[News] Late For Work 7/23: Who'll Gain More Yards: Justin Forsett Or Adrian Peterson?

50 posts in this topic

Peterson has to offset Bridgewater's inexperience. Forsett is taking handoffs from a Super Bowl MVP. AP will obviously have more rush yards.

Cam Worthy is a good stash. That's one project player i feel like could really materialize into a useful player for us, if he gets his body together.

Carli's shot was awesome and Japan had to be SUPER upset, they caught no breaks in that game and probably went into it feeling like favorites, lol.

Peterson has a lot more to lose if he goes out there and flops there fore he would have the edge.

he just got an extension for a a lot more money than history suggests he'll be worth in a couple years; though if there's an exception to the rule, AP is most likely to be that guy.

but he doesnt have anything at all to lose right now except face, maybe, after stirring up all this drama in order to get this contract.

No offense to Forsett, but Peterson is in a league by himself, if he can get back to playing the way he was before. Forsett was a good piece in a good offense last year. In years past, Peterson WAS the MIN offense.

It will IMHO boil down to two factors:

- Peterson's health;

- the vikings' QB.

If Peterson can stay healthy, and Bridgewater fails to make progess, they might revert back to the good old stuff-AP-with-balls-until-he-bursts-and-some-more strategy, while if Flacco can find success with his receiving corps, Forsett may see much fewer carries than Peterson.

The YPC stat might be an interesting battle scene.

I don't know, from year to year AP's s stats never really change that much, with 2012 being the one exception. Even when Brett Favre was the qb his number of carries didn't really change but his ypc kind of dropped.  No matter what Bridgewater is doing AP will still get around 21 carries a game and average over 90yds a game.

I do agree with you, ypc could be an interesting battle, but I think both will finish with around 4.7yds

Whoever thinks Forsett will have more yards than AD is just a fan and isn't thinking straight. 2013 he basically carried that team with 8 and 9 men in the box. Now he has a QB and a couple of Wr's. Peterson will lead the league in rushing this year and I'll go as far as he'll be the offensive player of the year this year.

Yes, Peterson will have more yards simple because he will have more opportunities. Without a running back to take carries from him and a passing game that still has a lot of questions AP will probably carry the team the majority of the season.

What qb and wrs are you talking about?  Unless they give him more control over the offense Bridgewater is as much a game manager as any of the other past Viking qbs.  And their receivers didn't do much last season, so why should they expect more this season?  Sure Wallace should have a few more yds than what Jennings had last season, but outside of that I don't see a big change.

Like I said in the previous comment AP's ypc actually dropped in 2009 and 2010 when the Vikings had a good qb in Brett Favre and some good receivers.   So, if he is able to repeat his 2012 season it will because he sat out most of 2014 and got healthy.  But as of right now I expect the normal 4.7ypc  1,400yd 10td Adrian Peterson.

I don't believe Justin will have more rushing yards but I do think he could have more scrimmage yards (total yards) than Peterson. Marc Trestman likes to throw at Rbs in space especially screen plays so I could see that happening. P.S. Great News for me is that I got the tickets for the Ravens training camp in the faculty in the mail today Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!! LOL :-)

That's a good point.  I know Forsett caught a bunch of passes last season, but I felt like that was something that was missing from our offense.  Rice was always such a huge part of the passing game and it was weird not having a running back filling that role.  If he can catch more passes I think he could beat AP for more yards from scrimmage.

Peterson has something to prove, Forsett do not Forsett hands down. prediction 2000 or more yards. now that was a bold statement.

That playoffs estimate is laughable. They have 8 AFC teams with a greater than 50% chance of making the playoffs and 4 NFC teams with more than a 42% chance of making the playoffs. Personally I see 14 of the 16 AFC team making the playoffs #Sarcasm.

It is way early to compare Strong and Perriman, I mean we haven't even played a preseason game yet.

Of course Justin Forsett will have a boatload more yards and TD's than Adrian Peterson, he's a Raven baby! On a serious note, if our o-line stays healthy and our zone blocking is as effective as it was last year, Justin should have a pretty good year. I'd rather have Justin than AP's huge cap number.

Ok,who's going to gain the most yards this year....my answer "Who cares",how in anyway is that related to what the Ravens are trying to do? Are we that bored we can't think of anything else to discuss,Come on!

Yeah who gets more yards is a bit of a who cares question, because it is about which TEAM will have the most W's at the end of the season.

Having said that, maybe AP by a nose because I think we will have a very well rounded Offense this year, and the Vikings will have ... Adrian Peterson.

Ravens will definitely have more W's booyahh

I dont even see how this is a legitamate question? justin forsett is not in the same league as adrian peterson I mean AP litterally put a whole team on his back and won games and we are not talking about a quarterback here who controls the offense but a running back.

AP (if healthy) is gonna be AP n be the best RB in the league but thats cuz the Vikings need him to be in order for them to have any success in that division. We don't necessarily need Forsett to be our entire offense, he'll be a very focal and important part but not the one we depend on to carry us into the playoffs & SB. My opinion AP will have more yards with a lot more touches than Forsett. As far as Jaelen Strong or Permian, its tough bcuz I was praying we drafted Strong. I watched Permian in college and he's got elite speed don't get me wrong but Strong had some of the best hands out of the entire rookie class, not to mention Strong was really solid at blocking and better with route running. Permian really needs to step up n not drop as many balls as he did in college. I hope he can immediately change my mind.

The only thing I wish Peterson is oblivion. I believe he is an epic RB, but a horrible person. But if I'm to be objective, it's a 50/50 thing. Peterson has a better resume. However, Forsett has less mileage, better offensive line, more experienced QB, better distraction in the passing game with the weapons we've acquired and is still out there to prove something.

I too at the time preferred that we drafted strong, however I'm glad Ozzie makes these decisions and I don't, bc I quickly realized how much higher of a ceiling perriman had and how beast he is. I think we may have finally nailed it, we just need to keep supporting him and not start bashing him soon as he drops a few. Confidence is extremely important.

With training camp starting today, I see that changing tomorrow.  Training camp and pre-season offer more fodder for stories and for fan comments than the regular season because the speculation and hopes are so high amongst all of us.  Plus there are 90 players to talk about not just 53.  From on field to touching off field stories, the next 4 - 6 weeks offer some of the best articles and comments of the season.  Of course, if we get to the playoffs, it really gets interesting, but I really like this part of the year.  The new players, the vets fighting for positions, the questions surrounding the offense and defense and all the rookies we are counting on.  I am a die hard Hard Knocks fan and that is why I really love the preseason.  Also, got into training camp through the lottery so I am stoked.  I am salivating already......

This is true, this is true.

I want to say Forsett! But C'MON MAN! it's Adrian Peterson! Don't get me wrong i'm going to vote, route,Scream bloody purple for Forsett to have more yards this season. But you got to remember We have a MVP Superbowl winning QB... I have no clue who the Vikings have... so it's very likely The Viking will Run the ball more because they lack the Passer.
