[News] Late For Work 8/3: Two WRs Standing Out Among 12-Man Competition

40 posts in this topic

I dont care what Hensley says Day 1 of"PRACTICE" A.I. "Were talking bout PRACTICE"

What I know from the bottom of my heart and the track record and history of succes in the playoffs an winning Superbowls this team better carry 2 legitimate Deep Threats. (Torrey,Jacoby) Perriman, Darren Waller takes over Jacoby role. Now I havent heard much on Waller cause everyone is on Butler and Aiken, Brown. First off its known Aiken and Brown virtual locks to make the team unless they break a hip or something catastrophic.

But Waller is 6'6 240 with 4.3 speed if the Ravens dont try and develop that WR and he flies the coop and Packers,Pats,Steelers etc pick him up and he turns into another stud I will be more pissed off at the Ravens for that then alot of things.

Because they never make an effort to develop top end athletically gifted WRs like a Waller.

Where as Packers,Steelers, etc can pick a name out of a hat in the late rounds and turn chicken bleep into chicken salad

Here are the names you should remember this coming season because they are gonna show the rest of the league what's REALLY good.

Timmy J, K-Lewis, Carl Davis, Kamar Aiken, B-Will, Jeremy Butler, Jimmy Smith and CJ Mosley. Prayers to GOD that every single one stays healthy.

Ravens4life86, I still don't know how to reply directly to people :/ But Waller 40 time was a 4.46, also you speed doesn't just make great WR, ask the Al Davis. I think Waller will make the team, and we all know Permian is a lock. Look there's no doubt Perriman has a bigger upside, but players don't always reach their potential. Even if he has the bigger upside, if he's not ready, he's not ready. Kamar Aiken can be a solid 2, and even if Perriman doesn't win the starting job he'll still be used

This is why Marlon needs to get fully healthy, because he is too good to slip in the WR competition and wind up being ignored for playing time like he bewilderingly did last season. The guy can be money, he's shown that, and needs to give himself the chance to show it again.

I would be completely good with Aiken and Butler as the two main receivers after Steve Smith. They are both working extremely hard, they both have good hands, and they both can make the tough receptions. Any receiver that is not afraid to go up and fight for the ball and come down with it is ok in my book.

You do not need to have the deep threat to win games, just look at the Patriots. Tom Brady does not throw a good deep ball, but he has receivers that rarely drop passes. Catching the ball moves the chains. The further the ball flies the percentage of a receiver catching it decreases. An incomplete pass stops the clock, but a completed pass keeps the clock moving and gives your defense a rest. It used to drive me nuts all the deep passes Joe used to throw to Torrey on first down with us looking at 2nd and 10 on the next play. We never looked at 2nd and 10 when Joe threw a screen to Vonta Leach.....ever! I only like a very very few bombs/hail mary's during a game.

"During a two-minute drill, Arrington was challenged by Flacco on a jump ball to Michael Campanaro which he nearly picked off."

And to whom was the ball intended? Arrington is slightly taller than Campanaro. How was that a play?

Terrence Brooks your the next man up. Let's Goo!!!!

wasn't he added to the PUP?

Glad that campanaro took up yoga, that will be very beneficial to him and helping prevent further hamstring issues.

@cobrajet You got a good point. I think it's better throw the deep balls when it's like 2 and short like 2nd & 5 or 2 & 1 so that if the deep ball is an incompletion we still have a great chance to get a first down on 3rd down. That's the best use for a deep bomb.

I love when people try to use slang expressions for no good reason:

"Oh, don%u2019t get it twisted. This thing isn%u2019t over yet."

Really? You don't say? Tell me now, who in the world DID get anything twisted and think the competition was over yet?
