Elam wasn't going to start any way. Lewis and Hill are our starting safeties. This just means that Levine makes the team. There was no garauntee that Elam would even have made the team. If Melvin or Walker miss a lot of time that brings in Trawick or Vaughn to make the team. The corner back competition is so tight that getting hurt could mean getting cut. Right now we'll keep 4 or 5 corners: Smith,Webb,Walker,Jackson and Melvin probably. Not counting Arrington in the slot. I actually have no idea about Cassius Vaughn so he is a wild card. Our luck with Raider rejects has not been good however (see Michael Huff).

Don't like hearing about all these injuries. Sometimes those "tweaks" have a way of being more serious than originally thought, or leaving players more vulnerable to more serious injuries. And too many are already happening to the secondary again. Please, Please, not a repeat of last season.

I don't know why, but I am always super excited for preseason football because that's when I get to see all of the younger players we drafted and some of the guys that were UDFA signings, and some of the guys we are taking chances on to see what they actually look like in real time. You hear all of the clips when the Ravens sign a player. Of course they are going to say how good that player is. It would really be something if they came out and said, "Yes, we signed Joe Schmo today. He really doesn't do anything well, he's not fast, he's not strong, and he looks lost out there on the field at times, but we needed somebody and he's pretty much the best of what is out there. I just hope he can play some football for us and not stink up the joint too bad." I think it is pretty much a given that Jernigan is for real. We got a teaser from him in the games he played while Ngata was suspended. I like Campanaro but I worry about his durability in this league. But I really want to get a look at guys like Brent Urban, Kapron Lewis-Moore, Zadarius Smith, Kyle Arrington, and Kendrick Lewis as well as the new receiving corps.

I'm always excited about ANY football, but I know what you mean about seein all the udfas and guys fighting for a roster spot.
