[News] Eisenberg: Forbes Ranking A Genuine Baltimore Sports Triumph

Tagliabue!. The man is a typical Washington bureaucrat. Cannot understand how this clown became the NFL commissioner in the first place. He had his mind made up right from the start that Baltimore was not going to get an expansion team. We all know how that ended and can laugh at him with great pleasure. "Build a museum". That was the line that finally pissed off a city.

I have my theory on our snub. I think it came down to the senior member of the owners club, Jack Kent Cooke, working over Tagliabue. In the end, it didn't matter ... it only delayed the inevitable.

People in Cleveland who whine about the Ravens get no sympathy from me. The league gave them a franchise (with the same logo and history) on a platter 2 years after their team's departure. They told us to go build a museum. The loss of the Browns was in no small part due to the fact that the league botched the expansion selection.

While none of this went to script, right now, I wouldn't have it any other way. We've got a fantastic organization behind a fantastic franchise, with a fantastic fan base. I'll take it.

Great post!

I never quite looked at the Cleveland situation like that, but you're absolutely right.

I think it was perfect timing, we got Oz, and company, and have been able to stick it to Cleveland fans for over a decade now..... :)

Also, the 2016  twenty year celebration is icing on the cake

I was definitely pumped to read this even if it's only really focused on Bisciotti's pockets.

Either way it really shines the light on how much this organization has grown and how Baltimore loves football

Go ahead and neg me if you want but I've always been a fan of both the Redskins and the Ravens. I never saw the need to choose between them except when they played each other, which was rare. Our real rivals are the Steelers. And the Redskins real rivals are the Cowboys. We're not even in the same conference. This way I double my chances of having one of my teams in the playoffs. Of course lately it's been our Ravens that have done the job. But back in the 80's it was nice rooting for Doug Williams and that most amazing 2nd quarter in Super Bowl history when the Redskins pancaked John Elway's Bronco's with five straight touchdowns. Yes, the same John Elway that snubbed Baltimore by refusing to come play here after the college draft. To this day I cheer when his team gets smacked around. Hopefully this will be repeated this year by the Ravens when we play them on our opening game in Denver this September.

I was tempted to neg you just because u asked for it. Maybe next time lol.

I know a lot of people that support both and share your point of view. Not saying I want the Redskins to be great but seriously..... Any team that kicks the stupid Cowboys behind is a team that I support "temporarily"

And thank you baltimore for all those consecutive sellouts! Some of those games were hard to watch better yet pay good earned money to attend them in person. Classy people diserve a classy owner and a classy team.

The reason Baltimore did not get an expansion franchise is because we had 3 ownership groups that the NFL did NOT want or like. Remember Boogie? Wayne Weaver, Jacksonville's owner, was offered the Baltimore deal and turned it down because he wanted to stay next to his business headquartered in Jacksonville. The owners vote for owners they like first, and Baltimore had nothing to offer. Although offering the best financial package of all teams, Baltimore shot itself in the foot and blamed others. Modell came because he was offered a winning lottery ticket worth $300M,and hurt the Cleveland fans while doing it.

Chelsea arsenal and Man C are not legendary soccer clubs lol

Arsenal had a brief period in the late `90 to early `00 where they did pretty good.

Chelsea has been good the last 10 to 15 seasons and Man C only had success like the last 4 seasons lol.

It was nice to hear all the good and bad about the history of losing a team and giving back to a city that that was punished for something or things they had no control. The World do not and will not like Baltimore in any sports, or anything on any level, we must learn to live with this, and move on and be greatful that we have two major sports. We are greatful for Mr. Modell we are greatful for all the owners of the Orioles past and present. , We are a greatful people but we do not need Orioles fans hating on Ravens fans, we do not need Ravens fans hating on Orioles fans this is OUR teams no team is better then the other. plus these are two different sports from the same town , stop this already befor it get out of hand Please.it was on my mind so I had to say something, sorry for throwing some of you off,
