Picks are obviously nice, but I'll take a big ol' "W" any day. Just win, Baby!!

I'm so glad to have Lewis patrolling the back field. He's what we needed as I believe he'll make other DB's better. Gotta get a #23 jersey and wear it with support and pride. First up...Denver...RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!

For me, there's nothing like creating a turnover to dial up my excitement. There's no bigger momentum shifter than taking the ball away from the other team, which can also demoralize the opposition. Hope the decent number of interceptions in training camp so far will continue in to game situations during the season. Turnovers can be the difference between a win or a loss so hoping that aspect of the game is elevated this year.

The Ravens are hosting CB Chris Cook for a free agent visit.

Cook has long arms, great size, and ample straight-line long speed, but he's never been an effective cover corner. The Ravens may be updating their emergency list after dealing with seemingly countless cornerback injuries in 2014. Aug 6 - 11:49 AM

Jimmy is right when he says we play alot of man-to-man...that in itself will result in a low number of picks, because when ur back is always to the QB, you can't get a break on the ball when they run the comebacks, slants, and crossers. I really do believe we could be more of a cover 3 team...almost a better one than seattle because we have the pieces to do it. Jimmy=Sherman, Webb=(insert cb, its the 3rd one in as many years behind browner, and maxwell), Hill=Bam Bam Cam, Lewis=Earl, Arrington=lane, CJ=wagner, D. Smith=Irvin, Suggs, Doom, b. Williams, Jernigan=bennett, mebane, avril, KJ wright. And i think our pass rush is better than theirs, so a qb throwing with a rush when we are in cover 3 looking at the ball should make for more pick opportunities. After all that i saw this...MAN IM READY FOR THE SEASON TO START ALREADY!!!!

two, fourteen point leads man. we need away to protect our leads, or at least not fall behind. If smith is not really gunning for an interception then at least make sure that no points get on the board. I'm not gonna lie, an interception for a touchdown is exciting, but if we manage to leave the game with a win, i'm not going to complain! lol

Reevis don't typically lead the league in picks but he takes away half of the field. QB's don't like to go his way so he is always going to have less.... That is what a top CB should bring to the game and I think we have that in Jimmy. He needs some help though - if Webb and Arrington can step up and if our S play is strong (which I am excited about this season). And we don't give a QB all day - a QB cannot be so selective against us and that is when Jimmy and others will start to win the turnover battle for us! WIth that being said... I would love to see Peas turn up the pressure this year a lot more and stop giving this QB's all day in a pass friendly league!

The secondary had 6 ints last year, that is pathetic. I see K Lewis getting at least 5. Webb 3, J. Smith 2, Hill 2. I believe the Ravens will be in the top 5 in takeaways this year. K Lewis's leadership will make it happen.

Yeah, but are they getting their interceptions off Flacco or Schaub? That's important.

In all seriousness, though; I'm more excited for this secondary than any other since Ed Reed left! :D

The Ravens had the 2nd best pass rush in the league last year behind the Bills. What people tend to think is that Pees makes his corners play off the line of scrimmage more because that keeps receivers in front of our cornerbacks which limits big plays. I think that is why we are always so successful on defense. I think Pees is doing great for a defensive coach he makes players play better than they really are. What Pees needs to do is try to limit those short passes which are a high percentage catch that rack up a bunch of yards after catch. That burned us several times last year and killed us against the Patriots in the play offs. They need to send Mosley and D. Smith back into coverage a little more often and move the safeties up top a lot more so quarterbacks are afraid of throwing it short. We couldn't last year with the talent at safety but I believe we do have that now.

Paying closer attention to those interceptions against Flacco for sure. But some good picks were made on Flacco throws, which gives me hope for improvement this year for turnovers from our defense. I am excited also and hopeful that our secondary will play at a very high level.

I feel like picks against Flacco means the secondary is doing well, where picks against Schaub is like a fish swimming or politician lying.

Ravens want turn overs? Well fix the secondary it going to be an issue going into this year just like last year. Its sad when Suggs has just as many interceptions as players who sole job is to get passes.

Of course, interceptions are awesome to get and can be huge momentum changers, but, although I would love to get more of them, I think it's much more important to just stop drives, get offenses off the field without them scoring points, and stop giving up so many passing yards and letting offenses get into such good rhythms. Just stop drives consistently. Interceptions are great, but just stop drives consistently. That's what we need.

The statement from Jimmy sounds mature. The young guy will want to be flashy and catch all the interceptions. The wise one knows that shutting down a WR and not allowing any yards counts for more than an interception but also two touchdowns his way.

The team that turns the ball over more is usually the team that loses. You don't necessarily have to do that with interceptions. Fumbles work just as well or I would even call strong defensive stands that are 3 and outs turnovers. If you keep the ball out of the other teams offensive hands, you got a great chance to win. I think the key for the defense is to eliminate the myriad mistakes that were made last year that allowed receivers to get wide open with nobody covering them at all. That's not something I've seen on Ravens defense since the early days when Vinny would put up 31 points and the Defense would give up 38. They don't have to be flashy, they just need to be solid. More turnovers wouldn't hurt, but I don't think that is what the focus really has to be.

I was also very disappointed with the lack of turnovers in the secondary last year.

Like salamander said, those momentum shifts are HUGE when a team has a chance to come back and score, and you can shut them down.

I'm really glad the team has made that a priority this year.
