You Guys Ready for Some Football? Ravens 2015 Season Countdown

74 posts in this topic

Hopefully we can take advantage of that O-line and get at Manning. Hopefully we can shutdown Kubiak knows what he does do. I fear for our passing game vs that secondary.

Hopefully our O-line has no rust and can hold back Von

Peyton just get's the ball out so fast but hopefully The Ravens defense can exploit their week offensive line.

I want us to so badly start the season with a victory over the Broncos, but I have to admit I don't feel very good about it.

When we opened up against Denver in 2013 I did not have a good feeling at all.  This season, I actually really like our chances.  Denver isn't as scary as they used to be.  They lost two pieces that made them really dynamic on offense (Welker & Julius).  Their O-line is a bit makeshift as well.

I really think the 2015 Ravens could be a great team.  I think utilizing the backs out of the backfield and mixing in some new weapons will be a welcoming addition.  Our D should be top 5, if healthy.

I'm not too scared of the broncos. We pretty much know their gameplan. Just look at how good the Texans and Jags were prepared last season.

What concerns me is for the first game, Peyton and the Broncos led by Kubiak will be ready to go and perhaps have a game plan to throw our defense out of whack. They'll put pressure on Flacco with their defense as well. It just depends on our game plan and how quickly we can adjust and get their crowds quiet.

And we should be ready to go and have a gameplan for them.  We should know how Kubiak will operate their offense.  Kubiak has no idea what our Trestman-led offense will entail.  Sure he knows most of our players and tendencies, but we have the ability to surprise him more than he does us.

Facing September Peyton is more daunting than January Peyton by far

Last time we played him early we all remember what happened, that was rough. It will be interesting, for sure. Will this be the first time any Ravens team has faced its former OC? I know Caldwell is the Lions HC but we haven't played him as such. Until recently, none of our OCs were worth hiring to be NFL HCs.

Would feel much better if we didn't give Manning's receivers an 8-10 yard cushion but I do feel better about this game than the 2013

They won't get that cushion with Smith and Webb out there together.

Going to be a great matchup defensively in the secondary. Smith on Thomas and Webb on Sanders. Both matchups are strength on strength.

Our Oline vs their front 7 is another great matchup. Advantage us in run blocking, slight advantage to them in pass rush.

Our front 7 should tear their Oline up. Stop the run and then get after Peyton. I think that will be the story of the game. If we can pressure him early and often, and make them one dimensional I think we take the game handily.

We match up very very well against their strengths. I'm confident we win the game 27-21.

I agree with the matchups, as others have said ... just wished we got an easier first game but we'll have great momentum if we beat them at mile high for the first game

PS. On mobile so missing chance to post countdown pic :(

Packers/Ravens Super Bowl this year??

Normally I'd mean that seriously, but the skeptic in me says the NFL will make sure the Ravens don't play in the milestone 50th Super Bowl.

I'm not huge on conspiracies but end of day it's a business and the NFL loves drama and story lines. Be prepared for two historic franchises to square off in a rematch of a famous past SB, two iconic, big market teams, or a fairy tale ending for marquee player (read Manning).

My gut says the Packers will represent the NFC as they're a legit contender, have arguably the leagues best player, have something to prove after last years debacle, and fit the historic storyline.

AFC is a little less clear, but I think the NFL would like to see the Broncos, Colts or Patriots; and all 3 might be legit contenders.

We are the deepest most well balanced team in the league imo. Should be an exciting year for both our teams!

Please please NFL gods, do NOT annoint Peyton Manning.... :34853_blobfire:

50 Albert McClellan days until we take on the Denver Broncos.

And 20 Ed Reed days until our first preseason game - Thursday, August 13th - against the New Orleans Saints at the Bank

I have the exact feelings as well. If this game was at the Bank, I'd feel more comfortable to pick us.

I hope Gino is their starting center. You would think Jernigan and BW would eat him alive.

considering gino is undersized and he plays like he is, a manbeast like brandon williams will have the coaches considering benching him.

i think a huge thing that goes overlooked is what we will do at RT. if wagner is healthy, i think we'll be ok. i personally feel better with monroe blocking shane ray on passing downs and wagner blocking von on passing downs, and im hoping the broncos DC recognizes shane ray is best placed on the blind side since millers game is much more complete. if that is their line up then i think our OL (if healthy) has the advantage

Agreed. I think Wagner said himself that he should be ready for week 1. I'd like to see him in preseason just to knock the rust off. Barring an injury bug, I'm not too worried about our OL. I just hope we don't have all those drops from our pass catchers......

coming out of OTAs, it appears Gino has the starting job.

His only real competition is sophomore Matt Paradis, who's listed on the roster at the exact same size as Gino - 6'3, 300.

So, yeah, I suppose they could bench Gino, but it won't be based on size.

I can't wait for Sept.!!!

Gino at C, rookie Ty Sambrailo at LT and an ageing Chris Clark or Ryan Harris at RT. All while taking on Dumervil, Suggs, Williams and Jernigan after how they looked against the Jags last season (sans Haloti).

Ugh, it's a long wait for the start of the season.

ive always been pro flacco and been optimistic about our chances winning football games...

there's this nagging feeling i have about flacco this year just carrying the team to victories....like January Joe don't care what month it is and just comes to play from the get go

we'll see

I'm not putting too much stock into the Broncos game win or lose. We do have some young guys and new faces that have never started for us before so we might have to work out the kinks a bit in that first game. More so on offense than defense, I can see Perriman and Maxx starting the season a bit slow and then finding their confidence in the offense as the season progresses. But hey, Torrey hit the ground running his rookie year and I think BP is more pro-ready so I won't be surprised if he lights it up from day 1.

I pretty much agree but it is important we get off to a good start and win a few of them west coast games, if we can get through the first half of the season with 5 or 6 wins we will be on good shape- the majority of our home games are in the second half of the season I believe, and our schedule gets a little easier. But who knows how things will pan out really and what teams will be doing well this year.

I see a lot of ppl are excited about our chances this year and there's a lot of all around optimism- but we do have a tough start to the season - particularly the first 6 games or so.. If things don't start out so great and we lose a few games I don't want y'all jumping ship now and starting to complain about how poor of a team we have. The talent is obviously there, it just may take a while for them all to gel, build confidence in one another and for the younger guys to get goin. I fully expect them to start out swingin, I iust don't want to see all this optimism turn into pessimism bc that really gets annoying. I remember I was on the baltimore sun page where they have the live chat during the game, and after that texans game I think every person on there said we were done- that there was no chance we would make the playoffs, and even many that said flacco should be benched. It was unreal how quickly everybody gave up on our team. Even after we won the next few all they would keep saying is that we were going to be one and done in the playoffs. And then what do you know - we beat the steelers and every single one of them acted like we had a legitimate shot for the Super Bowl all of a sudden and that they had faith all along. Made me sick. So yeah I stopped going to that site. Not everybody here is that simple minded, but just keep in mind it's a long season and we have a young team that may need to work some kinks out ,get familiar with the new coordinator and see what works best for them. Also remember how close we came to beating the Super Bowl champions with a decimated secondary and far fewer weapons. We've got a really good shot at Super Bowl 50.
