Impressed by Renner, Carl Davis, Tray Walker , Taliferro ,  and Z- Smith

Buck Allen looked bad and so did the majority of the safety group.

Quite a few mixed bags. Namely Schuab and Pointer

Still a lot of work to be done of course, but the 1st team performances were impressive.

This week of practice should be all about setting the edge for the 2nd team.  Brennen Beyer was the only one that really seemed to understand that concept.

I would call Allen a mixed bag. He had his moments. At least be fair to the guy. Lol.

Jensen and Reid looked impressive for backups. Art Brown and Zach Orr had their moments. But most of all, Carl Davis is a monster.

Yeah "bad" is unnecessary. He wasn't great but he certainly wasn't bad either.

Impressed that Renner was able to come back from that INT to win the game.

Missed some throws and some poor decisions but tough to get an accurate gauge on him with how poor the line was protecting him.

Oh and Carl Davis looks like he could be an absolute beast. Williams, Jernigan and Davis could make a great dline for years to come.

And the effort by Maxx on that 4th down was amazing. Great stuff.

The 1st team offense and defense looked awesome. Couldn't have done any better really.

thought schaub looked great, nick boyle pretty good.

in his limited action Arthur Brown looked good.

bad: basically the entire back up secondary

+ buck allen, didn't see anything that made me go o wow.... i recall seeing way more in past years out of RBs fighting for that 3rd spot, anothony allen, damien berry, bobby rainey...

Carl Davis was my player of the game. Also Maxx Williams is 2strong. The 2nd and 3rd unit defenses need a lot of work overall.

Davis was making offensive lineman look like little kids. Just blew them back 5 yards routinely.

I forgot Boyle, Boyle looked Fantastic. He caught everything , I remember one pass you could HEAR him snag it out the air. He laid a nasty block too.

Carl Davis, first and foremost.  Camp...nice.  Good to see Brown flash some of that speed getting into the backfield on that one play.  I didn't see a lot of pressure from Zadarius.  I think he was unblocked on what would have been a sack except for the illegal formation.  I think Carter has a chance given ST contributions, although his only fielded kick - ugh.  Oh yeah, and Max did what we thought he could do.  He just looks like he needs a little more work in the weightroom.

Oh yeah, Boyle did a great job, along with Renner.  Bad on the pick but showed tremendous fight all the way back.

Not that he had much of a shot at the roster, but TE Allen Reisner fractured his leg/ankle tonight.  Feel bad for the guy even if he is an unknown.

Maxx Williams was a mixed bag. He made one big play, and he guy definitely runs with some power. However, he looked slower than Gilmore out there. Even on his big play he seemed kinda slow. So far, Boyle seems to be the better of the two rookie tight ends.

I'm kinda disappointed in Butler, thought he'd do a little better tonight

Ya butler had a really bad game with the drop and basically causing the INT.

my players of the game: lawrence guy, zach orr, eugene mornoe (although didnt play that much), taliaferro looked like a starting nfl running back, jah and ryan did some pretty good work especially jah, zadarius art and nick perry had a few good plays, and carl davis looked really impressive working next to lawrence... Players that dissapointed: klm-looked at times god awful, anthony levine and the backup secondary, buck didnt do that well but i doubt neither other rb's would against the second string line compared to the first, darren people will hang on to but couldnt even execute catching the screen pass (if people watched the combine, they would know he was the worst reciever invited) 63 on the o-line didnt look that good (i think clausell is his last name)... overall i like trestmans offense. Its clear that the fullback will be used judging by tonight... i like lining some tight ends out wide... first team looked great... WE have the best strating o-line in the nfl... would really like to see robert myers and urschel who had an excellent game against new england against vince wilfork last year... ricky stumbled out of the gate but finished the drive off strong... overall we look really good,,, would love to see the players who were inactive tonight get a go at it to see how we would look like at full strength... P.S. brennan bryer i thought looked pretty decent tonight.. i think he should definatly at least make the 75 cut

Buck Allen did not look bad. I mean he didn't exactly set the world on fire but he had a very solid outing for his first NFL game.

Taliaferro: 12 carries, 36 yds, 1TD

Allen: 11 carries, 35 yds, 0TD

Not bad when you consider most his reps were with the 2's against the Saints starting DL. When he had a lane he did a good job of attacking and getting up field. Allen is like Forsett in the sense that he isn't going to create something out of nothing but if you gave him a hole to hit he can get up field and do some damage, he can also pass protect well, and catch the ball out of the back field well but he didn't get to show case that tonight.

I thought Waller did well. He was getting separation consistently He also drew 3 penalties which means he was getting the best of the DBs on him. The screen pass seems to be a combination of Schaub throwing a bad ball and Waller not running the route properly. Regardless, he showed better than Butler.

Nick Easton running with the 3's held his own on a pretty terrible group. Made some good decisions switching blocks.

Jah Reid did impress me with the 2's. Like most people here, I'm not a big fan of his but he played well this game at RT, maybe he'll get his stuff together and realize his potential.

Asa looked good fielding punts...up until he got injured again. But seriously he looks dangerous fielding punts.

LT has stepped up pretty well.

Butler did fine. The pick was more Schaub's fault than his, it was poorly thrown. Had he made that catch falling backwards early in the game we would be saying great things about him.

1st team D looked fantastic the 2 drives they were out there, granted it was against McCown it was still very good.

Arthur Brown was a mixed bag, made a couple good plays but also missed a few. Orr is in the same boat.

Trawick did very badly in my opinion. That taunting penalty really made me mad, so unnecessary. Hope Perry gets more snaps next game.

Rookies:

Williams did fantastic, that 4th and 20 was supremely impressive.

Carl Davis did great, absolutely manhandled whoever they put in front of him. Very disruptive.

Z Smith was a mixed bad, struggled mightily early but as the game went on he did better culminating in the sack

Allen did good, like Z. Smith he didn't do well early but did better after a couple snaps he did better.

Walker was impressive, wasn't expecting him to shine like he did. Doesn't shy away from contact and i odon't remember him making any bonehead plays.

Boyle made some good catches, very strong hands. Wish he would get more after the catch but can't complain about his performance.

Waller made a nice contested catch early, then did a good job drawing contact. Nothing overly impressive but i can't complain about his day.

Not many TE's come into the league and play "fast" right out of the gate. You could say the same thing about Gronk his rookie year, many people felt Hernandez was the better TE because he was faster. It's a feeling out process and there is a lot more to account for than people realize when you aren't yet comfortable in an NFL game. When you're thinking about where you line up in each formation, what the snap count is, what's your route, how is the defense lined up, what coverage are they in.. it's a lot to process at first.

Then you also consider Maxx is very young, he didn't play in a pro style offense in college, this is his first time in an offense this complex. He's never going to run like Vernon Davis but give him time and he will find his "game speed".

I was proud of my boy Renner tonight~ that was a lot of pressure for a rookie QB and he stood tall. Go get 'em Bryn!
