[News] Michael Campanaro Confident Entering Training Camp

37 posts in this topic

He's one injury away from the DL... on the other hand if he stays healthy he may well be a significant contributor this year. Only time will tell... but best wishes for a healthy and productive year.

He's been intriguing in limited snaps, he's just constantly injured. Too bad, will D. Carter take his spot as slot/(punt)returner? Haven't seen/heard much about the Sacramento kid.

Any thoughts on the reason DeAndre was the 50th rated WR in this years draft class?

Now the Ravens have themselves a wes welker type of player in Campy! A Lil secret weapon that will make some nice plays for the Ravens all over the field!

cautiously hopeful would be more fitting; how can he be confident based on his health record trend; regardless, I hope the BEST for him / as a Raven !

Nice to learn that Campanaro isn't "intimated" by a big stage. Wow.

Camp seems to have the bravado, speed, hands to be a gem of a 7th round pick. We all know he's a local boy and want to see him do well. I think hanging Welker's phenomenal success around his neck is not a wise idea. Let him do his thing and build his own legacy. Welker's 40 time is listed as 4.65 vs Camp's 4.45.

In fact, I'm cheering for all our WRs; would dearly love to see 2 or 3 of them really step-up.

As many others have said here, for what little we have seen of him he is relatively impressive. It's easy to remember him "going Randy" on the Tampa CB in the memorable 5 TD in 16.5 minute game last year. And he showed here and there. But there were games when we really needed someone to get seperation and he didn't get it done. Of course, you have to wonder if the injuries played into that. I think if he got a whole season, he'd be able to develop into that Wes Welker, "7-11", always open type of guy.

if he is able to stay healthy i think he has a shot to make the roster, if we put him on the PS he will be scooped up by another team because when he was playing he was a pretty solid guy for us and slot receivers are becoming a big deal in the league atm.

I like Camp. but DeAndre could take his job in the slot or return. The Ravens may just take the guy who is more likely to be healthy and ready to play.

Is it required that slot receivers be diminutive? Why not a Jeremy Butler or a Darren Waller in the slot? Any way that mismatches favor our offense is a positive.

did i even mention his size? no i didn't so i think you need not read any further into what i said. he could be 6'6 and play the slot

Slot receivers are usually quick becuz they have to run their routes quickly and find the holes fast. I heard Jeremy Butler was as quick as Camp and has more range.

But camp has game time experience and has done very well when not injured. I feel very confident Camp can turn into a great slot receiver for us. He just has to his body in shape to avoid injuries. One thing abot em is he plays fearless. We dont know about Butler.

It was his rookie year. This will be his second year with Joe at QB to gain communication. Camp will only get better as long as he can stack days on the field instead of being injured.

If he stays healthy, he's going to make the team because he's a natural slot receiver with quickness and good hands, he can replace Jacoby on punt and kickoff returns, and he's a draft pick. Ack! Ack!

The only problem Camp has is staying healthy, if he can do that, he got the job, because he will go up and get the ball, and I haven't seen to many players on the Ravens wanting to do that in the slot because that requires putting your body in harms way!!!

I like Campanaro because he is "shifty quick" and has great hands like Butler. I hope he stays healthy because this guy can play.

With big fast receivers on the outside like Waller, Brown and Perriman we can put Smith in the slot along with Butler. Aiken will even to be lucky to get on the field. If Campanaro gets hurt again he goes directly to IR or the practice squad. If he stays healthy he will have to win the returner job to make the team.
