[News] Late For Work 8/5: Jason La Canfora Sees Potential Trade Partner For New Safety

58 posts in this topic

Forsett is a funny guy ... diaper explosions, thanks Forsett for starting my day off with a laugh. Forget about Pollard people, the Ravens does not want him back and neither do I. Plenty of good players out there that would not start trouble within the locker room and calling out the coach.

You can never really put too much weight on what some of these analyst/reporters think on player evaluation.

Per John Meoli's 5 up and 5 down, he has the following two players trending down,

Cornerback Lardarius Webb: “Webb’s camp got off to the worst possible start when he failed his conditioning test and missed the first day of practice last Thursday. It’s been rough for Webb since then.”

Outside linebacker Steven Means: “Means hasn’t played poorly by any stretch, but for all the excitement about him in training camp, he hasn’t gotten the best of many tackles so far in training camp.”

Everything I've read about both (outside of Webb failing his cond test) has been nothing but positive.  I even read there's no way you can keep Means off the 53 man roster b/c of the way he's been playing.  Go figure.

I doubt there will be a trade at this point in time. My guess Ravens will test who they have at safety and only address it if necessary, or will wait for roster cuts to fit the 53-man.

Am repeating myself, but don't get how teams aren't worried about being tainted by a RB who hits his kids till they're bloody and shows no remorse, but Ray Rice is taboo. The guy messed up bigtime, but it's a shame to see him fall out of favor and into oblivion so easily.

As the former victim of several deadly diaper blows, my deepest sympathies to Justin. However, it could have been worse. I once had a nasty diaper blast into my lap and another diaper disaster go down my arm and all over and embedded in to a SHAG rug. Imagine cleaning that disgusting mess. Raising young ones can be a stinky affair. Hang in there Justin.

Agree. All these talking-heads are doing is talking, except for LaCanfora. He decided to peer into his crystal ball and create a news story instead of report facts. Sounds like deflate-gate reporting. Pathetic.

Couldn't help analyze the numbers on that last tweet about passing yards lost due to drops:

If you take each QB's Total Passing Yards from 2011-2012 Season thru 2014-2015 Season and add the Passing Yards Due to Drops figure to each, you get the below average Passing Yards per Year Avg :

Matthew Stafford = 5,173 Yards/Yr AVG

Tom Brady = 5,010 Yards/Yr AVG

Aaron Rodgers = 4,281 Yards/Yr AVG*

Joe Flacco = 4,164 Yards/Yr AVG

*Aaron's average is skewed somewhat due to his injury in 2013-2014 season.

Soooo - what i get from this is the although this group has lost the most yards due to drops of any in the NFL since 2011, They all were near the top for Passing Yard Avg EXCEPT for Flacco who had the least yards annually even WITH the extra yards lost due to drops added in.

Hopefully he can buck the trend of his not-so-stellar reg season play - and breakout with a 4,000 yard season :) At least that whats im looking for... GO RAVENS!

One word is the difference ... video. I bet if there was a video of Peterson whipping his kid too hard or a video showing Hardy using physical force at least 3 times against the woman, they both would be out of a job.

... The guy messed up bigtime....

Aside from the mess up, it's forgotten that Ray took Janay to AC for a Valentine's Day couple-a-day getaway. His intentions were romantic; the results catastrophic.

While I partially agree, read your sentences out loud and ask yourself... who in the entire world would take their fiancee on a "romantic getaway" to Atlantic City? If anybody has ever been to AC, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Even the best intentions can easily go by the wayside when consuming 2 fifths of hard liquor between 4 people. I can't help but believe that excessive alcohol consumption played a key role in Ray's behavior so completely out of character and out of control. No matter what, Ray is 100% responsible for his actions. However, my personal belief is that I doubt the incident would have even occurred if Ray was sober.  Extreme alcohol consumption can contribute to some very unfortunate, regrettable, life-altering outcomes.

