[News] News And Notes 8/7: 20 Players Sit, DeAndre Carter Takes Advantage

No injuries cuz there is hardly anyone else to get hurt LOL but in all seriousness Matt Schaub throwing a pick 6 we can file that under the redundancy category. Harbs is defending this guy but if he has to play in games i dont feel at all confident that he can win us a game unless he hands off 20 times to Forsett 20 times for Buck Allen and 15 to Taliafero

I Really hope they show the preseason games where I am. I've never been so excited to see the younger player on the roster compete for a job

The NFL Network re-airs all of the preseason games. It might be at 2:00 AM, though.

I'm really excited about what Arrington brings to the defense.

Agreed, we really needed another decent experienced CB on the team and I was extremely happy when Ozzie brought him to the team.

Arrington is gonna be the best 3rd CB we have had in a long time. Him and Webby both play well in the slot, so we could very well have a top 3 secondary this year.

Well, first of all, this is training camp and this doesn't amount to much with ints. because like in the NFL.com article that Aaron Rodgers says that tracking ints from Training Camp is one of the most frivolous plots this time of year. Take, for instance, Aaron Rodgers, the best quarterback in the NFL. The Packers' signal-caller throws contested balls more often in practice to see what kind of play his receivers can make on the ball. It might result in a turnover, but it also provides him valuable information to use on Sundays. Yeah, you don't want a QB making those throws, but lets at least wait for preseason games to see how he does then we will know.

Hard to imagine schuab was almost in the top tier of qbs at one point.

It wasn't as much about Schaub as the Kubiak-André Johnson-Foster trio... That "supporting cast" would even make Tim Tebow look like a legit QB :)

urban is on IR. sad

Has that been confirmed? I have seen several news outlets report that he could be done for the season. But someone said it's a 12 week injury. Why not put him on the PUP list. He would have about 15 weeks to recover before the team would have to make a decision.

KLM and Davis need to step up and play well this year. If they do we won't miss Urban. We will have Jernigan, Canty, Williams, Tyson and Guy as well as KLM and Davis. Still strong and deep on the DL.

But it is worth noting that the Texans eventually benched him and his replacement produced better in that same offense, the Texans didn't bring Schaub back, and Schaub couldn't even win the 2nd string job for the Raiders. So while camp picks don't mean much, pre season picks won't mean a lot either because he won't be playing against starters and he won't be using real game day offense. Teams dumb down their offensive and defensive schemes in the pre season so they don't give anything away. Pretty much all I am hearing are excuses for the guy. He was a turnover machine in Houston...and with as terrible as Oakland was he couldn't win the starting or back up job. Think about that. All that being said, he's a Raven and if he plays I will be cheering him on and hoping for the best, but I won't be expecting different results from him. Let's just hope for another super healthy season for Flacco and then Matt Schaub won't matter.

PUP can only be used for players injured at the start of camp. Once they practice, even for one play, it is no longer an option.

I was kind of hoping the deadline was the start of the preseason, but part of me knew it was too late. Originally I was going to ask, but I was going out and I wanted to post the comment before I forgot.

I agree and you bring up good points. I just think that Schaubs problem was confidence and if he can gain that back he can get back into form. But like you said, Lets hope Flacco doesn't get hurt and we don't have to find out whether Schaub is good enough. GO Ravens!!!
