[News] Concerning That Breshad Perriman Is Missing Practice?

29 posts in this topic

Hope they all get well soon. As long as we do not have any major injuries like Elam, we should be ok.

I think it is always a bit concerning whenever any player misses significant time due to injury. We were originally told this was a knee bruise and nothing serious. Now it is a knee strain. Strains simply take time to heal. I've had two pretty bad ones in my life in my quad and my back and was told both times the best treatment is doing as little as possible with those areas until you heal properly, then you rehab. If you come back too soon you are likely to re-injure the same area and possible hurt it even worse. That being said, there is no rush to get Perriman back out there. Let him heal, he's got plenty of time.

I am a bit concerned about Urschel and Myers having concusstions this early on in camp. Hope they are okay and team is just being cautious with them. It never hurts to be too careful when head injuries might be looming. Hope the guys all heal up soon and can get back out there safely.

Didn't Odell Beckham Jr. miss the first quarter of the regular season and then tear up the league in the last 12 games? Not saying Perriman is OBJ but it's better to miss time and get healthy than be hobbled and struggling through training sessions.

"Concerning that Breshad Perriman is missing practice" hope Perriman gets well soon but he is the future and gotta wait his turn! He can bust out on the seen later in the season and Wreak Havoc with glimpses of what's in store for now and the future! Triple " S ", Marlon and Kamar are up to the bat now! Let's do this!

That's like drafting a QB in the third round and in order to hype things up say "hey, wasn't Joe Montana a third rounder?" Those cases of surprise greatness are too far in between to be used as the basis for any speculation regarding Perriman.

When I realize brutal practice sessions are mandatory, I create a mind set that extends into the upcoming year. It's difficult to swallow, but some players, even when practicing, are gone for the year. In the case of Perriman, he was hurt!! Of course the front office will gloss it over as a minor bruise. We fans can take a deep breath that it may be just a few more cautious sessions. He may be ready to play in the first exhibition game. Maybe not.

It's not so much that he's on the bubble and may be in jeopardy of losing his job to another wr, but he's gotta build chemistry with Joe and get in those reps and it's extremely antagonizing for us fans because we love seeing him on the field making spectacular plays proving why he was the 26 pick.

No-one likes injuries...What stinks about it is the team always down plays it and I cant really fault them for that but you just never know how serious it is until they get back on the field or go on injured reserve or some other injury report. I really hope all the guys get well and come back strong.

Except marlon just underwent an MRI for a back injury so who knows how long he'll be out. So yea, we need Breshad to be a difference maker early in the season. We don't have the time to "bust out later".

Better to get all the injuries out now and stay healthy for the regular season. It's a young team and they need to learn how to stay healthy. That means training and watching out on field. They need to maintain there 3rd healthiest team ranking over the last couple seasons in order to stay competitive all season.

First round pick, lots of money.....Ya, I'm sitting him. It is valuable to have him out there getting reps with Joe but if you screw up his knee where he's missing several games this year, you could ruin your brand new thoroughbred. Na, we got WR's that can get us all the way. Let Perriman heal 110%. We are NOT counting on Perriman to get us to the SB this year. That's next years expectations. This year, we just need hm to get some game time, learn his craft then tear it up for about 10 years with ol joe at the helm!

Is it concerning? Absolutely it is concerning. This is the time where he can build chemistry and timing with Joe and more than anything else get his route tree down and the offensive plays down so he can play fast and not think on game day. So, yes it is a big deal that he is hurt and out.

Patience is a virtue. If he does have osgood-schlatter disease then that would explain it. He is only 21 and even though he looks like a man on the outside may not be fully grown on the inside. Ravens know what their doing and they have great doctors and I am sure they are doing what is best. Look at Percy Harvin with debilitating migraine headaches but when he felt good, look out.

I was also looking forward to some fireworks with Joe and Perriman, but honestly, if we're going into the pre-season with Sr, Aiken, Butler and Camp as our top four, I'm pretty OK with that.

Our trainers and doctors have been doing this for a while, and they know when to clear a player, and they won't do it before they are ready, because if they did to appease the coaches they would be out of job, and we have had this doctors/trainers staff here for a while....

Is it concerning? Yes. But John indicated it would take several days. This has taken several days. I anticipated this extended absence. I will be concerned if he isn't back out there next week leading up to Preseason game 1. If he misses game one I will be concerned because it will seem he is a slow healer or he hurt himself more than we were led on.

Harbaugh, love you man but as a first week med student, stick to coaching cuz you are the king of missdiagnosis and missleading the family members (us fans). If you were a medical doctor you would live in a court room because of all the lawsuits you would have against you! Lmao

The NFL is not a "wait your turn" type of league. It's a "best players play" league. If Perriman comes back soon, he will have a chance to win a starting spot, and he was already getting a lot of 1st team reps and making a lot of big plays before his injury. I'm pretty sure the Ravens are expecting him to be a starter week 1 if his injury doesn't linger too much longer.

Never trust John when it comes to injury reports on Ravens players. That is a good thing, BTW. John is using a tactic to obfuscate the true nature of the injuries so opponents are misled and he can gain Tactical advantage. Preseason is practise time for coaches too....

"He injured his knee crashing to the ground while making a tough catch" AGAIN why are these guys allowed to destroy themselves. What did that prove catching that ball? They need to stop the Macho crap and see who can learn technique and learn the plays the fastest under STRESS. Also, anyone else notice that when Joe throw a pass on tv it is behind the receiver? Is he doing that a lot?

When Harbs informs on players' injuries he's not being a doctor or a diagnostician, he's being a coach. If media didn't ask about the injuries, he wouldn't bring it up at all. Being a coach in this means treading carefully and not tipping off opponents on what's actually going on and who they will face.

So what's the alternative? To play him in practice with an injury? How would that help? Players get injured and need to take the time to heal. Better now than during the season in my book.

Obviously, it would be great for Breshad to be out there running routes and catching Joe's passes, but it's Much more important to be cautious and err on the side of safety with his injured knee. As much as I'd like to see him out there, I'd Much rather know that he is, indeed, fully 100% before he steps back out on that field. This kid is just too good to take Any chances with. Let him heal!

Just want to say that the pundits were comparing this receiver class to the previous class as far as talent and production. However, this draft class may actually be the most injured class in history. Of the top 6 receivers in the draft Kevin White, Davonte Parker and Breshad Perriman are all injured and missing significant practice. Amari Cooper, Phillip Dorsett and Nelson Agholar are the only ones practicing but are getting few first team reps. This is a great opportunity for Perriman to shine and work towards that NFL rookie of the year award if he can get on the field.