Brown as trade bait actually makes sense to me. I don't have him making the team this year and we could get something for him. We all know Smith and Mosley are our starters. But the reason McClellan and Orr will beat out Brown for the backup roles are simple, Special Teams. McClellan is a leader on ST, and Orr was awesome on ST last year. Not to mention, while Mosley was sitting out cause of his wrist injury, Orr was running with the starters during 7 on 7 drills and playing great. He was all over the place. If we can get something for Brown, do it. Because I don't think he'll make it in the end, and something is better than nothing.

Shame that 3 Super Bowl winning QBs have lost that much passing yardage due to drops.

... and these do not even contain the yards after catch - because how could that possibly be correctly predicted?

So, in reality these figures would be even higher.

this is off subject but i got a bone to pick with the nfl network. when i see anything ravens is on their little news highlight i try to watch it or record it. then nfl network will dump the story for some cowboys, patriots, eagles or manning story. then the network goes to a teams training camp and spends all day talking about that team with other information from around the league sprinkled in. however, when they go to baltimore, it's about the league sprinkled the baltimore stories. usually, the story is about flacco and his eliteness status.

maybe they should change their name to the jerry jones network...

Brown for Berry straight across the board? Would be a dream come true. Would hate that salary Berry has but for the player you are getting that would definitely help our back end.

Daryl Smith is under contract until 2018, Brown is under contract until 2017. No sense keeping Brown because he will never see the field and if you can get a pizza and a 6 pack of pepsi, make the deal because otherwise you will get nothing from him. Between McLellan and Orr we have backups.

I will be the first to admit that that video was real bad, but now that some time has passed, for some reason I actually believe Ray and Janey. Ray really does come across like he actually may have learned from his mistake and took his counseling very serious. I believe Ray could actually be the exception to the rule (once an abuser - always an abuser). He has not backed away from what he did, he is honest and up front about his mistake and not everyone is. I said a prayer for him and the rest is up to him to continue walking down the good path. Maybe a team will bring Ray in for a tryout and give him a second chance.

Maybe the Ravens can hold tight until Brooks gets back at Safety, I want to see him..he showed flashes. I want to believe Lavine,Trawick, and co. Can hold down the fort with Elam injury. But if not.. Maybe make a move later in preseason

@trevorstedman I would like to get Eric Berry too. If we get him and play where he left of before his illness would be a huge plus for us. :-)

What you plan to do in Atlantic City is what determines if it's romantic or not.  The city has nothing to do with it.

The media is still shaming rice and acting like he isn't good enough to play in the league. He is only 28 and spent all last year training. Teams won't sign him because they don't want the media storm coming their way.

Pretty much a myth though...

Jamaal Charles: Made $14.8M from 2012-2014 (about $5M per season)... averaged 1,683 total yards per season and averaged 13 TDs per season.

Marshawn Lynch: Made $23.5M from 2012-2014 (about $8M per season)... averaged 1,677 total yards per season and averaged 14 TDs per season.

Adrian Peterson: Made $40.25M from 2011-2013 (about $13.5M per season)... averaged 1,621 total yards per season and averaged 12 TDs per season.

Matt Forte: Made $23M from 2012-2014 (about $8M per season)... averaged 1,738 total yards per season and averaged 9 TDs per season.

LeSean McCoy: Made $20.5M from 2012-2014 (about $7M per season)... averaged 1,611 total yards per season and averaged 7 TDs per season.

Not sure that ABrown is really trade bait. We know that DSmith isn't exactly young and may not have a ton of years left. It would be smart to keep Brown ... a young talent who knows the system.... ready to step in if there should be an injury or in another year or so... we will keep him for cheap and not sure what his trade value is at this point. I really believe that he is more valuable in BMORE then anywhere else right now. I think McClellan will be gone before the end of camp!

What's Ray Lewis say about Ray Rices return. I know they were very good friends and he was very upset when it happened. He said a man should never ever hit a woman. I was pushed into a locker by that Pittsburgh guy. I thought I was dying couldn't breathe. Maybe Ray should be forgiven but I'll never forgive that Pittsburgh guy.
