As others said, they were different style players, but I would take Jamal over RR any day. He was a punishing runner that would always get the tough yard, an invaluable weapon.

Browns have discussed signing him.... Ew!

Rice's reply: "Thanks, but no thanks. Literally ayone else? Please. I've already been punished."

Ok he didn't say that, but that would suck watching him play in those ugly uniforms in front of horrible fans.

Put it this way, Jamal Lewis RARELY got stood up from the 2 yard line trying to score.

Ray Rice not so much.

I flew up last year from Miami to go to Steelers game in Baltimore when all heck broke loose from the video. Ironically I'm flying up this year for the Browns game on 10/11 in Baltimore, I hope he gets another shot I just hope it's not with the Browns, stranger things have happened in this soap opera of the NFL (Brady vs Colts week 6). Just saying this signing wouldn't surprise me at the end of the day..... no

Not in my estimation. They were very different types of players. Ray was better in the open field and catching the ball. Lewis was more of a freight train, but had enough speed to still take it to the house. I think I give the nod to Lewis because the team leaned on him in a different way than how we leaned on Ray. Everyone in the world knew we were handing the ball to Lewis and they still couldn't stop him - especially late in games.

Jamal was a straight up bruiser!  I loved it and miss that about our running game today!  I kow the game has evolved into more of a passing league but I still want that smash mouth type of back!

The Browns just love to sign Ravens. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he signed with Cleveland. Pretty sure he and Montgomery had a good working relationship, so him going to the Browns makes a ton of sense. IIRC, Montgomery was his position coach for his entire career until we fired him last year. He might want to bring Ray in to help get the young guys (West, Johnson, Crowell) to the next level and help install some veteran leadership.

Kind of harsh on the legacy of a stand-up guy who just happened to coach a year with one of our worst o-lines, banged-up backfields and game plans?

That said, I hope Ray gets an opportunity somewhere. And to be quite honest about it (here it comes - neg away)...I wish it was here. What many will never understand about football is the family aspect of it. Families fall short and make mistakes, but to overcome those mistakes truly defines 'family'.

Ray is family. Although he'll most likely end-up on another team or not play at all this year, the thing that I care the least about is ... "What will media reaction will be like?." No one has more pressure than him, his wife and their family on them regardless.

If anything - his Ravens Family (yes, it still is true in the locker-room and out) will be able to get them through it.

I'll still cheer him on in Cleveland (except when they play us) or on any other team, because I still believe that he'll become an even bigger example for the game and the country of what 'True Redemption' will look like. Also because, he's family.

I wouldn't like him one bit on the Browns.  It would be interesting to see what he has in the tank, but I don't want to see him on the Browns.

I know where you are coming from. I think most of us can agree that he should not have his entire career burned to the ground and be serving a life-time ban from the sport over the incident that he is clearly remorseful for and is sincerely doing his penance.

So if he deserves a second chance, why not with the franchise he's been with his entire career? We're talking about a guy that named his child "Raven", which speaks to your reference to him as being family. The team wanted to stand behind him, but stepped away when the public outcry became deafening.

Alas, it unfortunately cannot be. Team and player parted ways and that parting was permanent. You may not care about what the public reaction would be, but the front office most certainly has to. Any team that takes a chance on him is going to be criticized, but that criticism would be 10 times louder if the team that took a chance on him was us. It is a sad chapter of our franchise's history that we want to be closed forever.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more that 'back with Ravensnation' would not be the right place for him to land right now. This would be that potential 'Media Circus' that we don't need right, now. We're trying to win another Super Bowl in our 20th year. The distractions would be extremely problematic for the new Ravens who really don't know Ray.

That said, I still don't care about the reactions to video or the 'Poster Boy' aspect that is now following Ray around and is jeopardizing his ability to redeem himself.  I've said consistently (on the 1st report) before the video was ever released that I didn't need to see it to know what happened and it was horrible and shocking.

Yes, the separation of the Ravens and Ray was the best course for both parties, but the hypocrisy that ensued will most likely be rectified, soon. We're living in the Social Media Era and video is everywhere and so are players that will make the same mistakes or worst unfortunately. Ray will no longer be the 'Poster Boy' and a few years later we'll look back and hopefully say, "Ray found redemption and was truly family. The only reason why we weren't able to take him back-in then was because he was the 1st, but never the worst." Public Relations be damned.

1. there are feminist organization....not such thing as childist organization.

2. people are comfortable with beating children if need be....it doesn't go against a society undercurrent. women have impunity in scenario that is physical with a man by the undercurrent of society.

3. Rice said his wife struck him and he struck her back...but the last video showed it as a one sided affair. so no...we didn't know what happened that caused rice to strike his wife. but, it was already case closed to people that feel a woman has complete domain over a man like the queen of england.

that's why player deserve more money compared to before....cause organization don't ride or die with you anymore. since 2010 everyone is offended by everything and all big companies walk on egg shells. i'm tired of everyone being offended now in days.....annoying!

plus rice will have a hard time coming back because people can't separate the football player from everyday ray rice.

these football players are not larger than life. ever since i can remember my father was like they are just entertainers and JUST ENJOY THE SPORT and always be your own man. That is a parents responsibility to be roles models....role models are for lazy guardians imo!

i care zero what goes on behind a players doors unless it affects my money or life. if rice needed to eat children the opponents children like mike tyson....then so be it. I just need the player on the field and not to get caught breaking the law.

If McCoy's leg issue is bad, I would not be shocked if Rex gave ray a call.

the bills have stated that signing rice is absolutely off the table.

Had McCoy's MRI revealed more damage, I think they may have.

I don't think he will be on our team but he deserves another chance. Greg Hardys DV occurrence was much more severe than RR yet Hardy is playing

I agree with the majority opinion here...love him, grateful for his time here, but it is best that chapter in our history remains closed.

Politics aside, he likely offers nothing as a football player anyway. He was already seemingly in decline by the time he was released

Prime player at a premium position vs long past prime player at highly devalued position.
