he gets there.

Since the Saints did not have Brees we should consider that team could have the TD to actually win this game. The second team secondary gave Harb an ulcer.  Its OK  We have 3  more pre season games to sort things out.  Sure appreciated Carl Davis' work ethic. Good to see Camp and his amazing hands

I am severely concerned about our secondary, 1st thru 3rd on the depth chart. I cannot fathom watching another season of our db's in hot pursuit, trailing each and every receiver. They do not cover, they follow, and as for tackling, that's even worse. They square up 4-6 yards deep rather than come up for the tackle. Even Webb tackles shoulder high. While the team is solid in many respects, it is also very deficient in fundamental tackling and awareness.

It's easy to say go Ravens! We got this, etc. what really benefits this team is sound criticism that can be worked on. Our schedule this year is a tough as it's been in the Harbaugh era. Another new O.C., mixed with a semi-retired Smith and a pile of sophomore and rookie Wr's and TE's and a one year wonder in Forsett and things could get ugly real quick if we get too complacent.

I'm begging Pees to commit to getting the defense of the field sooner rather than the bend but don't break coverage we play every series. I'd like to see them Get more aggressive on D and force some things. What happened in NE, giving up (2) 14 point leads to dink and dunk offense needs to be addressed. Press coverage and better linebacker play is a must.

Oh never mind, go Ravens, I'm sure we'll make the playoffs and take our chances and see where that gets us right? Or we could actually make proactive changes in coaching philosophy and demand results from the respective position coaches and win home field advantage for only the 2nd time in team history.

You are right about secondary tackling and that had been my complaint about Elam. After 014 and witnessing Thursday, can we surmise it is the Pees system?

Maxx was Gronkified.

12 carries for 36= 3 yards per carry. How is this a positive

Because of the type of runner he is. He's a bruiser not an elusive speedster. He gets paid to lower his shoulder and grind out short yardage situations and he showed lots of improvement in that area.
