Brooks decision surprises me, He may be an opt out for the Ravens for the first 6 games. looks like they plan on some options....watch for a late, veteran, cap casualty signing.

Pitta is not a surprise. Brooks probably will play this season but may miss first 6 weeks. This could open up a spot to keep more at another position like Wr , OL, or DL.

Am I the only one that feels more for Pitta's health than how many balls he can catch. It would really hurt to see him go down again. But at the same time it would hurt to see his career crumble like that. I wish him the best of luck.

No you aren't the only one. I feel the same way as do I suspect many others.  My guess, and it is purely a guess, is that Pitta is healthy enough to live a normal non-football life but whether he can live a football life is questionable. I think if the Ravens were honest nobody really knows whether Dennis can or should play football again. Two consecutive hips injuries to the same hip is uncharted waters. No disrespect intended, I don't know if the medical staff have a clue what look for as signs whether Dennis is ok or not to play football.

Unfortunately some injuries take longer to recover than originally anticipated. Tight-ends are a strong point for the Ravens; DBs are not the same story. Ravens must continue to assess their ability to stop the pass. Best wishes to Pitta and Brooks for full recovery.

The longer they rest and heal, the better. Brooks has a long career ahead of him. Don't rush it. 6 games seem long, but it's not. They both will come back fresh and hungry.

Brooks will be on the 53 man roster and Pitta won't. Ravens are being classy by not cutting Pitta. Let him get paid before he retires. He was a great Raven but no one wants to see him go down again and there isn't a doctor on earth that will ok that possibility.

neither of these 2 moves surprise me. Pitta for his long term health and Brooks because he was injured in late december if i remember right. when the season starts it will be only about 9 months after injury for Brooks. i know there have been a lot of guys coming back quickly but i'm thinking the signing of Kendrick Lewis helps with this a bit.

Brooks could be a monster for the Ravens. Hopefully he heals up and can come back strong and make some plays.

No surprise here.  If Dennis plays in the seventh game he at least  prooved he could practice 11 on 11 with pads and make it through near half way into this regular rather than the pre season. Good Luck  Dennis. I'm rooting for you.

Yeah  KLewis was brought here for that reason and to solidify that safety position as Elam is still on the dis list and must proove he could tackle as a Ravens safety.

When healthy Brooks will be starting alongside Lewis. Boys a beast just watch he won't shy away from contact, us FL boys love to hit. Elam won't be resigned and Hill will get more money elsewhere. Brooks is a Cam Chancellor type player just wait and see.
