[News] Safety Kendrick Lewis Taking Command In Secondary

35 posts in this topic

This is one heck of a pickup for the Ravens. He was very underrated in the offseason and people are going to take notice with him with the Ravens.

Why do they continue to make it sound like it's a competition for the other safety spot. I like Elam and I hope he turns it around, but Hill is by far the better option and playmaker. He made a huge difference in the secondary when he was in the game. I don't see it as much of a competition.

A veteran and a leader is what the D backfield core needed. I'm all in for KLewis. In cover 2, he and Hill are our best options imo .

There's no competition now since it's reported that Elam probably tore his bicep and may miss the season. MRI today to determine if it's a partial or full tear.

Sucks he got hurt and won't get a chance to lose that "bust" label many have given him (although I didn't see him beating hill for starting gig) we did just lose some depth

I'd love to see some forced fumbles or INTs! Also this secondary having a reputation of hard hitting would be sick. Like don't comeback here unless you wanna get hit

Agreed, he is the veteran presence and ball-hawk that our secondary really needed. I pray him, Hill, Jimmy, Webby, and Kyle stay healthy. It is a shame hearing Elam is injured. He is a guy that really needed the intense training of camp to help him elevate his game.

Hill and Lewis. This is the pair we need starting this season. Sad to see Elam go down with an injury, but this kind of thing happens and we see I every camp. We just hope that we get through it with minimal loss of talent. I like Elam and hope that he can bounce back quickly. You hate to see those with such potential go down, but that is the nature of the game.

What happened to Matt,I must have missed it, is it serious our just a tweak!

They think he tore his bicep. MRI today to determine if it's a partial or full tear.

757RavensFan, where are you finding this? I can't locate a source stating such. Not saying you are wrong, just that I usually am able to be on top of these things but my sources make no mention other than him leaving the field with a trainer.

A big thing this team has missed since Reed would be interceptions. A DL should never be leading a team in picks lol

@4evermore23 I like Ozzie to sign Red Bryant as a rotational piece and a veteran if they go that route. A 1 or a 2 year deal will do. :-)

With Lewis and Hill in the middle it is going to help out the secondary big time. So far Elam sounds like Deja-vue from last year. Just saying.

K-Lew is in the perfect system to show those who did not give him the respect he deserves. Kudos to Michael Oher for convincing him that the Ravens are a FIRST CLASS organization and helping us acquire him. Let's get it!!

Oh wow! As much as I didn't like Elam's play, I was very hopeful that he would turn it around this year. It must really suck for him to injure himself right when he was at the cusp of proving his mettle to the team. Sad for any young player to get hurt like this really.

I still can't believe Hou let K Lewis go so easily. Their loss our gain. He is the missing link since we lost Ed. A ball hawking field general.

@Bandit666 I agree with you pal. Houston will regret losing this great underrated ball hawking player like Kendrick. Ravens organization know how to make underrated players into stars in the NFL. :-)

You got that right. IMHO, Ed Reed in his prime was "the most electrifying Raven of all-time." I read stories that opposing coaches and quarterbacks were just petrified of facing him week after week when they studied tape. He was such a headhunter in his prime that receivers were probably also scared of him. If they put out a poll to ex-offensive players, Reed would probably win "most feared Raven of all time." No offense to Rod Woodson, who was also feared as a headhunter, but we did not have him in his prime and Pollard was not here long enough.

That was a head scratcher, because I was dancing around my house when I read that Ozzie signed him.

I am so excited to see this dude in action. I still can't believe we were able to acquire him. His desire to play with us and our desire to better our secondary will produce amazing results. With our investment in our pass rush along with the secondary we should be a very stout defense.

Alfonzo Dennard was released by the Cards. That would be another cute little signing for Ozzie. Can't have enough corners and he will fit nicely in depth behind Kyle Arrington in the slot position. Red Bryant and Alfonzo Dennard will be great pickups to make this team even better. :-)

"Ravens safety Matt Elam may have suffered a torn biceps during Saturday's practice and was scheduled for an MRI on Sunday, according to a report in the Baltimore Sun. The worst-case scenario for Elam would be a tear that required surgery, which would likely end his season. However, a partial tear would allow Elam to return much sooner, perhaps in time for Week 1." So what the secondary blew to 14 point leads due to injury the Ravens were still in a position to take it all! They matured "QUICK" and now having Kendrick back there with Webby Smith,Elam, Brooks and Hill is gonna be nice to see! The transformation going from Ed Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to whom they have today has been fun to watch! 123 Bad butt 456 DBs! Woooooooooooooo
