[News] Steve Smith Tells Ravens This Will Be His Final Season

I would.  I don't have any doubts.  He owes this game nothing.  And by the galleries of photos, it's very apparent how much he loves being with his family.  I think after 16 years of football, and a growing family, he's ready.

Yep...he is serious. I hope he scores the winning TD in Super Bowl 50. What a way to go...

Its was a great move bringing in Steve because I'm not too sure about this next generation work habits. Hopefully the younger players learned and will remember.

Stop me if you have heard this "retirement" song before. Athletes "retire" and unretire all the time. I like Steve Smith a lot. He is a stand up guy so maybe this will be his last season. I just wouldn't bet my paycheck on it just yet.

does happen a lot ; but Steve smith is not jay-z. He is genuine and a man of his word . And like mom said- I can tell he really wants to spend more time with his family.

However! If something off the wall happens or if somebody pisses Steve off- I would not put it past him to change his mind to prove somebody wrong or to make a statement. Such as an injury or a fight that results in a suspension or something...he's going to go out on his terms. But as of now he has every intention of retiring and I don't think that's even a question.

Hey a Jay-z comment :o. I have a genuine distaste of him and Beyonce now. Two very very ignorant people with power. Another way Steve Smith is different from him. Steve Smith is a pretty intellectual guy, I always come away more impressed by him the more I listen to him. Guy really wants to be with his family and doesn't want to be a burden. I mean its also about what he's going to be like as a grandparent. He wants to be healthy for his family and I applaud him for that. It is hard to leave healthy. It's the same reason Ray Lewis retired. Maybe its part of the Harbaugh culture. Whatever it is, I am a big Steve Smith fan and I will be looking for him to make into the Hall one day. Not just the player but the man that made the player. He deserves a ring.
