[News] In Line For Bigger Role: WR Marlon Brown

Idiots are spreading rumors on NFL.com and twitter that the Ravens are one of several teams interested in Reggie Wayne. We have too many quality young guys with high potential to take it seriously. Brown is one of those guys. I hope him the best.

While I'm not in favor of it because, as you said, the Ravens have many young guys, but do consider the view point that the receivers behind Smith Sr caught a combined like 40 passes, so an infusion of a veteran third receiver who could mentor them would help. However, Kamar and Marlon both got good action last year and you don't draft a receiver in the first and not play them, so I'm happy to throw them to the wolves

I think Kamar Aiken is going to get more snaps and targets, and I think Perriman will be a starter at some point, maybe even week 1. If Pitta plays, and/or Maxx Williams can make an impact this year, we will probably run more 2 TE sets, and the RBs will probably get more targets. Barring injury, I'm still seeing Marlon as a rotational guy.

Never remember a time when I wondered which talented young guy at wr doesn't make the cut. The ravens could have a hell of a "tall package " with the guys currently on the roster lol

Brown is a proven #2 receiver. He did it his first year and he did it last year. He is a major reason we let Torey walk. This guy is so under the radar most Raven fans don't even appreciate his appreciable talent. He's huge and has shown he can do it in the red zone. he had 7 TDs his rookie year. His game winning catch against the Vikings in the snow at the back of the end zone was highlight reel stuff. He also doesn't drop the ball. Last year i think he had 5-6 games in a row where he caught every target. Putting Perriman, Smith and Brown on the field along with Gilmore and Williams/Pitta on the field gives Joe mismatches all over the field. Like a buffet. Having Waller, Aikens and Butler behind these 3 gives us a phenomenal receiver group. The best in Raven history by far from mtop to bottom. Really, there are 6 starters.

Flacco is the guy that makes it go and this year he will have mismatches all over the field. I look for a top 5 offense to go with the top 5 defense.

can u imagine Brown Waller and Perriman Gilmore in the red zone package? maybe not this year but as Flacco becomes more seasoned with this young talent around him I don't see Trestman being around that long what do you guys think

Marlon is a beast and having that viking game under his belt was all I needed to see! Reminds me of Jacoby in every way just has more hair and I feel if they stop holding him back saying he can't do this and can't do that and let him get into a groove and rip the lid off these secondaries with plays with double moves to get open using his height and speed and going long isn't always the answer double moves will get him open more and create separation!

well since when has nfl.com ever had any right about us? they will consider our wr corps weak even if they are lighting it up.

We have so many talented WR's, I think they will all be rotational. We'll have so many WR/TE/RB's catching the ball, our opponents heads will be rotational as well!

It's so hard to root for just one WR, Marlon has great skill sets and has something to prove, but Aiken was a beast last year and im really eager to see if he can build on that and be a reliable pass-catcher, Waller is a HUGE target and seems to have pretty good hands with surprising quickness and speed, then on the other hand you have Perriman, our first round draft pick who we all have such high expectations of, Butler just popped upon the scene outta nowhere and was balling in minicamp and OTA's, and of course Camp who if healthy can be Wes Welker 2.0. I guess i'll just root for everybody and whoever balls the hardest is who makes the cut and gets more reps.

I just don't see how you keep Aiken and Perriman off the field. And they say Jeremy Butler is killing it in the slot. Flacco will thrive with this WR Core. Although I do see Smith getting less snaps in the RedZone in favor of the bigger WRs.

An article by a Ravens' reporter stating that Brown will see more snaps in the 2015 season, but some folks still argue that Brown is not a lock to make the cut.  I just don't get the Brown hate.  EVERYONE loved him in 2013, but a reduce role and opportunities (SSS had something to do w/ that) and now he's a bubble player?  Makes no sense.

I think Marlon Brown will break out either this year or the next. I was optimistic it would be this past year. When I saw Marlon Brown play one thing really stuck out to me. That is his mental aspect and connection with Flacco. Not just that but he's a pretty calm guy in tense situations. I mean this was more than apparent in 2013. The vikings game anyone? More than that though is that he actually understands coverages and hot routes. Man I was very impressed with the way he and Flacco worked together while he was on the field. Nuances like that are hard to come by and I hope Brown, Flacco, Pitta, and Aiken (who I also believe to be a budding star) will have great chemistry. Personally I think 2016 is the year. Who knows maybe we can get a little luck this year and go back to back. I just think the defense and offense will be prime and balanced in 2016. I think Marlon Brown will be a part of that.

We just need to let the receivers that are playing the best after camp and preseason play regardless of draft position and contract size. You win games by putting the best players on the field. Some guys are big, some are fast, some are athletic, but if you are not catching the ball and helping to move the chains then you are just costing us a down. You have to be able to stay healthy. If those wide receivers I describe turn out to be Brown, Butler, and Aiken, I am good with it.

In the beginning of the offseason I made the argument that Brown might not make the roster, simply because he didn't seem like he grew as a player from 2013 to 2014 and they drafted a similar receiver when they drafted Waller.  But Waller hasn't done much and Brown seems to be having a good offseason.

If Brown can learn to use his body and his height to beat corners he has a bright future, but if he continues to struggle with that he will always be a rotational receiver that plays limited snaps.

Best thing about this Marlon Brown debate is that Training Camp is basically here. Either the coaches and Steve Smith have been lying when they speak about how well Brown has been performing and how they expect such big things from him in 2015 or they are telling the truth and Brown will shut a lot of people up. Either way some will still like him and others won't for whatever reason but at least now he's a week away from letting his play do the talking.

your right, Waller hasn't done much- bc training camp hasn't even begun yet. Hold your horses bro

I really would like to see Brown and Perriman as the #1 and # 2 starters SR, is a great wide receiver but Joe threw too too many times to S.R. That is one reason Steve Smith is gone, S.R. is not our savior he is a good part but he is not let Joe sling it to these two Giants tall men and we are in it to win it but do not think throwing to S.R. will get us there. Starting Brown and Perriman we will have the best offense in football this year and years to come but do not think that S.R.
