Exactly.  I didn't see him in the early parts of his career, but towards the end, I remember him as being extremely polished.

I always thought Derrick Mason would be a good WR coach.  He clearly understood the position at a deep deep level.

I want to point out how much I appreciate Bobby Engram. I don't even know if there's a real basis for this, but I get the feeling that he's really helping out these young WRs. It's nice to have a guy with the type of career that he had out there teaching these guys how to do it.

Yeah I saw an increase in quality from our reserves last year and I think Engram had something to do with it. Hope he can stick around a good while for us

Williams had arguably his best practice as a Raven, as he was frequently targeted in short yardage situations during 11-on-11 drills. He ran crisp routes and showed strong hands as he picked up first downs to keep drives alive.

Williams also just missed a touchdown over the middle of the field on a pass from quarterback Matt Schaub. Williams gained some separation from the defender as he went airborne for the pass, but he bobbled the ball for an incompletion as he fell to the ground. Might've been bad placement on Shaub's part. Glad to hear Maxx is doing good.

I've reaped the Bobby Engram praise before. He has to be better than the guy he replaced. I can't remember his name but I can picture his face. I remember he got ticked off when we didn't promote him from WR coach to head coach (we chose Harbaugh obviously) so he left.

It was Jim Hostler and he didn't get the OC position.

Yeah you're right. I was off by a few years. lol. It was OC. Still glad he's gone though. I must have been thinking Rex Ryan for some reason.

I got to see a good bit of his work being in the ACC and he had some of the best wide receiver duos in college football when he was there

Jeremey butler is still bossing.

Don't be shocked if the depth chart goes

Steve Smith Sr

Jeremy Butler

Breshad Perriman

Kamar Aiken

MIchael Campanaro

Darren Waller.

yup...i really don't think we need marlon brown. I like these set of receivers.

I remember Engram making a spectacular leaping grab of a Kerry Collins missile in a 63-14 blowout win over Ohio State.  Its at about 3:50 of this video.  Bobby with a great TD grab at about 3:30 as well.

Waller just stays because he's a draft pick.  But I think cutting Marlon would be really really foolish.  MAYBE a trade.

Don't be surprised when you're wrong. I hope you enter this into the "guess the 53 man roster" game. increases my odds of winning.

FWIW this is what Clifton Brown wrote about Brown after Day 2 of camp:

"Wide receiver Marlon Brown had a strong day of practice, getting open consistently. This is Brown’s third season, and he had seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2013. The addition of Steve Smith last season pushed Brown into the background. He looks hungry to reemerge with a bigger role."

Butler dethrones Perriman AND Aiken?

This Brown vs. Aiken debate should be interesting. Personally I see Aiken playing the bigger role for us but both should get snaps

Not really since him entering won't limit someone else from entering so you would stand the same chance at best.

As do I.  Brown will still get his snaps, but I see Aiken as a bigger part of the offense.

I reckon debate is more Brown vs Waller and Aiken vs Butler. Waller and Butler both make 53 only if we go 7 WRs, which isn't totally out of question.

Eh Waller and Butler to me are not going to be producing more than Brown or Aiken this year unless one of them has an amazing camp with a collapse by Brown or Aiken. Not really much of a debate with either for me.

I don't think anyone expects Waller to produce.  But he's a draft pick with ridiculous measurables.

A sad, sorry, unfortunate story many of you guys may know but forgot...Antonio Brown was last year's top WR. In 2010 Pittsburgh selected him in the 6th round immediately after the Ravens select R A M O N  Harewood with the 195th pick. That's :( .

Pretty much so debating Waller and Brown doesn't make much sense which was exactly what I was saying

Goes back to what I was saying in the WR thread.  If you cut Brown, you have 31 career catches from the guys behind Steve Smith.  We'd be going with 3 guys with 0 career catches to their names.  I just don't see that happening.  If Butler keeps it up, Waller could be the odd man out.  I get that he has potential, but so did Justin Harper, Tommy Streeter, etc.  At least Waller has a bit of a different makeup in that he's not this rail thin, but tall WR.
