This one is going to run against the grain of how one should generally evaluate a player. Generally, one takes the whole picture in factoring the play of that player, but for this study we have to evaluate how a player's absence affects the outcome.

Our linebacking corps is essentially the same, though one could project it improving for a number of reasons.  Our safety position is at worst the same as last year, at best a little better.  Our cornerback position begins significantly better than the end of last year, when we were alarmingly undermanned.

We have several reasons to believe that our defensive play should be somewhat stronger in all the areas other than the defensive line which is the study group due to the change in circumstances. Thus the overall play of that defensive line will be best factored in terms of statistics. Yards Rushed Against, Sacks of the QB, Interceptions, (Which are often caused by QB pressure).

So the bottom line is that we really don't have to argue about it, because the results will speak for themselves.  My belief is that we will give up more rushing yards per game.  That is the key stat.  We almost have to get more interceptions, but if we don't that will become a measuring stick as well.

What's this talk about how badly we will miss ngata? Guys, Timmy Jernigan is going to be a perennial pro bowler if he stays healthy, Brandon Williams may be the best pure NT in the league, we unload ngatas huge contract and replace him with cheaper options who are actually superior players at this point in their respective careers. Come on now, these aren't just journeyman players and unknowns were fielding, were replacing ngata with a STUD in Jernigan and we have a STUD at NT with Williams, there isn't much to worry abut unless we get the injury bug

Yea, Ngata was nothing like how he use to be and I feel more than confident with Williams, Jerrigan, and Co. The primary job of your d-lineman in the 3-4 is to stop the run and eat up blockers to allow your LBs to roam freely, sacks are a plus.

The Eagles are a talented and well coached team. It'll be interesting how our rookies and younger udfas' fare against them. I also believe the joint practices will let them sharpen their skills against another group. Looking forward to the game...

There better not be any stupid injuries or suspensions because of fights this week. Both teams are proud and loud, so some scraps are inevitable. I just hope it doesn't get out of hand and/or spill over into the game itself.

Honestly, if Perriman was good to practice vs the Eagles, I would make him stay at The Castle and get more recovery in. At this point, no need risking him in Philly.

agreed, like some of us mentioned last week, playing him before he is ready would be a huge risk for the sake of appeasing fans. id like to see him play, but the excitement of seeing our first round pick play a week sooner would not be as big as the heartbreak of hearing him end up on IR because he jacked his knee up in philly

Would love to see if Flacco can really make Waller a threat with Perrimen out and Brown being eased back. The TC battle with him and Butler for the 6th spot is gonna be good just want to see more of each in the next few games since we already know what SSS will bring to the table and Perrimen not being back probably until week 3.

No disrespect but I dont think we factor into the decision in the slightest bit what so ever.

oh i know i was just pointing out that if we hoot and holler for perriman to play, than that is essentially what we'd be doing, asking to risk further injury just to appease us. not saying it plays a part in their decision at all lol

I'm looking forward to this game. Philly has a quick paced unique offense that will test and challenge our unit. I don't believe their defense is as good as it looked versus the Colts last week. We'll see though. I need us to look good as one of my really good friends is a die hard Eagles fan and talks the most trash. even though it doesn't mean anything but bragging rights amongst each other I still want the win. I don't understand why Eagles fans are so boastful and arrogant when they haven't won a championship since the NFL started having teams wear facemasks.

One of my closest friends is also an Eagles fan but he's very humble.  He says it's hard to talk trash when his team has never won a superbowl.  That said, another of our close friends is a Redskins fan and those two definitely go at it at times

The Eagles are one of the oldest NFL teams and they have a lot of culture with a deep history , who cares about superbowls in terms of fandom??

Yeah there are people who are fans of teams based on Super Bowls. They are called Bandwagoners

You may be using PFF as your source. We have a stat discrepancy for Williams. .5 sacks, Zero passes defensed. But I'll be the first to acknowledge stats are not the tool one uses to determine value.

I like Brandon Williams, Brandon Williams is a friend of mine, but Brandon Williams is no Haloti Ngata.

Let's see where we are in rush yards allowed, because B.W. is never going to be a pass rush threat. I think we are going to give up more yards rushing this year than last. If we are better against the run or Williams gets 5 sacks, I'll eat my crow.

In Williams defense, I think that number was going up this year anyway, considering were playing a rougher schedule, with teams that run the ball better. With or without Ngata, our run d was going to be tested. What we lose in run defense, we gain in pass rush ability. Jernigan's presence will be felt when we need to pressure the interior.

I get that but you can have team pride without the sense of arrogance. I can tolerate more bravado if your team has won before or have been dominant over a long period of time. I don't mean you can't be a proud fan of any team just don't be obnoxious especially if your team hasn't or doesn't win.

Just watched Harbaugh's Philly presser, the guy definitely stays in shape and it sounded like he hit the weights at the Eagles facility.

Out of curiosity and 'nerdiness', does anyone have an idea about his strength numbers (squat, deadlift, bench)?

It's probably close to what Brandon Williams lifts. I mean those weights + Harbaugh.

Glad all the Bandwagon fans from 2013 of the Ravens are gone, made us real fans look bad.

Really interested to see more of our WR corps. That's going to be our make or break position. I feel more than confident with the rest of the offense and if the secondary can avoid injuries, defense should be rocking and rolling. Hopefully Camp, Aiken, and Waller can keep up the good work and Perriman can get healthy. I have a feeling the writing may be on the wall for Marlon.

Injuries on the O-line are beginning to worry me a little bit. Joe might not play a lot tonight, if he can't get adequate protection. This in turn would minimize the evaluation of the WR corp, if it's mostly Schaub and Renner throwing.

We need a deep threat...now.

True.I never really felt too comfortable with this receiving corps even with Perriman
