[News] Late For Work 8/7: Why Ravens Are Envy Of So Many NFL Teams

Pollard that ship has sailed. I loved you as a Raven but there's someone that brings the intangible you brought to the team (outspoken toughness) and his name is Steve Smith-- he just does it without showing up the coach or challenging the head honcho's authority. It was nice though.

I don't know about anyone else, but my recollections of Pollard were personal foul penalty after personal foul penalty, taunting a Colts assistant from the playing field, not showing up for the ring ceremony and dissing Harbaugh then continuing that dissing long into his tenure with the Titans, starting a mutiny because he didn't want to practice in pads (though the team was sucking), a stupid dance on "Hard Knocks" and one good hit on Patriots running back, Ridley. With the baggage he carries, unless he was the last best safety on planet earth, I wouldn't sign him.

I read this: A whopping 17 of 22 starters of that Super Bowl XLVII-winning team are gone.

That means of the 90 men on the roster today, only five starters lifted the Lombardi trophy two-and-half years ago:  Flacco, guards Marshal Yandaicon-article-link.gif and Kelechi Osemeleicon-article-link.gif and linebackersTerrell Suggsicon-article-link.gif and Courtney Upshawicon-article-link.gif.

What about Jimmy Smith?  Also, Webb was a starter that year and now, just not in that game.

J. Smith was on the team and played in the Super Bowl but he wasn't a starter.

You never know what the future holds. There may come a time when you want to cross back over a bridge you chose to burn. Beyond all other considerations, a less than amicable exit may have torched that bridge and decreased the likelihood of Pollards's possible return. It's too bad because I really liked the fire he brought to the defense (minus the penalties).

I thought smith and Williams started, with graham playing slot? Who started over smith? I can't remember for the life of me

Lol at that video of Urschel. I'm really happy he's on our team... If we lose KO to free agency at the end of this season (as many people think we will,) I feel confident that Urschel can step in and start.

Unfortunately, Pollard burned that bridge when he said the things he said when he was let go. He should've already had that call with Ozzie and John long ago. next story please

A Redskin fan recently told me that he wished the Redskins and Ravens could trade jerseys for just half the season so their team can get over 500 mark, he added that the Ravens could still make the playoffs if the Skins get lucky and win a couple lol.

When you see other teams, you appreciate more what the Ravens have! GO RAVENS!

John Urschel has a pretty good comedic sense for a mathematician/football player! That skit was hilarious!

Pollard thanks but no thanks! We love you but don't need you.

The Redskin fans that I know are so die-hard loyal!  Every year they say, "This is our year."  And every year, by week six, they're saying, "Next year's our year!"  I feel bad for them; but considering how many of them are former Colts fans who jumped ship in the 80s, I don't feel too bad for them.  ;)  Still, a Ravens/Redskins Superbowl would be a lot of fun, especially before PC Police make them change their name.

Graham and Williams started on the outside. Technically the 3rd DB isn't listed as a starter.

True, but they're talking about starters at the Super Bowl, not the season.

So do special teams players count as starters? If so Koch and Tucker should be on that list.

Edit: Pitta was a starter as well.

SIGN Pollard NOW . please

While I don't think that Pollard has burned any bridges, I'm not sure he's not the troublemaker, locker room distraction and flag magnet he used to be.

Also, he will probably still be available later, if the pre-season indicates we have problems with out safety depth.

Sarah forgot that Jimmy Smith was with the Super bowl winning team too.

But not as a starter.

What is bugging me is how special teamers are always forgotten. Sam Koch, Tucker and Morgan Cox should also be considered starters, by any measure IMHO... And all three are still here - as is Albert McLellan who was also a "starter" at ST in the Super Bowl.

Hello, special teamers are people to...

... just as Morgan Cox and Abert McLellan - just wrote that myself, too ;)

Wow Pollard really must want to come back if he says he is going to give coach a call. I would love to listen in on that conversation :)
