So you had him rated 3 rounds higher than 32 GMs and their scouting teams? Yeah, ok!!

I had de andre smelter as a 2nd/3rd round talent and he went much later.

Anybody got anything on Trent steelman?

They just put up an article on him on this site's homepage. He helped the US Team win the gold medal at the International Federation of American Football World Championship, where he was named the MVP. The article also talks about him being one of the best players in West Point history and was the school’s all-time leading rushing quarterback, running for 3,320 yards and scoring 45 touchdowns.

“@sportguyRSR No signs of Marlon Brown or Breshad Perriman during early portion of practice. Lardarius Webb is practicing for second straight day.”

Hopefully Perriman's knee is not worse than they reported. Any word on why Brown is sitting out?

They are probably just being cautious and making sure it is 100%.  There is no reason to rush someone back during training camp and risk giving them a nagging injury during the season especially as a rookie.

A knee bruise isn't going to heal over night. They're also probably being extra cautious considering he's a rookie and it's only the first week of camp.

It sounds like Asa Jackson just continues to fall down the depth chart.  Cassius Vaughn, Quinton Pointer, and Tramain Jacobs have apparently surpassed him if reps are any indication.

yeah I just saw it after I posted. Sounds intriguing I guess. Hard to tell how he will compare up against our other receivers - esp since he's always been a qb. Sounds like a strong athlete though.

Tbh, I never heard of this guy. Is he getting first-team snaps?

Yes he is.  Journeyman that found his way onto our practice squad last year.  He's small at 5'8 and 185lbs, so likely relegated to covering the slot only.

that's not the same thing.

Not saying Sami had him rated there as I am not him and wasn't on here in 2010 but that sort of thing happens every year in the draft so it shouldn't be discounted because you have 32 teams all thinking and looking for different things.

Thanks for the clarifying. Love the fact that journeymen gets first-team reps. I assuming he's got good speed too?

Could it be possible that the coaches are trying to keep him healthy exclusively for PR/KR?

Looks like low to mid 4.4 was projected.  It doesn't look like there's a 40 time on record.

I saw a tweet yesterday that he's turned into Chykie Brown - getting beat and burned by anybody and everybody.

Oh, that changes things :/ any word of how he's doing fielding punts and kicks?

I don't think there's much information on returns at this point, since pads just came on today.  Not much to judge when there's little contact.

This is almost an exact quote, one reporter said "Asa getting beat by Steve Smith has almost become tradition"

If Asa does not make it as a CB he likely won't make it.

Per Aaron Wilson, Wide receiver Kamar Aiken had an extremely impressive practice, making good adjustments downfield to haul in passes.

The most impressive play of the early portion of practice belonged to second-year defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, who on a run play during full-team plays pushed back Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda several steps before shedding him and taking down running back Lorenzo Taliaferro in the backfield.

Pushing Yanda back on a run play is incredibly impressive

Again, this is said every year about whatever hot name it might be.  Seamster is the only guy that I can recall that was claimed in recent history, but I think we wanted Jacobs to make it through more than him anyways.

I know there were others but the biggest one, for me, was John Simon who looked great as a pass rusher

EDIT: Every other draft pick since 2010 has made the team or just been cut if I recall correctly

We clearly weren't concerned about losing Simon.  He was on our practice squad.  When the Texans made the move for him, we had the option to move him back up to the 53 man roster, and we chose not to.
