[News] Late For Work 8/10: Ravens Impromptu Locker Room Dance Party

36 posts in this topic

That was a lovely dance by the defense :D I see Sizzle is back to his good old self! Pitta and the R-word in one sentence are scary, but not all that surprising. It's hard to imagine him being in form to play a contact sport with an injury which tends to be recurrent after the first time...

Right now, it's not known the extent of Kendrick Lewis' leg injury. Having Kendrick Lewis hurt really bothers me.  Many people were saying that Elam's loss wasn't significant . If Lewis' injury turns out to be an issue, this is exactly why losing Elam was significant.

Elam is SS and was behind  Will Hill... Lewis is a FS and Anthony Levine  is his back up followed by Nick Perry

I remember the negs I got when I said it seems Harbaugh is doing the same thing with Perriman's injury he did with some other players: he starts by saying it's basically nothing, "he could play tomorrow if he needed to', then switching to "it's a minor thing, day-to-day, we're just playing it safe", then to "it's a small bruise, maybe a couple of days", then "a strain or a bruise thing" - finally what was originally labeled "nothing" makes the player miss a complete week, then two... And so far it seems like this "nothing" is costing Perriman his projected starting role...

I just don't like it that when hearing Harbaugh call an injury "nothing" I automatically think it IS something - and something that will make the player miss much more than we're being led to think.

Elam has played both SS and FS since he's been with us.

Yep, he was the FS in his rookie season (with Ihedigbo manning the SS) and swithched to SS the next season with Darian Stewart being the FS.

That's why losing Elam was a big blow.  Losing a guy with starting experience at both positions is huge.

The video about Aiken is just more proof that Harbaugh is running this operation the right way. Aiken said that the Ravens were the first team that really allowed him to improve and be more than just a body for practice. I think Aiken is in line to become a long term starter for this team when Sr retires, but I expect a solid year regardless.

I agree but it's not just coach Harbaugh. Ozzie and Erik remember who was on their draftboard in the past and which players they wanted but couldn't get. So they watch for who is being let go by other teams and bring them in for a tryout. Sometimes they strike gold.

You guys forget its preseason... yes practice is extremely important... but the knee..hip.. back... aren't areas of the body that you generally take risks on.. see what happened to K.O when he tried to push through his back injury which led to him missing most of the 2013 season... so you don't want to push and injury when you don't have to.. if it was a playoff game..or Super bowl I think he would practice and play.. he's participating in position meeting and walk through so that's a positive sign...

Urban's injury still looms large in my head. Can't get over the kid's bad luck with injuries. He was at the cusp of breaking out and was amongst the guys I wanted to see this year. Same think with Kapron Lewis Moore. I have a feeling he'll make his presence felt this year!

Suggs is a nut. They had alot of personalities on that Super Bowl team, lol. Its a shame Harbaugh seems to have a problem with those types. Who will be the one to keep the team lose when Suggs retires?

If the injury to Perriman is a knee strain, the course of action is to pretty much do nothing with/on the strained area for an extended period of time to let the strain heal itself. Once healed you can then resume activities. If you come back too soon you risk straining the area again or even doing worse damage. I am not a medical doctor, but I am speaking from experience after suffering a back strain and a grade 2 quad strain. I never knew strains could bruise, but that quad strain I got looked really nasty. It took a couple of months for that to heal, but I am no pro athlete and I don't have access to superior sports medicine. I'd rather them just take the time he needs to heal, there is no need to rush him. Yeah you'd like to get him out there for practice reps but what is more important long term?

As for Harbaugh not liking personalities, I am not really sure where anyone is getting that. I think the only issue he would have is if this person was taking a leadership role that was somehow infringing on his leadership. This is what happened to Billick. Eventually the team took over. The personalities got too cliquey and it served to separate the team rather than unify it.

I can't wait for Thursday. I want to see some of these Ravens that are fighting for roster spots show what they've got. I also want to see Matt Schaub in a non-practice situation. I want to see if bigger is better for Crockett Gilmore and also get a look at Maxx Williams, Buck Allen, Waller, and the new additions to our secondary. I want to actually see Lewis-Moore in some game time and scope out Zadarius Smith, Steven Means, and see what Christo Bilukidi can do to make this roster. The rotation we can put on the front line should be pretty impressive this year.

Crockett Gilmore is at the top of my watch list for a "breakout" season. I am glad to hear his confidence clearly come through in interviews. Can't wait to see what he can do in a starting role. Huge potential.

Kendrick Lewis's injury is the one I am thinking about. I just don't want a recurrence of last year when it comes to our Secondary.

This cannot be a repeat of last year, but instead of multiple injuries in the secondary we have multiple injuries at multiple positions, this team is sb bound and injuries cannot keep holding this team back.

Looking at all these injuries seems to me that somebody does not know how to run a practices. These season is starting to look just like last year. No Secondary.

I'm one of the folks who hope Dennis Pitta will take his SB ring and go out feeling he has been a solid contributor to the Ravens since "Day-One" rather than carried off on a cart being our lasting memory!

Jamison Hensley Tweeted: "#Ravens DT Timmy Jernigan missed practice with foot. CB Lardarius Webb left practice with hamstring tweak."

What is Webb made out of glass?!

Alright, I'm most likely overreacting and it's just a precautionary thing, but still! Webb couldn't stay healthy if he was in a padded room in a loony bin.

Knowing his history, this little tweak will keep him out for days at least. I guess his nickname of Webby is justified, he's just as fragile as a spider web.

Players like Suggs that "keep the team loose" has never been the problem. It's the players that keep the team divided that any self respecting coach, and his staff would have a problem with.

Players are getting injured all around the league. This isn't specific to the ravens. However really would like to get perriman out there Thursday night. He needs those in game experiences. Kendrick's injury isn't supposed to be anything serious. Hopefully it's not one of them ones that linger around all season. If it turns out to be more serious than harbaugh is letting on I would start to worry a bit - esp with Elam going down as well.

Another note: diggs looked pretty awesome the other night in the hall of fame game. Given he was playin against a bunch of backups and what not. I really wanted us to pick him up in the 4th. Could've been our definitive punt returner.

Asa Jackson had one return for 6 called back for an insignificant holding penatly two pre-seasons ago...

Yep, he was also suspended two years in a row for failing to submit his adderall paperwork on time and ever since then he's been spending quite a bit of time in the tub as well. Other than that when he's on the field Asa is a pretty good little player don't you think? Will Diggs have either of these problems???
