[News] Ravens Preseason Stock Watch

40 posts in this topic

I hope they can get something in return for Arthur Jones via a trade. Anything would be great, even a developmental guy. Tough to fathom being a 2nd round pick, and then you can't even stand out among the third teamers in a pre-season game during garbage time. He just must not fit our system well, or he was not very good and they totally missed on their evaluation of him. I know it happens. Painful.

Hey Downing, Mink and rest of Ravens beat be sure to keep Darren Wallers NAME Positively in your MOUTH!

He showed best in WR competition so far. Yes Camp got the 45 yrd TD, but credit Waller who carried double coverage overthe top with safety, to give Camp a wide open route. Secondly, he garnered 2-3 defensive holding and pass interference penalties on defenders just by being freak athlete 6'6 235lbr with speed, something Torrey and Jacoby did often. And he caught a pass or 2. So his true value was worth any other WR in that game when you add totality of penalties, garnering double coverage, catches etc.

"Williams had a notable miscue in the second quarter when he let a touchdown catch bounce off his hands on third down. Schaub hit Williams over the middle on the play, but the second-round pick couldn%u2019t haul in the completion."

This is not entirely true. Maxx got a hand on the ball, yes... but it was badly thrown behind him while he was in the air and reaching back to even make an attempt at it.

Man oh man! We looked Scary good! It's "Showtime!"That 1st drive was like watching a well oiled machine, and the defense was just as good. I'm going to love this season. Bring on the "Purple Pain"!

I am severely concerned about our secondary, 1st thru 3rd on the depth chart. I cannot fathom watching another season of our db's in hot pursuit, trailing each and every receiver. They do not cover, they follow, and as for tackling, that's even worse. They square up 4-6 yards deep rather than come up for the tackle. Even Webb tackles shoulder high. While the team is solid in many respects, it is also very deficient in fundamental tackling and awareness.

It's easy to say go Ravens! We got this, etc. what really benefits this team is sound criticism that can be worked on. Our schedule this year is a tough as it's been in the Harbaugh era. Another new O.C., mixed with a semi-retired Smith and a pile of sophomore and rookie Wr's and TE's and a one year wonder in Forsett and things could get ugly real quick if we get too complacent.

I'm begging Pees to commit to getting the defense of the field sooner rather than the bend but don't break coverage we play every series. I'd like to see them Get more aggressive on D and force some things. What happened in NE, giving up (2) 14 point leads to dink and dunk offense needs to be addressed. Press coverage and better linebacker play is a must.

Oh never mind, go Ravens, I'm sure we'll make the playoffs and take our chances and see where that gets us right? Or we could actually make proactive changes in coaching philosophy and demand results from the respective position coaches and win home field advantage for only the 2nd time in team history.

This team could win 11 to 12 games this year. With Ozzie and staff we have tremendous depth throughout the team. This was a great start.

Arthur Brown will be fine this season, he looked good slicing through the O-line and stopping the back for loss. Finishing with 5.5 tackles.
Arrington looked good. Would like to see Terrence Brooks and Kendrick Lewis play.

Guy will be leaned upon heavily this year.
KLM didnt shine like i would have liked but Carl Davis showed well in his first game action.
Backups on Ravens O-line were pancaking people, even Jah Ried on one or two plays owning people.

The Sky is high for the Ravens. This team is on the way of greatness. They only way this team will be stop to become Super Bowl Champions is that either mistakes or injures that's it. I'm really confident this team will be champions I'm 90% sure. If they continue what they always do they will become champions.

I understand where your coming from but you do realise when we played the Patriots last we had our 4th and 5th string corners playing right? I for one am very exited for this year, Steve Smith is even more dangerous being "semi retired" he is a great player and behind Forsett we have great depth too. You might say the Ravens tattoo on my left forearm has my opinion a little bias or the fact that I bleed Purple but we have a special team this year and even with our schedule being the hardest its been I'm not concerned one bit. If you remember a Raven was spotted at the Levi stadium where the SuperBowl is hosted this year and flew off when the color changing scoreboard hit Purple. It's our destiny to win the SuperBowl this year.

