I liked Levine. He played well out of position. Interested to see him play a little more at the safety spot during pre-season.

I'm a big fan of Will Hill. I think he'll cement our secondary. I was kind of hoping this being Elam's third year that it'd click for him like it did with Jimmy. Maybe next year for Elam.

I like all our safeties, and i really felt good when we signed Perry as a UDFA, he has the size, and has played in a pro style defense at bama...But if he makes the team he will have to pay his dues on ST....

I think Perry's shot at making the team just went up... Could just be for the first 6 games while Brooks is on PUP though but who knows Ozzie loves his Alabama Guys

Elam was never going to beat out Hill or Lewis. We lost a backup and Elam may have extended his one more chance status with the Ravens. Trawick and Levine both make the 53 man roster now. Trawick still owes us big time for knocking out Jacoby for 6 weeks with his stupid play and total lack of awareness. Still, both of these guys are backups thank god. I'm fed up with corners getting leg injuries. Cut any secondary player that can't show his ability on the field. Get players that are tough enough to handle the NFL. Missing more than a week of practice makes you a liability. Cut them immediately and open up their spot for someone that can perform week in and week out. A lot of these guys use injuries as a way to keep getting paid, knowing they don't have the talent to make it in the NFL. Case in point is that little rookie Golson the Steelers overdrafted. His only way of not getting cut was to get injured and out for the year. His "mysterious" injury showed up out of the blue. Lucky for him.

Don't be harsh on Matt. Remember when everyone was harsh on Jimmy? Look what happened to him. Matt came back lighter, stronger and more focus than ever before. His head was screwed on right and he was ready to put in the work. Unfortunately he was hit with an injury. I say if he put in the hard work like he did during the off-season, he'll be back soon enough and capitalize off his opportunities.

We have 4 NFL caliber players in the seconday: Hill, Lewis, Smith and Arrington (who is marginal and can only play the slot well). The rest are not a threat to make the pro bowl and when on the field will be expected to pick up the least amount of responsibility. That's a good thing because that is all they are capable of doing. None of them could step up and shut down anybody or anything. They depend on the big four to carry the mail and leave them a job they can handle. We saw this very clearly last year.

But the one position in the NFL that sees the most dramatic improvement in players is corner back. See Carrie Williams and Corey Graham. These 2 rose from the ashes to complement an all star Raven lineup. So they left and got paid and were never heard from again.

The lifetime of a good cornerback in the NFL is measured in minutes, not hours. Webb looked like a shutdown corner for a year. Then he got paid, got injured and is still playing like a fool. He may not even make the 53 man roster despite his 5 million a year salary. He took a cut in pay from 8 million to 5 million to stay a Raven...BS. If the Ravens cut him he would have been out of the NFL. I would be the most stoked human alive if this guy returned to form and started earning his money. But it is more likely that a nobody from tmhe Miami practice squad will beat him out for the final outside corner position. Either that or a 5th round unheralded draft pick from somewhere in Texas.

This is why Smith is so important.

The rest of the backup secondary players are good at only one thing.....managing sporadic playing time with injuries to extend their time at the nipple. See Asa Jackson. Maybe this is the year he will contribute to the Ravens. If he sprains a pinkie...give him to the Steelers, free of charge. Based on his contributions so far he should be shift manager at McDonalds.

I'm just sick of guys afraid to realize their potential. Players that keep getting injured before they ever contribute...year after year...are just phonies afraid to take the field. That goes for KLM mas well.....put up or shut up and leave. Play harder than the next guy and you won't get injured......they will. Soft pedal it and oh well, another year getting paid on IR. See ya.

@huntrgathrr take it easy on Webb and the crew. It's not ther fault that their injuries happens. Corners and such are difficult to play because they move their body a lot and jumping in the air to deflect the ball. Corners have risks to get injuries very quickly.

If the front office thought like you did we would have cut Jimmy Smith, Webb, Jernigan, Canty, Kapron Lewis Moore, Urban, Elvis, Brooks, Asa, Rashad. Plus we would have cut Haloti, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed a few yrs ago.

Agree. He is not a vital player.  In fact, his poor tackling caused his own injury.

Schawbs' throw into triple coverage has me cautious if he ever hs to be our QB. I hope that was a design play to demonstrate end of game hail mary action.  I hope Schawb is not a shell of himself

but for the most part the players you have listed are pretty good players that have played vital roles. Except for KLM, Urban and Asa the others are key players(Canty/Jimmy/Webb), HOF players (Ray/Reed/Ngata) or a rookie that played bit time for us when a big time player was out.

Elam has played a lot and really hasn't proven that he deserves to be out there and his loss isn't as big as the guys at nfl.com made it out to be. it's still sucks because i'm one of the guys that was just hoping this was the year he lived up to the 1st round hype.

the 2 injuries i'm worried about is DUMERVILLE & PERRIMAN, especially DOOME'S INJURY is big concern, because our PASSrushers depth is thin.2 huge injuries that no one is talking about, and i hope these injuries dont linger throughout the season.

Anyone else hear Harbs talking up Trawick and the plan to try him more as a "slot LB" b/c of his size & cover skills??? I suspect that position occurs when the offense loads up with receivers. I wonder what the backend looks like in that situation--a 6/5 look, and who are the other players in that formation?

The only positive about Elam's injury is now Nick Perry has a shot. I liked this kid in college and was hoping he had a shot to make this team, now he does. Lets go Nick, show us you belong.

I feel bad for Elam however in my honest opinion I am very happy Hill is going to get the bulk of the snaps to help him get more comfortable in the system this year. I wish Elam all the best and a speedy recovery but I felt like he did not deserve to take away valuable snaps from Hill with the level of play he showed us last year just my opinion but they should have made Elam re-learn how to tackle and earn his playing time on special teams.

Best thing going for Elam is he is only 23, so he can make a come back, whether it is with us or someone else....So much will depend on how Hill does, and what he will be demanding in FA next year...Hill is betting himself signing his tender...

Still frustrates me that we gave away Pollard. I think something could have been worked out, but then again some things happen for a reason.
