2015 Training Camp Updates

I thought kick returns were Carter's specialty no?

Not necessarily.  I think he has something like 28 returns throughout his college career, so the return experience isn't extensive.  I know we were using him there in OTAs, but it looks like he may be falling behind in that race, if not completely out of the running.  I'm sure we'll learn some more as TC continues.

Forsett is jacked yo (looks small in pads imo) and BP needs to stay healthy!

Also, can't wait for camp footage!

They said earlier that all Ravens passed the conditioning tests.  Oh Webby.  You would think that WRs & DBs should be able to pass the conditioning tests with a fair amount of ease.

Perriman fell on his knee?..........Bust.

Its nice to have substantial football stuff back.

Sheesh...  stop...  smh

Joe's transformation from his rookie year can't go unnoticed haha.  I'm a guy and I'm not afraid to sit here and admit that he looks much better than this now...

Well, I'm not a guy, and I gotta tell ya' boys, Joe is LOOKIN' GOOD!  The scruffy and the maturity thing looks really good on him.

I think he's being sarcastic.

I hope so...  there were some saying these things before OTA's.  We need a sarcasm button.

He was. The sarcasm stick was being waved pretty hard by Pu there.

Webb's on PUP, Melvins the #2. Hate to say I told ya so.

And when Webb passes the conditioning test, Melvin will be back to being the #4 CB.

I don't know, it's not like Webb showed anything special last year. PFF has him as one of the worst in the league+ he's short and already has a disadvantage. Melvin at least flashed a lot before the Patriots game last season. Plus Webb being so unfit that he has to be put on the PUP list isn't gonna make Harbaugh happy.

Webb will be the #2 CB as soon as he comes back.  I like Melvin, too, but he's not overtaking Webb at this juncture.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting concerned with Webb after the last 2 seasons performance and now failing the conditiong test. There is no excuse for a db to fail a conditioning test. I know the db's have a harder conditioning test than most but that is already a red flag for me, for him not to come into camp in shape and ready to roll after the criticism he took this offseason with the pay cut and all is concerning.

Don't get me wrong, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Webb and his professionalism but I don't think I'm out of line by saying he needs to demand more from himself, it just feels like he's resting on his laurels at this point.

Fabian Washington and Jordan Mabin, two former DBs, weigh in on the conditioning test on Twitter...

You can be in great shape and fail the Ravens conditioning test. It's all about how you run it. If you go too hard on the first 3 you'll be dead on the last 3.

@AaronWilson_NFL hardest conditioning test I ever did.

I 100% agree. If it was a vet CB in his first year here I'd give him the benefit of the doubt; we do have the toughest conditioning test in the league. However, Webby has done it many times now ... he knows what to expect and didn't pass it. From that aspect, it has to be a bit concerning.

And shouldn't...

I still remember the playoff games. Anything more than a being #3 will burn Melvin big time.

He played well enough all things considered. He actually reminded me of Jimmy's rookie season during that game. He was in decent position but a HOF quarterback was just too good.

Melvin jumped from #4 to #2 because he is an outside corner and can't play the slot.

I remember the playoff games to and I remember when the Patriots realized that "throw it to whoever Melvin is covering" became basically there playbook in the 2nd half of that game.   Webb showed probowl level play before his back injury and probably deserves a full season healthy before I say he doesnt have it anymore.

Sounds like Butler and Carter had really rough practices today. These were 2 guys that were really hyped up during the offseason workouts. Hopefully they get it together soon. I'd rather ser both guys play well and be the victims of the numbers game then not play up to potential and be cut.

How is a "healthy" Webb not going to pass his conditioning test, but the guy coming off foot surgery (Jimmy Smith) did? What has he been doing all offseason?

Where's the info coming from?  Curious to read or hear whoever it's coming from.

Meoli's article from the sun touched on Carter:

"DeAndre, you've got to be faster." — Offensive coordinator Marc Trestman to Carter after he was slow to line up for a play, and slow to execute during the play. Carter was a media darling from rookie minicamp and OTAs, but the quality of veterans around him has diminished his impact.

Reports are saying that the D-line is on fire. Carl Davis and Zadarius batted down passes.

But I thought Carl Davis was a guaranteed no show for this entire season??? you're sending mixed messages.

Using an opinion shared two days ago against a news report less than 5 hours old. Good job.

you make a great point. it does seem crazy to form an opinion about the impact a rookie player is going to have based on no information. thanks for clearing that up :).
