Ooof, not a  good look for Maxx. I hope he can prove me wrong and have a great season, but I think he takes some time to come around. I'm expecting Gillmore to have a nice season though.

I remember an article of him speaking directly to all the information he picked up about eating right and staying in shape.  Does look a little rubbery in that picture though.

You mean Terrence Cody? He was always out of shape

sure, thats a decent example, but ive seen a lot more than just terrence, usually its linebackers and tight ends. this is the time of year they eat a [crap] ton to bulk up and hit training camp hard, get in shape etc. hes already in shape, just putting on lbs.

People are sleeping on Kendrick Lewis, I think this coaching staff has already penciled him in as the starter next to Hill. Yes spots are earned and not given but I think he's our guy at FS and it's his starting job to lose in the coaches eyes.

Yep. Hill and Elam were splitting snaps in OTAs, not Lewis and Elam.

Lewis may be more of a lock to start than Hill. He offers a unique skill set none of our other safeties have. He's more of a pure FS.

It's going to be Lewis and Will Thrill starting unless Elam shows off the charts. And then I think he'd only be cutting in Hills snaps - not Lewis'.

I heard that about Gilmore... And I heard a lot of positive things about Boyle. But from what I remember everybody was wondering why there was almost no reports on Maxx whatsoever, and many assumed it was because he wasn't doing much. Not saying what you heard isn't true- I just never heard anything like that. The best I heard was that he had a decent camp but has a lot to learn. Which is expected in a way - not saying it like it's some big thing and we should panic, just that the reports on Boyle were a lot better. I mean the kid is only 21 years old so he's got a lot of grooming and growing to do. But from the bit of footage I saw, Maxx looked completely exhausted and worn out, I guess I was just expecting him to be in better shape bc of all the hype that was around the guy. Still got high expectations for him though, I just definitely think it will be a much slower process than I thought and may take a few years.

Yea it was reported on this site I believe that he had a solid camp. He didn't make as many flashy plays as Gillmore but that he caught everything thrown his way many for first downs.

I think it has mostly to due with expectation vs what was shown. Maxx was expected to make catches so simply doing that doesn't stand out as much as Gillmore or Boyle who were mainly known as blockers but were making big catches.

So that's what got focused on in reports but Maxx performed to expectation. Definitely room to imporve but he was solid and did what he could with the targets he got

There is no chance in hell of elam taking hills spot. Will Hill is an all pro SS. Elams had his chance.

lol Maxx was never about being very Athletic or built. His game is built on being fundamentally sound and consistent.

Yep, high football IQ and instincts. What people should be commenting on is how amazing he's going to be once he has an NFL body.

The problem is he does not appear to have that now which considering now is when he is needed could present a problem come the regular season.

I dunno. He's our #2 TE. If your #2 TE is the difference maker on your team you're already in trouble lol. Personally I think it'll be fine. He's like the opposite of a Stephen Hill. Don't let the measurables fool you, kid can ball.

no kidding man, It's wild thinking about it..I'm only 27 so half of the players in sports in general are younger than me- really makes you wonder.

At 27, you have started wondering way too early.

There has been only one Raven older than me ever.

No one is more of a lock to start than Hill. He's the most talented safety by far and probably the most talented secondary player on the team. There is 0 chance Elam starts over Hill barring injury.

Hill and Smith are close talent wise. I'm not sure why Hill is underrated around here. His deficiencies are off the field. Not on it.

Most offenses use a pass catching tight end and a blocking tight end together and he is no doubt supposed to be our pass catching tight end while Crockett will fill the role of our number 2 blocking tight end who can sometimes catch the ball.

I think you're operating under a misconception. Gilmore is our #1 TE both blocking and receiving in 2015. I see Maxx coming on and making some plays as well but, in my view, it's a mistake to classify Gilmore as a pure blocker. He's a great blocker and he will be called on to do so early and often, but we didn't spend a 3rd round pick on a 6' 6" 275 lb behemoth just to block. I could see Gilmore having a slightly higher ceiling than Heath Miller.

Also, considering Maxx's body is nowhere near strong enough to consistently take on NFL LBs and DEs, it would be a huge strategic liability to make him the #1 this year. Would be way too obvious what we were doing when he was in the game and we'd be hamstrung in our base sets because wouldn't be as effective running the ball.

Seems like Will Hill is hugely underrated around here, that guy is a beast. If there is one Safety that is locked in as a starter it is Hill. Not Lewis. Not Elam. Nor Brooks

Unless of course his off the field issues get the better of him again

I live off his twitter feed, this is a gigantic blow

he's always behind. I follow other guys that tweet stuff about half an hr or hr before him. I've seen him tweeting news the following day after it was reported a month or so ago as well.

Obviously likes to ensure his sources or correct or something but 90 percent of what he tweets I already know from someone else

It's not under rating Hill.

And I know he'll start. Was just pointing out that Hill and Elam split reps equally at SS. Not Elam and Lewis.

not really.. And I didn't necessarily mean wondering In that sense..

I got a scholarship to play baseball back In Highschool and I pissed it all away by gettin in trouble. When I see guys that are my peers or even younger than me livin their dream it really makes me wonder what could have been. And what makes it even worse is when these athletes get arrested for somethin like domestic violence and are already getting their 2nd and sometimes even third chances and STILL mess it up when I never got another chance period. So yeah just makes you think.

The Ravens conditioning test is starting to become notorious. Glad those guys passed. Hope none of those guys failed for being out of shape and definitely hope that this is the last time the conditioning test is mentioned this season.

I could make a joke about time zones but I'll just say that Wilson was the most in-depth, gold-standard reporter that the Sun had. Never had to question the validity of his statements, and the credibility of his work. He was 'in' with a lot of the agents which is how he got contract information and some inside scoops when he could.

I wasn't much of a twitter hipster so he was the main hub of information when I wanted to streamline training camp updates and the comings-and-goings of free agency. His breakdowns, post-game, were always worth the read as well.

It seems to happen to a lot of the rookies every year.  I have more concerns for the veterans that have done it before.  At least the rookies kind of go in blindly, and then realize just how difficult it is.
