[News] Lardarius Webb Practicing, Passed Conditioning Test

21 posts in this topic

He bounced back pretty quick and in some ways not passing it the first time gave him a chip on his shoulder. We need all the motivation in the world to dominate and set standard for all backups. Rookies are gonna find out what it means to play like a Raven.

I am not a physically fit specimen ... so I have to ask -- how does one go from anaerobically unfit to fit overnight?

I knew there was nothing to worry about. Am glad Webb passed the test. One day late is better than being very late. Now it is Tony Lombardi's turn to pass the conditioning test. We're waiting .....

As former Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington tweeted yesterday, Webb may be in great shape but may have just run it the wrong way.

“You can be in great shape and fail the Ravens conditioning test,” Washington wrote. “It's all about how you run it. If you go too hard on the first 3 you'll be dead on the last 3.”

I think Webb paced himself on the first 3 to have plenty of gas left for the last three on the 2nd try.

I am just hoping that Webb and Smith can stay healthy for a full season together. Before Jimmy Smith came into his own it was Webb that was starting to look like a premier corner in this league despite his small stature. I like Webb's background as a former safety which makes him fearless of tackling and it is actually part of his game I would point out. He is one of the most sound tackling corners in the game. Now that Smith has started to look like a first round pick if they both can stay on the field the Ravens secondary will be MUCH better than it was last season. Adding Kyle Arrington to play nickel, Kendrick Lewis to play the roaming safety, and then having Will Hill for a full season and with a year of the system under his belt I think are all excellent additions. You have to hand it to Ozzie Newsome. We lose big time players all the time and with his drafts and key free agent signings as fans we're always excited to see the new guys get back on the field. Our expectations never diminish because of this.

There is no excuse for Webb to fail the test. His job IS to run those sprints. On every play!

There is more to the conditioning test than running suicide sprints. As you know, there are 6 timed segments, fail any one of the segments and you fail the conditioning test. And since he passed it the day after failing it, it's not like he had to workout for a month to get in shape.

Thanks for posting this. It clears things up a lot of us.

Does it cost for entry to watch the team at training camp?

No, it's free, but you need to have won an invitation through the lottery held a few weeks ago.

It may sound funny, but whenever I hear old people say they are praying for the Ravens, the Ravens go all the way. And we all know that when the Ravens go to the Super Bowl, The Ravens will Win. I am seriously Excited!

Sorry to doubt webb yesterday. This proves that he was fit yesterday but had a bad day at practice. Coulda been burnout on early drills, little sleep, dehydration. Keep proving doubters wrong and stay on the field.

He's been doing this since 2009. I think he would know how to finish it. Something's going on.

Which suggests a lack of focus rather than physicality, wouldn't you agree, Climactic?

If he's been doing it for 7 years and, as Fabian Washington suggests, he ran it incorrectly, then he's not paying attention to details and fundamentals!  :18_1_328:

The lack of focus may reflect in his declining tackling and sometimes, his sometimes erratic cover skills!  :link:
