Jeremy Butler

So there is a lot of talk going on about Butler, but I don't see a thread devoted to him, unlike with players such as Melvin/etc. I believe he is lighting it up enough to have his own thread, but if mods wish to merge this, then that's perfectly fine.

Butler seems like he will be a star one day. Not the quickest guy in the world, but speed isn't the end all, be all in the NFL. His routes are crisp, and he catches pretty much everything in sight. Why not use this guy in the slot? He has the perfect size/attributes needed to be a star in the slot. What do you see his potential as being, and what player does he compare to? To me, his story seems to be similar to Tucker, just a year later (not breaking out in his rookie season due to injury). He was undrafted, but he has potential to light it up with enough snaps/targets.

So far, I actually love what I am hearing about Butler. He is one of the guys I really can't wait to see in the preseason games.

I hope he'll become a stud, we need all the fire power we can get now that Smitty is retired next year.

Can't wait to follow the preseason, and watch our depth/bench display their talents.

I need to see better in game stats before I join the hype train. I hope for someone to seriously step up. If I had to look at three WR's that will play a lot depending on health. I look at SSS, Perriman, and Camp. With Aiken at 4th and Waller the 5th. Butler has to do a lot or have Camp or Perriman get hurt in order to make the team or this WR group. I think Brown is the odd man out in that he's banged up and may have been a one hit wonder with his first year ala Clarence Moore.

I'm pretty sure Butler is 6'2 (I'm 6'2 myself so I notice everyone else who is as well hah) and I recall an interview or article where Campanaro mentioned that he had gained an inch in the last year or so. Maybe because of yoga - either way that would put him at 5'10.

I think Camp could sneak up to the #3 WR health permitting, assuming Perriman returns and becomes the #2. He showed a knack for getting open last year imo.

Like others have mentioned, Butler needs to perform on the field in regular season before we can crown him anything else than a camp wonder (if that's even a thing).

if this yoga thing is effective, and he can stay on the field and stay healthy, then i think camp becomes a fixture on this offense for years to come. once steve smith leaves, we will need a chain mover, a guy who gets open as well as anyone when we need it, campanaro looks like hes just stellar at that. once smitty leaves i think campanaro becomes #2 in terms of volume but #3 in terms of role, while perriman is the #1 and hopefully the future #2 is already on the team, i doubt its butler though.
