[News] Is Marshal Yanda The NFL's Best Offensive Lineman?

21 posts in this topic

Even if he isn't the biggest he's mastered his technique. Regardless what run blocking scheme we run he's the backbone of our line. If it came down to it i'd pay him over K.O

I hope Marshal stays and retire a Raven. Marshal is a beast man. He takes 3 players on his own with no joke. He's a monster and probably one of the greatest guards of all time. I think he will be in the HOF.

You say Yanda looks short, shrimpy, and portly, huh? Well, he looks Awesome to me. And, I'd probably say, yes, he IS the best offensive lineman in the league. And Harbaugh says he's sure glad that he's on our team. Well, so am I. Ozzie, make it stay that way beyond this season, PLEASE! Marshall Yanda, the Ultimate team player.

So it begins,... the "Harbaugh Hyperbole" that makes me go "Gaaaaa!"  :34853_brickwall:

Yanda's a fantastic Guard, no doubt, but whether he makes the HOF with 4 Pro bowls in nine years? Doubt it! :oldwiseman:

Let em fly,.... B)

I hope we are able to lockdown Yanda and he retires as a Raven many many years from now after a HOF career and a few more Super Bowl wins. (fingers crossed)

I know that KO probably has more left in the tank, but the Purps need to prioritize Yanda first. Dude is an exemplary leader and table setter.

Don't be such a Debbie Downer, Mystigo!

But seriously, first of all he's ENTERING his 9th year, it's actually 4 PBs in 8 seasons.  And Yanda may not have the Pro Bowls (yet), but it takes a LONG time to get recognition as a guard in the NFL. It's the position where people most often get in on legacy more than performance.  In 2008 and 2009, he should've gotten in but was dealing with Alan Faneca's legacy in the way.  Now in the AFC it's just him and Logan Mankins, and he's better than Mankins now.  If he retired tomorrow he doesn't get into the Hall, but given that he's 30 and can play probably another 5 years at a high level, there's no reason to not believe he couldn't get the same kinds of accolades as, say, Larry Allen who just got in.  He'll be raking in PBs and All-Pros for years to come.  It's not a sure bet, of course, but it's not crazy at all to believe he'll get into the hall.

No matter how slowly I type something or how I try to lover the temperature of my comment(s),... someone will misunderstand it!  First, no way I'm confused with any "Debbie",... I'm the Dragon lol

Again, while I don't dismiss your argument, I will repeat my quote: "Yanda's a fantastic Guard, no doubt, but whether he makes the HOF with 4 Pro bowls in nine years?"

That said (again), I'd rank Yanda in the Top Five Guards in the NFL and if,..... IF he continues then he may garner more Pro-Bowls and if the Ravens win more Playoff Games and even another Super Bowl while he's at Guard, then, he may end up nominated for the Hall! But, as Andre Reed and Chris Carter showed by languishing so long, it's no sure thing! Therefore, I said, "Doubt it!"

And before someone else says "gotcha" and posts that they made the HoF, my point is it was long, very long in coming and I don't feel like researching for a great player who hasn't made it to the HoF just to prove that we both agree Yanda's great!!

Now, Harbs will always be a politician who is apt to over-state,... and, of that, I have no doubt!

I just comment on an earlier post :I know I'm late. been away. marshal is one of my favorite players. He embodies what it means to play like a Raven and is one of the many reasons I chose the Ravens as my team to follow and root for.