It has to be Arthur Browns attitude cause he looked very aggressive on the field to me. I think Harbaugh just doesn't like him.

Waller had his moments as well... for a guy whose only been playing the position for two years..(was recruited as a safety out of high school) showed strong hands...

Arthur Brown deserves some more chances before he is written off. The few plays he was active he did quite well I thought...

I dont think its Arthur's attitude. Ive heard hes as humble as can be off the field. Constantly reads his bible, constantly in the film room and never goes out. I heard hes a real hard worker. Theres gotta be something else we dont see in practice. He played good last night vs the third string offense but did have that one miscue. I want to see AB play with Mosley and our first string defense to fairly gauge him.

Its going to be very rare that we see our whole second and third string secondary on the field at the same time. There was no jimmy smith, no Lardarius Webb. Pointer played well with out other starters. It was the first pre season game so relax. We have alot of time left for our secondary to mesh. Im excited about Pointer and Melvin supporting Jimmy and Lardarius. Edited by edreed2o

Tyrod seems to be getting the starting gig in Buffalo. We have a solid starter in Schaub, this turned out well for both sides. Happy for Tyrod.

2nd pre-season game will say a lot more about the team, as the starters will get more reps, and the backups will be tested, especially on the D-Side of the ball having to play against Chips quick strike offense...I would like to see Brandon, Jernigan and Davis on the field against the Eagles ones, and then i want to see Arthur Brown play alongside Orr when the 2nd team plays....If the Ravens really want to give Arthur a fair shot, he has to play against the ones and two's...

I really hoped we'd pick up boykins from the Eagles via trade block. I got negged by many here which didn't surprise me at all. Then the steelers robbed the Eagles giving up only a 5th rounder in return for his services. PFF rated him 19th best corner last season and his contract is peanuts for this upcoming year.

I really hope we got it right with Arrington as i still don't understand why we wouldn't bring them both in and fight with webb for 2,3,and 4 spots as cornerbacks. We would have also been prepared for he worst injury crisis. You can never have enough pass rushers and cornerbacks! I hope Ozzie doesn't let another opportunity like that fly by us. Steelers picking Boykin up made it even more bitter. We have 7.5 mil in cap space and can easily free up more if needed.

Tomlin was running up and down the sidelines in their first preseason game yelling I got it right every time he made a play.

Who impressed? Carl Davis -- he's a draft steal just like Jernigan. Camp -- unless he gets hurt, he makes the team cause he makes plays. TEs all looked good, as did LT and Allen. And we need to see more of Waller. He just scares opposing DBs. Who didn't impress? KLM. Didn't even know he was playing. And the second string secondary looked terrible. Who gives up a 3-play 90-yard TD drive with less than 2 minutes to go to a rookie third-string QB?

I still have concerns with the defensive secondary. Saints really didn't start passing the ball until they were down 2 possessions. The line appeared to get some pressure on the QB but he was still able to pass for big chunks of real estate down field that put them back in the game. The Ravens have always been weak on the corners. The offense looks impressive. I particularly liked how the QBs always found the wide open man down field mostly in the middle of the field - either a TE or a receiver running kind of a 8 (post) or the 2 (slant) route. The offensive line opened up some impressive holes for the rush. Not a lot of penalties... good discipline .Too bad, so sad Brynden. TAUNTING in a pre-season game? Harbaugh has cut players with such attitudes for doing much less. The refs called a pretty good game albeit, I think that missed intentional grounding call was a mistake.

I wouldn't be too concerned. We started our backups on the corners, Webb and Smith didn't even see the field, Arrington and Quinton Pointer started and they shut down the Saints first team (minus Brees) for two three and outs. It was actually when we brought in our third string corners, second string safeties and linebackers is when we had problems. McLellan isn't a coverage LB and I would have much preferred seeing Orr and A Brown out there. The Saints abused McClellan and our safeties down the middle of the field.

Remember, that was the second and third team they were playing against. If anything, it means we are not very deep and the backups need valuable playing time to improve.
