[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Saints

No worries about the injured guys not playing. It's just the first preseason game, no reason to rush anyone back to make their injuries worse. We all would like to see Perriman suit up just to see him out there but I'd rather he sit this one out just in case.

injuries are part of training camp every team has them we should be thankful its two backups not arian foster or sheldon richardson being out for a large chunk of the season. And on the practicing too hard note, its a risk reward type deal. Our practices are the reason we have a lot of guys get injured in training camp... we work harder and longer than most other teams. Those same grueling practices are the reason that we dominate in pressure situations (playoffs) because our guys deal with the pressures of a John Harbaugh camp before they even suit up for a game

Is the defensive line going to be this years secondary? While it appeared we were deep enough to absorb the loss of Ngata, here we go again with the injuries. Ozzie said we would never be caught again like we were caught last year with the secondary but yet here we go with the defensive line collapsing like a house of cards in a typhoon. I know training camp is to weed out and deal with injuries, but one more hard practice like we had last Thursday and we may not have 11 people left to put out on the field in both directions. I know we need to get these guys ready to hit before the first preseason game and I am not qualified to second guess Harbaugh but (and there is always a but) we cant afford to do that.

I really want to see Perriman play and see him do what we hear he can do. But if he doesn't, hopefully gets back soon. Can't wait to see us play! We have all waited a long off-season and I can finally taste football again. Can't wait!!!

Guys can get hurt slipping on a sidewalk (Bryant McKinnie anyone?).  I'd rather weed out the guys who can't stay healthy now, with hard practices, than get caught with our pants down during the regular season.  Remember, no practice is ever going to be as hard as the real games, and other teams are going to cut good players, just like the Ravens are going to cut good wide receivers.  I believe you have a much better chance of back-filling a need with a quality player prior to the regular season than you do once all the rosters are set.  Sure you can pick a guy off of someone's practice squad, but I'm referring to just after the final wave of cuts when teams will swap out guys for their final active rosters last-minute, based on who they think best fit their needs.

I can't wait to see the rookies tonight, but since we're thin at DE and Terrell Suggs is close to retirement I would like for us to try out Aldon Smith

1. That would be a PR nightmare.

2. He's likely banned for the year.

3. He's an idiot.

Besides being present and former Ravens greats what do these guys have in common: Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Derrick Mason, Haloti Ngata, Kelly Gregg, Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, Marshall Yanda, Jarrett Johnson... They almost never had hokey-pokey injuries during camp. Even Ed Reed and J.O. had their nerve impingement and turf toe problems respectively late in their careers prior to which they were durable and dependable during camp. The takeaway is the great players rarely have these nagging injuries.

Look up his history before making such recommendations.  He's been involved in enough off-field mischief the past few years to give the lawyers defending him lifetime pensions.
