2015 Training Camp Updates

If The Ravens can get a 2013 Ladarius Webb then that's fine.. He probably won't ever be like his 2011 form but I have no reason to believe he can't atleast still be solid number 2 cornerback again.,, He didn't look explosive last year because of his back injury which is not a easy injury to recover from right away. Webb did look good later on in the season.

2013? no thanks.

I agree with Sami (wow that felt weird typing). Webb can't be relied upon and when he does play he'll be ineffective and be hampered with injuries like he was last year. Arrington was a nice piece but he's not an outside corner, Melvin is still too raw and he's very inconsistent still, Tray Walker has potential but he's a project. I'm just calling it like I see it, Webb will be hobbled again this year and Arrington won't fair well if we ask him to cover on the outside. If our pass rush will be good enough to compensate for it is still up in the air. We will throttle most teams with our defense as is but the high powered passing attacks could definitely be a thorn in our side.

I would welcome a trade but I just don't see anyone out there who could be our #2 and is realistically on the trade block without giving up a 2nd or 3rd and that's just too much. Corner is such a valuable position, teams aren't in the business of trading good one's away unless they get REALLY good value back. Even when the Colts traded for Vontae Davis he had some personal issues and the coaching staff was concerned with him and he still commanded a 2nd round pick in return. I think we're rolling with who we got, trade seems very unlikely.

Good point, as I recall Vontae was also doing pretty bad in training camp that year (Dolphins Hard Knocks).

So reading the LFW headlines for today and it states "Perriman set to get MRI", you mean to tell me after all this time he has yet to get one????

757...  Usually after the injury its the MRI table for a player. This suggests they have lingering concerns and unsure if he is in game day player shape. At least we have some melodrama during pre season.

We're talking about the right corner endzone pass right?  With S. Smith in his baggy grey boxers?

Melvin never looked for the ball again and he wasn't that close to Steve who is not gonna out juke many at this stage.

This is easy. Toast has to play a good game before he erases that embarrassment last year.  Until he does, he remains "Melvin Toast", like the Melba variety.  But some here may get their wish, looks like Webby is struggling with health again.

When I see that good game, I'll consider rescinding his well earned nick. 214 yards, 2 TD's in a game we would have won is not going to be easily erased.

Melvin killed it all practice.  He'd be my "MVP" of the day.  He looks a lot more comfortable out there.

I know you have a general disdain for the guy based off of one game, but if what I saw today is any indication, he is not that guy.  He's improved.

"Toast" is as good a nickname for Melvin as Cleats is for Elam. #lame

You could put #22 and Sherman together on Senior on that play - pass was so good that it was still going to be TD.

I quite Like Josh Norman..maybe a mid round pick would suffice to carolina would suffice?

He's their starting CB coming off of a breakout year...

I could care less that you don't like him much and don't think much of him after how he played. I'm just saying your nickname just isn't that clever. Think of something better.

"Cleats". Wow.

One game apperantly define careers and negate anything bad that happened before. Everyone has a bad game.

That pretty much makes him untouchable

Not to some fans. I'm sure there are those out there that think because of Deflategate their team could trade a 5th round pick for Brady or something.

While Webb sat out of practice yesterday, Melvin had a “monster” day and The Sun’s Jon Meoli even threw out the term “Melvin Island” when talking about the third-year corner.

Ironically, at this point:

Melvin>Justin Gilbert and most of the cornerbacks drafted high in that draft.

He's young and shoes tons of potential, we should treat him like he was a first rounder and give him ample opportunity to start and He might get it if he shows he's good against the eagles.

Gilbert to me has the makings of the worst kind of bust...the guy who fails because he just doesn't care (aka Jamarcus Russel). some guys just can't play at this level. Their failures are easier to deal with as a fan. But from comments he has made it seems like he is just going throught the motions. Yet another excellent draft pick by the Brownies.

I'm not a fan of bleacherreport and that's not article talking about how well Webb did for the rest of the 2013 season but just few games... Webb had some bad moments in 2013 (so did Corey Graham) but  I thought he played quite solid in 2013.

Hopefully he can play better in the next preseason game because honestly it seem a little telling that a guy like Quinton Pointer was starting on the first team over Melvin but maybe Harbaugh use that as  motivation ..

Sorry y'all, but I'm not buying Melvin as Webb's replacement. If Webby plays anything like he did at the end of last season, we'll be just fine. Sure, he might not start 16 games, but he's going to be the starter.

Not going happen considering that he is  The Panthers best cornerback at the moment .... I don't think The Ravens will be trading for any cornerback this season unless something really bad happens to their depth. They could sign Chris Cooks but other than that I don't expect any trades for a cornerback.

he had a rough start but got better after the browns game.

still..he's in a decline that looks obvious..physicaly he's just not there.

There really weren't any opinions expressed in that article, so bleacher report or otherwise it just showed how bad he was. Second half?  I guess you could say his play was improved, but that's still not saying much and could never make up for his putrid play in the first half of the season. We have basically got a season and a half from Webby, that's about it.  Who knows, maybe by some miracle he improves and plays well. I sure hope so, but all signs are pointing south.

I like to think a Ladarius Webb with out the back issues last year would have had a  better season.. He came into camp healthier than he's ever been and players commented on him saying he looks much quicker and etc. Right now he's dealing with a hamstring injury which isn't a serious injury at all but we shall see how Webb turns out this years

I'm hearing the secondary is being shredded so far by the likes of Sanchez. Who's practicing?

The starters....

Early reports aren't promising for the secondary.

Like I said..

this isn't a fluke..we need an upgrade opposite jimmy. Also enough of the kendrick lewis crap. he;s an average player.

I've heard nothing about the offense, but from the sounds of it the defense is getting worked.

Given that we're pretty shorthanded on offense this is somewhat troublesome. Practice is just practice but over the past few years we've practiced how we played.

And average is an upgrade over what we had. But I agree he can't be as good as some people seem to think when you look at what we are paying him which is next to nothing for a starting FS.
