[News] News And Notes 7/30: Breshad Perriman Has Strong Practice, Tweaks Knee

57 posts in this topic

Our secondary will be very iffy this year if our guys don't stay healthy. Miss those long years we had with good safeties that knew how to study tape and play smart. Ed Reed, Dwan Landry, Haruki Nakamura, Tom Zibikowski, Jim Leonard, Bernard Pollard etc...

Haruki Nakamura, Tom Zibikowski, i dont miss those two...slow and slower

All those reports on how Hill and Elam were battling for the SS position is a joke. If you think Elam stands a chance vs. Hill you are mistaken.

I'd bet dollars to donuts if that was Hill out there, Perriman would have torched him too. Any safety in one on one coverage vs. Perriman on that route is a total mismatch.

No doubt about it. Elam is more like battling to make the final 53.

"Perriman made plays all over the field, flashing his speed and ability to gain separation. He hauled in a pair of deep diving catches down the sidelines during full-team drills"

This sounds pretty good to me for a day one! Hope the knee heals quick.

Perriman is too fast of a player. He is going to be tough to stop. Corners are going to having a hard time stopping this guy. :-)

No doubt. But it's nothing new with Elam.

I was just stating the recent reports of Elam vs. Hill........ I did not mention the video.

I hope Perriman gets back quick. Elam is already under the magnifying glass it will be hard for him to get himself out from under it... just saying.

I do believe it was Mr. Elam getting burned again, nothing new if you ask me.But,i want to be positive, wanna see Perriman up close on the big screen,i wanna hear what the talk is all about.I will see him in action there's no way he would miss the opportunity for us to see him shine,we are not cursed just a little nip on the knee. He'll show up in uniform ready to show us why he is our 1st rd draft pick, and i can't wait toooooooo seeeeeeeeee it! Let's Go Raven's Let's Go!!

I would say aside from a handful of position groups across the league that statement rings true.

In most instances if a position group has a key player or two go down to injury theyre in trouble. With the cap most teams just can't afford to run 4-5 deep with starter quality players, so naturally with injuries sub par players take on a larger role and the units quality suffers.

I know that's nothing mind blowing or earth shattering - point is, our secondary is much improved over last years evaluating both when healthy.

Lewis is an upgrade over Hill at FS. Hill is a huge upgrade over the rotating cast we had last year. Smith should be a year better. Webb healthy should be a better version of himself. Arrington gives us a solid nickel guy who excels in the slot. Melvin as a 4th option is much better than as a starter and should be much improved with a full offseason and the snaps and experience he got last year.

Were more prepared to deal with an injury this year than we were last. We have more talent at the starting positions and more, higher quality depth behind them.

At almost every position across the lineup were an injury or two away from having some issues, but its nothing to worry about because a) you can't control it and B) every other team is in the same boat.

A couple things I'm glad to hear it was a minor injury CBS notifications went off saying Perriman leaves practice with knee injury and I was like, all those articles about no injuries no drama for the Ravens this offseason smh.

The highlight in the video I like over the shoulder catches like that, it shows the ability to track the ball while running and not stopping or mistiming the ball. With being said, I would have preferred anyone but Elam getting beat on the play, I just want to see some improvements from Elam that video doesn't help...

Nice that Campanaro returned from injury and looked well, I was thinking that his injury might linger for longer than expected like last season and could lead to him losing a position in a competitive WR battle. He definitely has the ability to be a reliable underneath target for us, but I think he has to remain healthy and perform well throughout camp and preseason if he is going to beat out Butler for a roster spot ( also not sure how the team feels about Darren Waller yet )

I hope Will Hill has a monster year, if he can play to that level he played at during that Saints game last year, where he basically shadowed Jimmy Graham around field, delivered some nice hits in the run game, made a spectacular interception, then he would have huge impact on a defense.

I hope one of the next articles goes in detail about battles in the trenches. I really want constant updates the defensive line.... I know Brandon Williams was much improved last year, I want to read about his progression as well as how Jernigan looks this time around with more time to work with NFL trainers..

So much to learn about Brent Urban, Kapron Lewis-Moore how are they competing following injuries, can we expect them to make impacts. Rookie Carl Davis how does he look out there, is stout in the run, can he create any push at all.

I've always liked D.Tyson has he improved enough to warrant more time or will he be cut like Hensley predicted. Could Steven Means actually emerge as a pass rushing option? So much to talk about within the entire D-Line...

What about me saying "No one is allowed to get hurt" wasn't clear?

I tried giving you multiple up arrows but there seems to be a kink in the system.

We will have a very good secondary. Only the starting CB spot is up for grabs and Melvin, Jackson and Webb are the best candidates. Hill, Lewis, Smith and Arrington (slot) are inked in as starters. If they stay healthy we will have a top 5 defense.
