2015 Training Camp Updates

2,126 posts in this topic

I figured we could use this thread to keep track of some news and notes throughout training camp since football is finally back!

Here's the first update I've seen of note:

Ravens place three on NFI list including Buck Allen and 4th rounder Tray Walker

It's probably not a big deal at this point, and more of a formality than anything. It's still weird that we've heard nothing of this so far.

Are they not letting any reporters into training camp or something because we'v me heard absolutely nothing. Even Aaron Wilson hasn't said anything, are you sure that Buck Allen/tray walker news is true?

Just rookies have reported so far, veterans report next week. Not sure what the actual structure for practice is... if there's any at this point. They have to pass their physicals and conditioning tests.

Ahh the dreaded conditioning test.  I forgot all about that, but that explains why they're on the NFI list.  This happens every single year, and every single year, I seem to forget lol

Thoughts on undrafted WR Daniel Brown? Looks like he has good size/speed of 6' 4-1/2" and ran a mid 4.5 (according to the Baltimore Sun). He definitely has the right mentality for training camp especially with how tight the WR competition should be: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-undrafted-rookie-wide-receiver-daniel-brown-either-i-take-someones-job-or-im-jobless-20150723-story.html "There's a point where you have to take someone's job to make a roster. It's a business. Either I take someone's job, or I'm jobless."

I'm not familiar with NFI.. . Fill me in?

It's used for injuries that happen outside of team sanctioned football activities, and in the Ravens case, for guys that don't pass the conditioning test.

Yep exactly.  It's primarily used for Jason Pierre-Paul types of situations or guys that are drafted hurt (i.e. Gurley) and hadn't yet participated in any minicamps or OTAs.

Yep.  Still recovering from a foot injury.

Close to five months away from surgery by the first of August, since his foot surgery was done in early March of this year.    I really hope Worthy is doing well, I know he can play, and play well.  I don't know why but for some reason I think Worthy is kind of getting "ignored" on purpose...if ya know what I mean, a little hidden surprise, lol.

Aaron Wilson tweeted that Rick Wagner will play in the preseason and that Terrence Brooks is officially on the PUP.

Brooks should be interesting.  He participated in minicamps and was apparently looking pretty good, although not 100% quite yet.  I'm curious to see whether we think he's good to good (although limited) to begin the season, or if we'll just give him the minimum 6 week break.

If he gets the full six weeks, I can't see him starting this season.

I really really want Brooks' name in the hat when the starting safeties are being decided between Hill, Lewis and Elam.

Only Hill is guaranteed to start and even then its unsure which Position.

I'd almost say Lewis is guaranteed unless Elam blows it up. So, I'd say I'm 80% sure Lewis starts

Definitely a tough one.  He still has my follow though because he does cover all teams.  This thread may not be near as full with this loss.

I think we're in good hands with Zrebiec, though.  He broke quite a few stories this offseason.

I questioned one of his tweets and he blocked me; so no loss to me.  :229031_thewave:

waving bye bye.
